£100million is what i've seen on Twitter as the transfer kitty for January with a further £150million in Summer if we stay up.

1.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 15:57:03
Highly unlikely for me Rated.
Fosun have already spent £100+m in the summer. Can't see them shelling out the same again in January.

2.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 16:27:16
We'll have to wait and see. Apparently Lopetegui was promised a big transfer budget.

3.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 17:41:14
I'm more intrigued into how they would get that past FFP?! No point signing players if you get banned from registering them. Just ask Barca! I believe Fosun can put in £90m a season but that hardly even covers half of that (by the time you add sign on fees, wages etc). Lope is no fool so he must have been promised something, just don't see how it can be the numbers quoted?! As always would be VERY happy to be wrong ?

4.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 18:40:43
I Understand that we can only register a maximum of 17 overseas players, which we have done already, so gaps need to be created 1 of which is Bonatini but who else is going to be sacrificed?

5.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 19:46:48
I’d love if that was true, but hoping the money is spent more wisely on players.

6.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 20:49:41
I really can't see this without Neves being sold.

7.) 25 Nov 2022
25 Nov 2022 23:12:09
Can't they de-register Sasa, for instance?

8.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 01:19:20
Sorry gents you misunderstand, Barcelona didn't get banned from registering players cause of the actual number of players (I suspect our numbers are fine there). No they got banned from registering players until the books were a bit more balanced and I hate to be a neigh sayer but with the numbers quoted on here I just don't see how we will get the books to look balanced for the next few years?! Like I say I want to be wrong but when you consider we got pinged for FFP when we were spending fairly moderate budgets then I just don't see how a club ALREADY £110m in on the transfer budget can suddenly add another £100-200m to that number without consequences?! And that's before we even consider Fosun fairly well documented liquity 'issues'?! Please prove me wrong Jeff, I'm not an accountant but I'm not seeing how these transfer budgets add up for a team operating within FFP?

{Ed001's Note - Barca got banned from signing players because La Liga has introduced stricter controls on spending. It is not in the slightest bit relevant to Wolves unless you are relocating the club to Spain.}

9.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 01:36:07
But surely Ed the principle (maybe not the actual sanction) is still the same?! My point was you can't just show a complete disregard for FFP (because your having a bad season) without there being consequences?! Or are you now saying that you can?! Cause that's not what previous Eds have said on here?

{Ed001's Note - but that is not what you were saying. You were trying to claim that Barca's sanctions were relevant. They aren't. La Liga has a completely different system that involves a salary cap based on income. It is not relevant to Wolves. UEFA's FFP and the Prem's P&S regs are different and yes they will have to abide by them. But they are calculated over a period of 3 years, so you have to look back over the last 3 years to figure out how much you can spend. La Liga's system is based on the previous season's accounting figures only.}

10.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 01:50:40
Respectfully, but actually that is EXACTLY what I was saying! Barcelona were an example and whilst I accept the sanction might not be like for like (due to different league rules) but surely we can't just run rough shot over FFP just because you've invested badly previously?! Like I said before I want to be wrong here but also as I've said before we've got fined previously when spending a LOT less than some on the numbers currently talked about on here! Not seeing how any of this adds up, even over three seasons?! ?

{Ed001's Note - I give up! I wasn't disagreeing with you, merely pointing out that your example was complete bollox and utterly irrelevant. You are confusing the issue by bringing them into it. The sanctions are completely different. Perhaps if you did some research you would see there are a number of examples of English clubs that have fallen foul of P&S/FFP regs in recent years. Leicester City being the most obvious, and not for the first time either. This season they were stuck in a cycle of offloading players because they were way over the limits. They were not banned from registering players at all.}

11.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 02:16:49
Again respectfully (always is with you guys:) but I have done some research here and that's why I don't see how the current numbers being banded about are possible/add up. I accept Barcelona were a bad example and accept your example is far more relevant but when looking at the current demise of Lec City then surely it equates to the same thing?! Fosun have always been very adverse to risk so not seeing how they would willing put themselves in a similar position of having to sell the team off without a realistic chance of being able to claw anything of their initial investment in players?! Especially (again as mentioned previously) for a business recently mentioned in Forbes for having very real issues with liquidity?! Please don't give up, like you say I'm not disagreeing just looking for more genuine clarity of how it all adds up rather than some random post on twitter! ?

