Hannah Perkins (the same person who said the Collins deal was done before anyone else had a sniff) has said "Gibbs white not for sale, Bruno considers him a valuable part of the team and is confident a new deal will be reached with him."

Agree0 Disagree0

Needs to commit by signing a new deal. IF that doesn’t happen then I think we will cash in, as there appears to be real interest from a couple of sides, with £30 million being an amount that would be very tempting. Do see a ready made replacement in present youngsters so undoubtedly need to bring in from elsewhere. Problem with this is that there will be no time to integrate into playing style ahead of season opener.
Think Dendonker situation is the same. If a tempting offer was to be forthcoming I think we would sell.

I could easily be wrong here, but I can't see anything happening with MGW until January. He wants to play football and it looks like he can do that next season for Wolves. If Wolves play him he'll sign a new deal. If Wolves don't play him then he won't and he'll get sold in January. How much he plays will depend on his performances when given a chance and on how much Lage trusts him to play.

Alex, indeed a good 3 months will increase his value, a poor 3 months and probably a fire sale to a championship club in January.

Our squad is just not strong enough.you seen with Burnley last season and this will happen to wolves this season.we have not strengthened just weekend our team by allowing players to go out on loan

Our squad has been the same size for the last 5 seasons. Yes us supporters would like more depth, but unless more quality players are available within our price range, what's the point. No-one wants more Cutrone's or Chan's. We have lost Saiss from the starting 11 and gained Collins, which in my view is an upgrade. Silva has been loaned out simply because he is not good enough yet to make an impact in the Prem. MGW is with us this year in the hope he has improved. Jimenez is the only immediate issue and he will only miss a few games. If we do bring in a couple of quality additions without letting g Neves go, we will again push fir a Euro spot. Our biggest enemy has always been consistently. Fosun will not change how they operate because it worked the first 2 years in the prem.

Living in fantasy land the team is not as strong as it was still no fire power only neves can create anything

Carmo talks sense why panic and sign a load of player we don't need?

Camo - Have to say that I agree with most of what you say here. Squad is indeed roughly the same size. No one wants poor quality players added only those good enough to play and yes they are likely to be expensive.
The, if fully fit, 16 man squad is good enough to challenge for Europe - although it is likely we will run out of steam at the end of the season and of course the 5 sub rule will hurt us - and adding 2 more quality players without letting anyone go would be a massive boost - sadly don't see it happening.
However it worked in the first two years is not really an arguement I go with for not making changes post Seville. Not that Fosun are/were it appears in any position to do so but a stand alone Wolves, if better managed, might have been able to do so.
Why did it work in the first two years and - although some dispute this - has not worked as well since.
1) The squad although undeniably small in those first two years incredibly had no injuries of any note for most of that period. That was unsustainable and indeed has more than evened out over the last 2 years
2) Maybe the reason for 1) - the passage of time has meant that much of the squad and certainly several key members of it are now not only 2 years older than they were at Seville but more pertinently are now past their prime.
and finally 3) a number of the handful of the changes made - not all as Sa for Patricio was a good move - have weakened the squad Jota for Fabio being the main one of course.
This view however should not be a surprise to anyone or indeed unknown to the club as Nuno on National TV after Seville stated that to continue to compete at the level we were the squad needed enlarging and rebalancing. Today of the 13 experienced prem quality fit players 4 are actually v inexperienced and 4 are CBs - of whom Boly and perhaps Coady may now have their best years behind them and none of them are CFs!
Not surprisingly after Nuno left Lage said exactly the same thing!
ps The worry of losing Jimenez for those first few games is not the number of games but who we are playing - if it was City, Arsenal or Liverpool etc it wouldn't matter as we probably aren't expecting too many points from them anyway but these early games against some of the weakest teams in the league are the ones we are surely targeting to get to the points total required for that lower mid table safety I am hoping for.

Joek wolf, I think you are in fantasy land. Neves 8 assists. Neto has 10 and Moutinho has 16. The stats seem to disagree with your statement. The whole World knows we need to score more goals.

29 Jul 2022 08:25:41
The future is gold, I totally agree with you. The frustrating thing for us fans is Fosun must believe we can cope and still stay in Prem.

29 Jul 2022 08:44:34
Netto being eyed up by man United

29 Jul 2022 11:33:08
Totally agree Joekwolf.

The squad is not as good as the one we came up with. The position in the prem has and will prove that. We could get to the end of next season and find quality players like Netto, Neves, etc will want out.
I also think the trainers are worse since Nuno left. We played a record number of games and hardly had an injury. Now the season hasn't started and we already have several out.

It's being reported that Renato Sanches is off on loan to PSG with an 8.5 million Euro transfer fee after that. Now I try and remain positive in all things Wolves related, but are the hierarchy seriously missing a fair few points here?
Are we missing out on targets because they weren't really targets?

Thing is, it's not typical Fosun- first season back up we signed Rui Patricio, Jonny, Traore, Moutinho, Dendocker (on loan) as well as turning loans into permanent (Jota, Boly). Probably with the exception of Teenwolf there hasn't been substantial investment since.

I was watching an interview the other day (Conte I think) and he was saying something i've heard many times before- that to progress in this league you have to continually invest and improve- stand still and there'll be a queue waiting to overtake you. The previous strategy of loan to buy seems to have dried up (or maybe the people who managed to get those deals through are no longer there) and I don't see any progression now. Gut feeling is Fosun have changed priorities but who knows (other than the million or so who apparently know someone)

Last season's good start was largely built on not conceding goals yet we're supposedly looking at changing to a back 4 (the same mistake Nuno made) and as mentioned above we're struggling for goals (and don't let the pre-season results fool anyone) yet with no sign of rectifying. And it does seem to be that we need to sell to buy- as an example we were looking at 30m+ for Traore yet now are rumoured to be willing to accept 10. And we dangled a price tag for Neves in the hope it would pay for two or three players but there doesn't appear to be any serious suitors.

As ever, I hope we do well but I have major doubts- we'll see
