He won't pick him. He'll choose tge usual club bench warmers: Maguire, Phillips etc.

The usual argument is that these players have never let him down. That is correct but the same players have never won him anything either so surely he needs players who can play differently.

Gone are the days when players were picked on form rather than reputation.

You're spot on Jas, I've actually lost a lot of love for the national game due to Southgates poor tactical decisions and team call ups. The man is absolutely clueless and a decent manager would have won something by now with what many would say is the best pool of English players ever.

We have some great players. Sadly not the manager to match.
However, despite that, I expect the players of the quality we have to win in the summer.

To be fair to Southgate, Max in his eyes presents as a bit of a risk as he plays in a back 3. Even GON changed from a back 4 against Fulham.

It was similar with Coady who got call ups because of his leadership qualities rather than the chance of playing.

I think it's a bigger risk selecting Ramsdale and Maguire when they don't even play for their clubs on a regular basis.