{Ed001's Note - it is taken over 3 years and the initial sanctions are just basically a slap on the wrists. It would mean thereafter a tightening of the belts to get back within the regs, but that could well be planned for. Maybe a sale or two, say a certain Portugese midfielder, is in the works to raise funds to allow a spending spree. That is what I would suggest is the likely way it will be paid for to be honest. I don't think they will need to break FFP, they will just sell to keep within limits.}

12.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 08:12:54
Just a thought, Wolves may have spent £100-120M in the summer but didn't they recover almost half that in sales, loan fees and agreed future sales.

If so, are concerns about ffp really warranted given that we are at the start of a new 3 year cycle.

13.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 11:22:16
I don't think they will be splashing the cash in January, it seems investment will come if JL manages to work some magic and keep Premier football for us. No point paying out large fees for Championship football. Stay up and I think I investment will follow.

14.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 11:25:22
As I understand it it all depends on the length of contact a player as so if you buy a player for 50mill and give him a 5 year deal you have only spent 10mill per year over the length of that contract

15.) 26 Nov 2022
26 Nov 2022 23:13:49
Of course we are all ignoring Jeff's investments in music and esports etc etc etc etc. I am sure they are all making countless millions for the club as we speak that will mean that our finances both now and forever more are fine and dandy and we can spend like Manchester City/United/Chelsea etc etc without a second thought!
Ps nothing stated in my post above is anything other than complete drivel!
What a great shame Jeff doesn't realise this!
pps I am also highly secptical we, (and/or Fosun) can raise, let alone spend those sums. However as Jas points out JL has told us/Jeff what is needed for Wolves to survive/prosper in the second half of this season. Surely before JL accepted the job he and Jeff must have agreed that this is to be done. Jeff unless he is even a bigger fool than I think he is or a blatant liar must have plans in place as to how the funds to do what JL wants to do are to be provided. Since this is surely £100m+ at the very least I'm baffled.
Funding it by selling Neves - we won't get anywhere near £100m for him anyway as, as much as I love and rate him, his lack of pace and creative vision limits his value to the sort of clubs that pay those sums - would be counterproductive as it would merely replace one gaping hole in the side with another - shame we didn't buy Palhina for sub £20m this summer as he looks like the sort of player who might have been a poor mans replacement for Neves ( but perhaps his fee is an example of how much clubs pay for players of that ilk)
ppps Craig - yes plus wages of course.

16.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 00:39:52
This is it Future, I also think with Neves people seem to be ignoring a rather HUGE elephant in the room! His contract only runs till 2024 and as Lope has already said we won't be selling him this season then frankly we'll be lucky to even get £40m for him, however good he is a one year contract is a one year contract! In fact the ONLY way I see us getting a decent fee is IF (and it's a big one) he chooses to sign an extension probs with a release fee to persuade him! It's possible, as I do believe he will want to leave on good terms but after the complete farce that has been our handling of Adamas contract well saddly my faith in the back room team to handle the situation would be cynical at best! As I've said all along, I want to be wrong but after spending seasons having faith in Jeff's ability to manage such situations I'm afraid I just have no trust left in the man's ability for the monumental task at hand! ?

17.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 02:08:46
Esports is huge and worth a lot of money something in the region of $1.2billion and by the end of 2023 is predicted to exceed $3billion, how much it is worth to Wolves though would depend up on a number of things how far the teams get, how big they become, how they are marketed etc.
If done correctly could be worth a few million each season to the club.

18.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 10:45:21
Rated - so may be not a complete waste of time then, ok. However by taking his eye of the ball ( I am being kind here) he is risking Wolves being relegated which loses the club at least 10s of millions and probably (unless we bounce back which as I have posted on before is highly unlikely) more like hundreds of millions.
Again as I have said before I know which out of football and what are at best seeminly small distractions I d rather Wolves focussed on.

19.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 12:00:17
When shi was given the head role I'm sure I remember he saying a lot of fans won't like me but the direction we have to go it's something we as a club have to do.
Lol you can't say he's wrong on the first sentence (that is if I remember correctly)
Add,Neves and Nunes would be best part of £100 million if we're to be sold.

Well,we all will wait with baited breath to see how our league season unfolds and what will be spent in January.

Personally I don't think Neves will be sold in January.
Nunes unsure but want him to stay and help us be a force up at the top end of the league.
Regarding our budget haven't a clue.
Ps fed up of doing handstands everytime I see the league table.

20.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 13:16:12
If done right Thefuture mate Esports can be a goldmine, I play on a esport fifa team we don't get to the tournaments but I know someone who got to the finals and each player recieved £100k the winners each got £250k, their sporting company recieved £2.4million.
Crazy that just 10 years ago gamers were mocked now look at the industry as a whole (gaming) is worth over $195billion globally, esports although worth a tiny fraction of that at $1.2billion is expected to grow over the next 5 years to 10% of the gaming industries total revenue.
However to succeed and reap the rewards Wolves need to get it right otherwise it can be costly too.
Be interesting to see where our esports teams are in 5 years time.
Back to on the pitch though I think we will be OK Lope has something about him that I think will kick the players into gear.

