None of his backline he's picked have played regularly for there clubs this season yet we have one of the best defenses in the premiership and arguably one of the best C.Bs in the division but southgate wasn't going to pick kilman over Maguire was he! absalute clueless or just Biased feel sorry for our wolf all he can do is keep performing the way he has then he will pick him eventually I'm sure ??

If you are on Man Utd books and English an England call up is a formality. Maguire can't get in their poor team now but still preffered over Kilman. From what I hear Maguire only covers for the tea lady on her day off! Southgate seems to have blind faith in some players who are barely getting game time for their clubs. It's time he picked a team of form players and not just based on past reputation. I'm sure Max is not the only one to miss out because of this so called big club bias.

People will say that Maguire has never let Southgate down before but and he shouldn't be testing new players so close to the World Cup, however, Maguire has been poor for over 1 year now and Kilman has been outstanding and should have been in last season. Southgate has his favourites and dies not have a plan B. I mean, how did Shaw but more shockingly, Kalvin Phillips who was injured for the final 5 months of last season and has played the grand total of 9 minutes this season get in?

Luke Shaw obviously there because of the Man.U connection Jas. It has always been the same with them, the F.A. bent over backwards to please Fergie as did many referees. Still goes on today with refs and VAR.

If Kilman had signed for a club like Chelsea in the summer and only played 1 game for them all season he'd be in the England squad.


Southgate may have got us closer to a trophy than any England manager since Alf Ramsey, but he's a hypocrite. He has little to no ideas on substitutions or how to do anything other than be defensive with some of the best attacking players available. Unfortunately the best current candidate for the job is now in charge of Chelsea and it would likely be too soon for the FA to poach him after the World Cup.

I don't really have much time for the England set up-never have done, going all the way back to Ramsey's day. Don't get me wrong I like to see them do well in the tournaments, but as regards Nations league, friendlies and international break, I get bored senseless. Kilman's acid test to his potential comes tomorrow.

I'm with you QS, after italia 90 my interest in England as faded, most probably because of my age but more importantly due to the overprivilaged and self important personality of some of the players who don't seem to appreciate what representing our country means. There's no pearces butchers inces gasgounes even linakers in there now. I'll have more interest in portugul for obvious reasons.
