Did anyone hear the Dame Karren Brady interview on Talksport yesterday. It's worth a listen as she explain how and why it is so difficult for clubs outside of the big 6 to sign players and the issues the clubs face.

If it's so hard to find new signings why are they so keen to sell off their best players every year if they know they can't adequately replace them?
Where do they think that will lead and why would they do it?

She mentioned that the bigger clubs can afford to pay players that clubs like Wolves and West Ham simply can't offer. That's what happened with Kudus at West Ham and most likely AIT and Cunha at Wolves. She also mentioned that she'd had a conversation with her counterparts at Brentford and Bournemouth and it seems both clubs were powerless to keep the likes of Norgaard, Mbeumo, Huijsen, Kerkez and Zaybarni.

She also mentioned that clubs are now having to buy unproven players, developing them and then selling them for profit. Basically what Brighton have been doing. The issue is that all the clubs are looking at the same pool of players.

Its interesting- the thing is over the years Fosun have been good and have backed the club.
Something happened with Nuno, Thelwell and Shi during Covid.
I think at this time the wealth of Gestifute players dried up a little bit with Vitinha, Silva, Guedes, Goncalves, Trincao, Andre Silva and Leao really being the dominant new age players between 2020-2024.
Not an excuse by any means but the fact that talent pool wasn't ready for the Prem or was still in its infancy left us dry a little bit. Mendes did get most those players to Wolves as well BTW.
I think Thelwell took a lot of praise but wasn't actually responsible for many signings everywhere he goes he still tries to sign Coady haha. that's where Sellars may have pushed back and said I have brought some players through look what I've been doing (tbf I remember our youth sides been successful from 2018-2023 with Sellars City rejects).
The biggest issue is we kept changing technical director Sellars and Hobbs changed again this year to Teti.
Every manager has had a different style Nuno, Bruno, JLO, GON and Vitor.
Thought it was good to see Vitor impose a style on the Wolves which we could see on Saturday.
Lets hope Teti, Mendes and Shi get the signing we need.
I will say though even through these changes Fosun and Wolves have had a 'plan' even through PSR problems Shi has had money available for the manager in January in 2023 and 2025.
With no PSR issues it will be interesting to see the moves they make but football has changed since Wolves last had money and the prem landscape has changed massively aswell.

Think it's a good point Mad (regarding the ever changing staff/approach). The lack of consistency is definitely a problem. Just seen that Palace are about to appoint Hobbs, now he's replacing the VERY highly regarded Dougie Freeman and is apparently already overseeing the end of the window. So will be interesting to see who now fairs better, Hobbs or Wolves? Time will tell ?
