I've been reading that in addition to the Donny van de Beek interest Lage is still keen on Renato Sanches so Wolves will re-visit that one. One or the other I would imagine.
Also, they are looking to sign Hee Chan Hwang permanently for about £14M. Let's see what January brings.

{Ed002's Note - There is still interest from clubs, including Wolves, in Sanches.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Obviously Sanches is untried at PL level, but Hwang isn't. Four goals in eight appearances says that, plus a good disallowed goal against Everton. Hwang has taken to the PL like a duck to water. We could sign him in January. I would be interested in Donny as well, as he has at least settled into life in England, which is sometimes difficult to do, unlike Rafa Mir, etc.

{Ed001's Note - Sanches isn't untried at PL level - he played and flopped badly for Swansea in the Prem.}

Longmynd I think in Jan we need to add 3 bodies - net not gross! .
I was thinking 2 CBs and one CM but if you take both of those 2 plus one CB it would make a great Jan.
If we get two mids you move Dendonker back to CB cover not CM cover!
If i'm being greedy I would want a back up CF in case Jimenez gets an injury as i'm not sure Hwang down the middle on his own would work?
Thoughts?

To be fair Ed002 that's been a few years ago now 2017/18, he does appear to have come on a bit.

TFOG I think that's not far off, however, with Kilman and Saiss playing so well now and with Boly in reserve and Dendonkers ability to cover at CB I think Lage will focus on a skilful attacking midfielder to play with Neves. Moutinho will inevitably need more downtime.

Maybe, a loan striker to cover Raul, but as they've said they won't take just anybody.

Still a bit mystified with the Traore situation unless a deal is already done for a January move. It was interesting how well the team worked on Monday without him. I always felt Nuno unbalanced the side just to fit him in.

{Ed001's Note - it's 1 not 2! Not convinced he has come on, he is playing in a weak league, constantly picks up niggly injuries and still the same slow-thinking player he was back then. He doesn't look suited to a fast-paced league, it is that simple. He has the speed of thought of roadkill, but you can get away with it in France where you have time and space on the ball. Similar to international footie, it is a totally different game to the Prem.}

03 Nov 2021 13:57:51
Sorry Ed001 I didn't notice that it was you commenting. Apparently, Liverpool and Arsenal are amongst the clubs considering him, besides Wolves.
Personally, I don't follow French football so I can't comment, but as you say the Prem is another level, in terms of pace of play.

{Ed001's Note - I know, I dread the thought of Liverpool signing him! Given time and space he is a good player, but so are most professional players as it is easy to play when given time and space. He also has a terrible fitness record and carries way too much weight, I have no idea why Liverpool would have any interest in him, he does not fit Klopp's style at all. At least he has stopped passing to advertising hoardings now, so he has improved from his Swansea days....}

03 Nov 2021 15:06:36
Ed001. Nothing like being a bit bitchy, speak your mind why don't you! I think with Bruno knowing the player well ATM I trust his judgement and I think if he get his shirt on the right way round he'd be better than some of the players we've been linked too in the last twelve months or so!

{Ed001's Note - hardly being bitchy, I could have said a lot more if I was. You can trust his judgement, but it was him that pushed to take him to Swansea too, so not sure I would be that keen to trust that kind of judgement.}

03 Nov 2021 16:11:58
I can see both sides of the argument here. During Euro 2016, Sanches was a revelation and got a big move to Bayern Munich but couldn't replicate his form. Swansea was a disaster and the move to Lille has rekindled his career. If Bruno can get him adjusted to the pace of the PL, he could be an asset to us. There are many players in the PL who have come from France and some have adapted well, (Marcal and Ait-Nouri spring to mind) whereas some won't (Morgan Sansom). Hopefully we will loan him in order to see how he settles rather than buy him outright.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed if you get him, he works out for you.}

There talk of wolves in for highly rated Stoke defender 23 years old apologies I don't have his name.
I'm sure someone will put his name on.
I think sanches can be a cracking signing and hopefully like Ed001 says if we get him he works out to be a cracking signing for us.
All I do is put my trust in fosun and Lage if they sign him to me they must have the belief that he is a quality addition.
When he in a wolves shirt then all will be decided good/bad.
All a matter of opinions and this is mine.?

03 Nov 2021 18:00:43
Passing to advertising hoardings ? I might be jumping to conclusions here, but I'm guessing you're not a fan. ?

03 Nov 2021 18:02:49
I think Hwang is obviously a no brainer.

Donny van de Beek makes sense as an addition too. More attacking threat from midfield. I actually think he is slightly underrated on the defensive end too. Can definitely put a tackle in.

I'd love to see the Renato addition especially with the progress he has made. I hold reservations whether he would jump from a Champions League team, albeit its only Lille not a top tier CL team. The ingredients are there. Gestifute cleint and Portuguese. Let's see.

