From Fabrizio Romano

"Everton want to sign an extra quality midfielder. Frank Lampard has also Leander Dendoncker in the list, he's appreciated by board and manager. Everton, ready to explore this move in the next weeks. ? #EFC

Contract with Wolves expires in 2023, with option for further season"

They might be interested but not sure Wolves will want to let him go Debbie. We've lost one good defender/midfielder in Saiss and managers do like to have flexible players in the squad. Having said that we seem to have plenty of central defenders, all of a sudden, so it might open the door for a more creative midfielder to help Moutinho through the season.

If Dendoncker moving ended up with us signing Nunes then I wouldn't be against this but that would still leave us light in terms of numbers in midfield. Dendoncker is a good steady player but we need better if we are to progress. He runs about and puts the odd tackle in but other than that I struggle to see what else he offers.

I think Dendonker is a decent player, he does the "dirty jobs" which frees up the likes of neves and Moutinho to be the more creative players. He's always been a player who divides opinion. But as I recall Wolves paid 12m (GBP) for him which is very cheap in today's market and at the time.

Read the stats on points per game then read how we get more points when Donk plays than when he doesn't. Don't see any advantage in selling him unless it's a very, very good offer and we can get better than we already have.

I agree Deb,
Dendonker not appreciated by a lot of fans for his excellent attributes more unappreciated for his lesser attributes compared with our other players.
But neves and mouthino are top top quality.

Dendonker really goes under the radar, his workrate is phenomenal and he always puts a shift in, covering for others and often doing the hard miles to keep the opposition under pressure plus he can operate in various positions. A definite keep at the moment.

Dendonker is I suspect a massivley underrated player who, as some have said, does a lot of the unseen dirty work - closing people down, covering space, winning the ball back and offensively providing passing options by finding space and supporting people with his Duracell Bunny running power. He is also v versatile and in my view is probably the 4th option at the back (in a 3) as well as the 3rd option in the middle (in a 2).
However the 4th and 3rd options in 3s and 2s are the issue. He is limited by his lack of pace and quality on the ball - and despite always looking like he will score from those late and often well timed runs into the box - our only player seemingly capable of doing that ( MGW?)- he rarely does.
Thus I agree we should keep him as a squad player - unless the offer allowed us (contributed significantly to the required fee and note Dendonker is v well paid so wages as well) to acquire a first 11 player -Nunes or Barbosa (?)
Clearly if he left we might need a senior CM to cover his 3rd role and if you aren't buying one for the first 11 (Nunes? - pushing Moutinho into that role) but are buying a player for the first 11 in another posistion - (Barbosa?) then you would need to buy a reserve CM/CD as well - someone perhaps like Saiss unless you think Coady becomes the Mr Versatile covering CD and DCM?

Dendonker is under appreciated. My only issue with his game is his finishing. It seems to have gotten worse over the last couple of seasons. He gets into some good positions and gets quite a few good chances. If he was able to improve his finishing his transfer value would sky rocket.

Donk is a quality player. Fitted in seamlessly at the back when Boly was injured during Europa league campaign finishing 7th and a Europa qf shows the quality he possesses.
Never seen him in a back 4 would this be an option as he isn't slow and comfortable with ball at his feet.
Nuno and Bruno have struggled to find the best position for him.
Personally think he is similar to Saiss better in defence than midfield. Should be used as a target at set pieces.