21.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 15:11:16
Wow Rated - I'm def feeling old now!
Phil it is all a matter of opinion but i'm sceptical that we would get that for Nunes - who has been disapointing albeit in difficult circumstances and therefore is likely to have dropped in value markedly from what we paid - and Neves.
But if sold I suspect we would get north of £60m so yes big bucks but where do we go then - you have just sold our two first choice central midfield players? I fear that just replacing them with the requisite quality would absorb most if not all of that as who will join us in a relegation battle unless we pay over the odds in wages and fees?

22.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 15:47:27
Good point Thefutureisoldgold regarding Nunes and neves.
I like babacar Traore a contender for a long term future with us but we need to hit ground running when the league resumes.
Bonatini obvious choice to go and I think whang the next likely and even Adama at present but never know he may sign a contract with us but I fear he wants out of the country preferably Spain maybe Italy.
That would be 3 places available.
Nothing surprises me in football Jimenez may leave semedo ait nouri.
We just have to wait and see.
There's so many different things that could happen.
But before January we have 3 games.
I would love for us to win the carabao cup I know it's a pipe dream but in my 50th birthday year it would be a dream come true.
Obviously our league status takes priority but we do both.
We in it on both fronts then the fa Cup too.
We have great prospects coming through the ranks give them the minutes.
I think the good feeling of fans is seeing home grown come through and become top footballers.
Sorry if I'm too ambitious enthusiastic but just way I am.

23.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 16:40:32
Of course they going to spend, that's the reason the new manager has come here. lets be thankful we have him and not beale. cuz after not taking the wolves job and explaining he couldn't jump ship after telling his own players not to do the same.well that's gone out the window.

24.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 18:20:50
Phil - absolutely nothing wrong in being ambitious.
When is your actual 50th birthday?
Do you have any plans/dreams/hopes for it?
When my boy was 18 we went on safari to Kenya - just the two of us.
It was during the ebola crisis so it was incredibly cheap and we had an amazing time.
Sadly as I am sure I have told you he is not well - had cancer as a little boy - and over last few years has been ill again. However he has recently been given the all clear again so for his 26th birthday next year we are going to Zimbabwe and Botswana (his dream holiday) again just the two of us.
It will be an amazing hols ( if we can lose the weight to get on to the little planes we are flying around in - 15st weight limit per person!) but is now costing 2 arms and a leg!
So phil carry on being enthusiastic and ambitious in everything in reality who knows where we, including wolves, are going!

{Ed001's Note - I hope you have an amazing time Tfiog, nothing more important than time, it is good that you are using it so well.}

25.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 19:01:15
Ed 001 - tks for your kind note! Do you recall a couple of years ago we- my son and I - were meant to be going to Dubai, ( on the way back from Botswana) and you were giving me some tips/advice - tks!. Sadly that trip had to be cancelled so its been a long wait for him.
I'm sure we will have a great time - we go in June so have 7 months to get slimmer and save up - the holiday is priced in dollars so over the last year has gone up hugely due to both inflation and currency fluctuations - hence we are no longer adding on a few days R and R in Dubai!

{Ed001's Note - that's a shame mate, but at least you get to do the main trip! I am really hoping you have a great time.}

26.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 19:24:27
No plans Thefutureisoldgold as yet.
Me too hope you have amazing time with your son.
I have no plans or dreams as yet only for wolves to win something.
Would love to have weekend in London and go to Arsenal last game.

Dublin maybe with my bro as he has a friend who lives out there. But depends on brothers health.

27.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 20:09:43
Phil - Dublin is a great place for a long weekend away (been 3 or 4 times) and as Doctor Johnson said if you are tired of London you are tired of life.
Is your bro older than you and how is his health currently?
I hope you get to do both and have 2 great weekends - fingers crossed we are long since safe by the time of Arsenal away as I wouldn't want to count on to much there.
Have you been to their stadium - I went this year to the RL semi v Samoa.
Beautiful ground and v easy to get in and out of - went to Spurs last season and also a lovely ground but a pig to get home from - public transport simply couldn't cope and we ended up having to get a bus miles before we could get on the tube back to central London.