03 Nov 2021 18:12:15
Harry Souttar the highly rated Stoke defender.

03 Nov 2021 19:52:49
Phil - seen that but as BullyB always says the British premium may put us off?
Longmynd - I hear you re Kilman but Boly and Saiss will be gone for AFN this Jan and are both the wrong side of 30 and in Boly's case in particular are starting to become injury prone. Given we play with 3 and only have 4 plus Dendonker we are probably a body short anyway so I think we def need to add 1 and as I say would probably prefer 2 as I think Neves, Moutinho and 1 backed up by Dendonker is more "adequate" than our back 3 options plus 1.
Interesting the views on Sanches - I have to admit my only knowledge of him is Swansea so tend to agree with Ed 01 but his reviews from France have been v strong and Lage to date has done enough more than earn my trust and if he wants him v happy to go down that route.
Surely we could also have the same thoughts on Van de Beek - his time at United for whatever reason has been far from successful but his time at Ajax was a huge success?

I think January window it's going to be very hard to find a club where they going to sell a premier league quality c/b.
The homegrown route agree the price will be inflated in the Stoke defender.
The rise of kilman this season has been brilliant.
Mosquera I looked back the forecast for his return is an estimate with such surgery he had usually 4 to 5 months so it looks a little too close for his return when boly and saiss are away in Africa cup of nations but it may be, (there's still 2 months before January.)
We could get a loan.player who knows it's just a guessing game at present.

03 Nov 2021 20:30:04
Sorry Longmynd didn't comment on your Traore point. If you have ever read my posts on here you know I am a massive fan!
However with Neto coming back and Hwang playing so well we do appear well stocked with "Widemen" {Podence is excellent and Trincao will have his fans as well) cf CB,CM CF.
Surely if we do sell him though we must get far more than the £35m being touted. He is twice the player Jota is and he went for £40m and look how he has worked out playing for a side able to exploit his talents better than we did/can.
To get the best out of Traore we do need to play faster and more directly than we currently are doing so but if we want to be a top side we need to do that anyway!

03 Nov 2021 21:13:52
Phil as always you make sensible points.
Yes it is going to be v hard - Jan is normally even tougher than Summer!
But despite Kilman's emergence, who has been a revelation, I think we do need to get someone in (sadly agree Jan will come too soon for Yerson and he is still a player with potential not a proven article as he has virtually no adult football behind him and what he has is in Columbia - hardly Prem league standard).
Could Sanderson be brought back and do a job - although he is also unproven at the very top level?
However you look at it its going to be interesting.
ps Do you remember us discussing the next 8 games - 5 games ago. The predictions looking good now. Fingers crosed we can close out the 8 undefeated and with perhaps another couple of wins!
pps Merry Christmas!

03 Nov 2021 21:33:45
Phil - wacky idea
What about taking that chap Nat Phillips from Liverpool as part of the money they owe us?
He was excellent for them as an out and out old fashioned stopper - something we lack when Boly isn't playing - and we shoud be able to negotiate a good deal given the "relationship" between the clubs I e they still owe us a bucket load for Jota and want to buy Traore (as will half the top clubs in Europe!).

03 Nov 2021 21:40:41
Sound mate I do remember your predictions think we both smiling now.
Long may it continue our good form.

Ps cheers ?

Lol the fireworks are too loud my cat is shivering under my Xmas tree.
Lol up the wolves.

I must admit TFOG that I hadn't considered the AFN re; Boly and Saiss, so yes another central defender may well be under consideration. May even be a Sanderson recall, as you suggest.

No problem on a Traore response, I admit he is a real crowd pleaser and I do agree the game needs to keep up with him. Maybe this has contributed to his 'no end product' reputation as only the very best can do it all alone.

As the team evolves into Lage's faster attacking model he may become more effective but I just think he will get sold as his 'imminent signature' hasn't happened. The club seem pretty adamant on £50M, however.

12 Nov 2021 16:51:40
Hi Thefutureisgold, I really do have to disagree with Traore being better than Jota .
Yes he is more dynamic and exciting moving forward but loses the ball to often same when he tries to bring the ball out of defence causes us problems,and of course not much of an end product.
Jota who I rated very highly was excellent when bringing the ball out yes he lost it sometimes but had great link up with Raul hence both scored goals. As someone has said I think Nuno unbalanced the side because he had to have Traore in and I think the tactics were wrong. Jota was a tough cookie and didn’t sit on his ass slapping the floor when he lost the ball,
Don’t get me wrong I love to watch Traore in full flow but he’ 25 now and we cannot wait forever

12 Nov 2021 16:58:54
Forgot to say that Jota was a far far better team player than Traore
