If all the transfer rumours are true Guides maybe the only player left., ?

Wouldn't put it past Jeff if he entered us into a Five-a-Side league. Now that would really slash the wage bill.

Seriously, it's probably the same at most clubs, the rumour mill. We are taking our time with signings. Buy in haste, repent at leisure!

We need to put a line through last week. Yes it's disappointing not to have a rb but Arias was a great signing.

We will have a list and we should be working through this over the weekend like it's deadline day.

Few players I'd look at.
Rb-Thiago (Lille)
CB-Veiga (Chelsea)
Lb-Martim Fernandes (Porto)
FW-Aghehowa (Porto) or Yuri Alberto (Corinthians)

We need the deals this week leaving them till the end means that we pay inflated prices. I think 3 players are needed next week. We are over thinking some signings. Yes you pay more but you normally get better players. Those above are worth the money. No point paying more at the end of the window for players that aren't as good.

Would Silva go back to Porto as part of a deal?

The club needs to be more proactive as VP can't build a team like this. It's like a builder with no bricks or mortar.

Id still be looking for a midfielder and forward after those signings. Dendoncker wouldn't be a bad deal as he can cover at the back and in midfield like Veiga.

Madman veiga is in talks with Athletico Madrid Chelsea want 35 mill Wolves won't pay that. That's the reason Wolves missed out on Guessand if true or what was reported he didn't want to join.

Dendonkey is past his best before date. He was slow when we had him. Time to move on.

Veiga isn't going Atletico as they have signed another CB yesterday. Wolves should make the move as he can cover defence and midfield. Prefers playing central CB. We say that about the money but that's £15m less can Kilman wa sold for and he is 21 years of age. He can move in a couple of years for double the money. At his age you should be playing not waiting for a big move.

I don't disagree Boswolf with moving on but I think for £9m he would add some depth to defence and midfield. He is a useful squad player and never really put a foot wrong in defence even without pace. Could look at Larsen from Galatasaray as an alternative.

Madman for the last 3 seasons Cuhna was are biggest buy after that Wolves have not paid over 30mill for anyone it could be less than 25mill i'm talking pounds not Euros.

Shada you forget that the club were under intense FFP restrictions due to the signing of Cunha, Sarabia, Dawson, Lemina and Gomes in January 2023.

The signings for that winter cost £72m with the majority spent on Cunha.

Fans forget that we still had Moutinho, Neves, Semedo, Traore, D Costa etc the wage budget was £310m for the season 2022-2023.

The club have said they won't go into paying crazy wages like Moutinho, Sarabia, Guedes and F Silva. But then again they offered Semedo a new deal which is a bit strange. Plus they FFP restrictions aren't what they were over each of the past few years.

But the club will still pay higher transfer amounts for the right targets. We can't expect to compete with transfers less than £25m is ridiculous.

Madman I understand what your saying count up how much Wolves have spent on there last 6 signings I don't think it comes to 120mill that's not even 20mill per player.

Madman I think you might need to check the £310m wage bill for 2022-2023. That is in line with Chelsea!
The accounts actually show a wage bill of £141m - in line with the wage bill for 2023 -24.
Scarily a very significant proportion of that however goes to a person or persons unknown as the players wage bill will be a fraction of that.
ps
Work it backwards a £100k a week player - Wolves will have had very few at any stage and probably none now - costs the club circa £5m pa
A 50k per week player £2.5m etc
Most sites have the squad for last season costing somewhere around £65-70m pa

{Ed001's Note - the wage bill is everyone employed, which will include grounds keepers, shop staff, cleaners, admin staff, no doubt lawyers and many other sundry people. Directors will no doubt get a significant chunk of it as well, if they have executive roles. There is no way it would have been anywhere near 310m in total.}

Yes Shada but add up the signings of 2022-2023 and that is our problem with FFP.
Nunes-£55m
Guedes-£35m
Hwang-£35m
Cunha-£45m
Gomes-£18m
Sasa-£15m
Lemina-£11m
B Traore-£5M
Total-£219M (Note this is without £310m wage budget)
It doesn't mean they wouldn't spend over £25m again.
This is the problem the club have spent money but the majority on managers and players that haven't worked out.
We are very similar to Leicester City in that we kept all the players that took us so close to consistent European football but due to injuries or changing of manager we dropped off. And we also didn't sell the players when they were at there most valuable as an asset. £90m for Raul is mental money after his injury he is probably worth £20-£25m.
The sale of Jota was a massive mistake by Nuno we should have trebled our money for Adama and built a team with Jota and Raul.
The sales of the past 3 years were the right thing its a clean slate this summer and the club and VP need to build something for the next 3-5 years.
Theres also quite a few players that have good sell on values in the future Toti, Andre, Gomes, Larsen, Lopez, Mane and Lopes. Not saying we should sell but I am saying there is another generation to keep the club within FFP.

Ed of course you are correct. However from the accounts if you very generously allow £71m for the first team squad that leaves £70m for the other staff of whom there are just over 350.

How many groundsmen, cleaners, retail and catering staff, ticket office etc etc in Wolverhampton are on the £200k pa the average roughly works out at.
Ps the accounts state that the directors between them took just over £0.5m.
Maybe the sadly v regular pay off to former managers and their staff are included here?

Or payments to consultants/agents?