I haven't been to Arsenal ground Thefutureisoldgold.
Its the day of my birthday the Arsenal match 30 years to the day my dad passed away.
Would love to go and remember a good time on my birthday.
52 my dad no age to ago.
Working away at Preston my dad was when it happened had to go with my mom to Preston police station and mortuary worst day of my life.
Lambert first game for us away at Preston my bro and I there a goal less draw second half kicking towards goal where we were behind I said to my bro we going to do it for dad we didn't it was a terrible game.
We knew someone working on virgin trains and went home first class and had a drink in Preston after the match.
I'll never go to Preston ever again.
My brother is older his health is the same never work again and needs prompting to do things.
A worry is his weight as he eats crap he is border line diabetic.
I never settled down.
My brother told me he brought some talking bathroom scales when he got on it said one at a time please.

29.) 27 Nov 2022
27 Nov 2022 20:55:00
Sorry Thefutureisoldgold for being too open.
Thankyou for being a wolves friend
All the best pal.
Dublin is the most populated capital in Europe?
It's always doubling lol

30.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 00:10:51
Phil -
You never have to apologise and whilst I am unable to say anything that can possibly help or make things better I am delighted that you are both brave enough and regard us on here highly enough to tell us things that are really important!
52 is indeed cruelly far far too young. I assume that with you 20, you and your brother were both at best only young men at the time so a terrible terrible experience for both of you.
Fantastic, (odd word!), that you could help your mum but oh my not something that anyone could do without being affected.
Is it this that has affected your brother?
I know you mention your bro a lot - it sounds as if you are very close and you really care for each other. Hopefully that is a big comfort to you both.
It would be a wonderful way to spend what must be a v bittersweet day if we could put on a show for you at Arsenal but maybe I now know and understand better why you are perhaps better "balanced" about matters than some of us well me anyway!
I hope that you can stay strong both for yourself and your bro!
Life is never easy or fair and if it is getting you down I know lots of posters on here would be more than happy to offer what ever "support" they can so no your not being too "open" this board may be about football and Wolves in particular but it is also about a group of people chatting and chewing the could if that can't include "open" discussions then it isn't as good a board as I think it is!

31.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 00:11:17
ps Phil - terrible joke! Good man!

32.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 04:06:19
Thanks Thefutureisoldgold ?
First time I have spoken well written to be exact about it in a very long time.
My brother tells me the jokes he's always telling me them.

Thefutureisoldgold,
Will post on other posts when I have clear and enough time to do so properly.
I'm at work at present early starts and posted reply above before I set out for work.

One thing I will say The Wolves in the premier league and using enjoying this site is a good positive thing for me.
Everyone has their stuff to deal with.
I enjoy reading all the memories of posters wolves experiences from before my time.
Have a good day speak/chat soon.

34.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 11:21:18
Excellent - if it helps - do it!

ps v early start!

35.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 12:45:45
I will do Thefutureisoldgold,
Sunday is my best day when I have a day off of late.
Saying that I worked all day Saturday my weekend a right off so went in yesterday for 5 hours
It's sacrilege to work on the sabbath but thought it would ease the pressure of this week but more work has come in so hardly made a difference the h hours yesterday.
Roll on the 21st when I break up for Christmas.

36.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 13:47:24
I know you travel quite a way to work but what is it that you do that requires you to start so early.
I once worked for a chap who demanded that everyone was in at 7.15 everyday but then most of the team just went to breakfast and actually did v little before 9 anyway!
ps never complain that there is work to do being busy helps the time to home fly by and also keeps you employed.
I did a walk on saturday afternoon for 11 people which took nearly 5 hours and loved it (hope they did) but have nothing in the book for this week at all!

37.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 17:49:45
Julen told Ruben all those years ago that he would like to coach him when he was 25. Now he is 25 and Lopetegui is not about to sell him.
Maybe Fosun were trying to force Wolves to be self-sufficient when they don't actually have to be according to the rules.
This may have built up some play in how much they can spend.
They were also under financial restrictions for being in Europe so soon after being promoted (they probably weren't expecting it and therefore disregarded EUFA FFP rules and only focused on Premier League FFP rules) and since that is over, there may also be some space built up if that is possible while under these situations.
Do you think it is just a coincidence that after the UEFA restrictions ended, they spent all of that money the past summer?

38.) 28 Nov 2022
28 Nov 2022 18:31:01
It's my choice I start so early,
I struggle sleeping and lie awake most days from 4 o'clock onwards.
So why not get up and earn more money.
My boss asked me to do as many hours as I can as we are swamped with work.

39.) 03 Dec 2022
03 Dec 2022 20:38:23
Well the news coming out today of two potential signings kinda prove money is being spent by Fosun so go all those with the knives out… looking a bit silly aren’t we.
