The Nunes fee has already been agreed £40million it's the player that's stalled it, he don't want to come to Wolves so imo invest that £40million into Traore, a back up striker and another cb.

Not sure that's the right mentality Rated.
We want the best players to form the best team to get us into European football.
I understand he wants to play European football think one year not playing it in a world cup season playing in the prem won't make much difference to his chances of being part of the Portugal world cup squad with all the Portugal internationals in our squad.
Personally feel the club should sign Nunes and Inacio as they are excellent players for the future that would greatly improve our squad and improve our chances of European football and a good cup run.
Hwang 2 would cover things as a back up striker.
The cherry would be Ramos with an option to buy.

nunes turned down west ham too he won't be signing for wolves

If Nunes interest is real then it is likely to be a deadline day deal. His outright rejection of West Ham approach strengthens the view that he is waiting for a Champions League club, bigger than Sporting, to make a bid. We would surely have moved on to another target if there was not an agreement with the player, that if there wasn’t such N approach, then he would sign for us. Fee apparently agreed with the club and it is the player who is stalling on the move; understandably so if he thinks a top six club will come calling.

Bizarrely although I fear - as it seems do most pundits and the bookies - that we are in for a v tough season and relegation is a possibility I also feel that as has been mentioned by several posters and in numerous posts we are equally only a handful of decent signings away from returning to the upper echelons of the league.
A senior CB - now that we have given Coady to Everton (imagine if they end up 17th 1 point abouve us how will we feel then?) - capable of playing in a 3 in case after a few bad defeats in the early stages of the season we, like last year, decide we have to revert to that more solid formation. Note Nuno and Lage didn't play that way out of a whim but because the squad is designed to play that way - Semedo, RAN and Moutinho plus probably Neves at least are far better suited to 3 at the back than 4!
Add a senior CM and a first choice CF and we may well be the team Nunes wants to sign for.
He can be the CM, Coady would have been the CD and so before the bizarre transaction last week we were merely looking to find a new CF - indeed is Guedes that player?
I will not comment as others know Portuguese football far better than me but if he is a player - as is mooted - more comfortable as a 10 or a wide forward it was a luxury signing as MGW and Podence cover the 10 role and we have numerous options at wide forward?
Net net I guess I hope Nunes comes but sadly suspect that due to both our finances and, as many here are hinting, his ambition outstripping ours he wont!
ps how sad it is that posters now accept that WHU and Newcastle are clubs way beyond our reach to whom we should bow down to when only 2 years ago they were so far behind us they couldn't see our dust.

We will see how the squad is formed in 19 days time. Patience!

13 Aug 2022 15:47:31
Indeed and I sincerely hope that we can make the changes that are needed - although worryingly 5 games from which we desperately need points will have gone by then.
But as this message of "have patience it will alright by the end of the window" has been dragged out for every window since Seville without any action being taken I fear my faith has been dented. "The boy who cried wolf"?
Sevlow Can I ask why you believe that this time it will be different?
Why aren't you as angry as me at seeing a team that was identified as a champions league place potential challenger only 2 years ago morphing into a team now tipped to be a relegation battle candidtate directly as a result of the club consistently failing to fulfill that promise of "it will be alright by the end of the window".
This failure of course is made worse as both managers publicly stated that the clearly obvious changes that were needed were needed!

I do agree with you TFG. Football is mostly about money as we know. Wolves have come a long way from so many dark years and it is frustrating to advance so swiftly only to stall. There is no use in me becoming angry affecting blood pressure therefore I live in hope! It will be a matter of analysis when the window closes. Maybe a wry smile, you never know.

Good reply Sevlow!
