Neves to arsenal. Many credible sources on this one

Wolves open to sell. 34 million mooted seems too low still.

Unlike many I do think losing him was a matter of time. I'd prefer not to see him go yet, but if rumours are to be believed we need to raise the cash.

Joao Palinha could be a good option for us.

Do like neves but do think the last two seasons has being below his best, not sure if nuno plays him in best position though, I would keep him see what new managers can get out of him.

Re Neves we should be building our team round the bloke.
Nuno 'mis-used' him and played him too deep last season.
I read a lot of times fans saying how poor Neves was so to them he will be no loss, to me he would be a massive loss sorry.
£35m doesn't buy you a fat lot these days, it certainly won't buy us a ready made replacement.

Defensive midfielders are 2 a penny. If he was instructed to be more offensive i'd keep him as he's got a great shot in his Arsenal. Whoops. :/.

06 Jun 2021 22:28:05
Question: who is available as young, as good, as experienced and also that wants to play for us? Now how many are £35m or less?

06 Jun 2021 22:32:33
Raging bull, so are dumb comments it would seem.

Name me 3 world class "DMs" . I can name Rice in the prem. He is best Defensive Mid and sorry but I think Neves is miles better. Rice is hyped up cause England paid him to be a scumbag. I mean the two best midfielders in the prem are KDB and Foden. Which one of them is a defensive mid?

Lage system requires two very physical and aggressive sitters. Neves gets by passed quite easily in the middle. He can make the tackle more likely to make the foul.

07 Jun 2021 06:58:40
If wolves were to sell neves, would should at least be getting 50 mill, which we will accept, he has been a great servant to us, but times change it’s 50/ 50 with me keep or sell.

It's interesting to read. I think this transfer window is exciting. We have played defensive counter attacking football for 4 years.

The whole squad needs to be refreshed and reset in my opinion.

Neves for 35m seems cheap but if they get two good Barcelona youngsters for 35m then that may be value for money. Last season they sold Doherty and Jota and got one of the best right backs in Europe and a European wonder kid. Okay it didn't come off but you can see that the club invests in the best.

{Ed077's Note - Semedo, as one of the best RBs in Europe?? Really?}

07 Jun 2021 09:49:09
I'm with you madman with the transfer window being exciting.
Very intriguing to see how it pans out.
I think semedo being one of the best in Europe I see that's what we all thought when we signed him as he was a regular for one of the best teams in Europe-Barcelona.
With his second season in a new country and league with football back to normal with crowds back I personally have high hopes for him.
We wait and see eh.
FWAW.

07 Jun 2021 09:49:32
That’s y he is called madman 😀.

07 Jun 2021 10:57:42
Neves has not progressed as expected. That may be due to players around him, His shooting boots have deserted. If he is ready to move on I see no point in keeping him. Arsenal 50 mill please. COYW.

07 Jun 2021 11:51:08
The liability is Dendonkey as he doesn't support Neves one bit and makes him look stupid. Can't you see that guys his marking is non existent and runs around like a headless chicken.

07 Jun 2021 12:21:45
Considering Donk spent most of the last 2 season in defence You can't really single him out as a weak link, he is the energy we need in middle of park alongside Neves, playing a system where we use midfield more instead of just going for the counter attack all the time will suit him and Neves, I would be in the thinking we will play more through the middle with new coach, and the like of Neto Podense Adama Raul to be more involved in the game instead of trying to do it all alone.

07 Jun 2021 13:25:55
We get more points on table with Donk in the team than without him.

07 Jun 2021 18:07:42
Donk gets a bad rep on this site he brings pace to midfield which Neves doesn't have and Moutinho is slowly losing

I agree with Italia if we want a defensive MF then put Saiss back there Neves does a good enough job but we know what he can do on the edge of the box

Premier midfielders are going to be too expensive or no better than what we have it's not like Kante or Foden is going to join us anyway we need to look at a player doing well in the championship or go back to drink from the Portuguese well.

07 Jun 2021 18:40:07
Name 10 better right backs in Europe.? 😂😂😂
Semedo is a step up from Doherty with possession based football.

07 Jun 2021 19:01:26
PUT A DONK ON It come on this again dendocker does as the boss says but from 1 game to the next he is playing everywhere I personally think he does his best every time he puts on the shirt I'm looking forward to seeing some of you eat your words when the new boss plays him in 1 position.

07 Jun 2021 19:04:25
I could name you four better ones just from the England team let alone the rest of Europe! 🤣.

07 Jun 2021 19:59:16
Yeah Bully but I bet Portugal get to the final and probably win it. 😂.

07 Jun 2021 20:34:53
BB and Madman the point is probably moot.
In possesion based football Semedo is fine and indeed as you say Madman better than Doherty.
Not sure if he is top 10 in Europe but probably top handful in Prem.
However under Nuno we didn't play possesion based football - or at least not succesfully- as most of the other players in the squad aren't suited to it.
No until last season we always played with a clearly defined system in which Doherty was superb and Semedo was actually still fine - not as good as Doherty - but absolutely fine.
What worries me though is that when we moved away from that system at times last season and played the more open 433 style Semedo was merely a modest (actually probably better than Doherty would have been - Spurs 20/ 21) player due to his defensive inadequacies.
We are told that it is a version of this style that Lage plays. Consequently it is likely that Semedo will struggle and it must be possible that we will have another £35m player that needs to be benched!

07 Jun 2021 21:38:34
I'd take that bet! Have you looked at the groups Mad?! Cause with Germany and France in there's they will do well to get past that to be honest!

07 Jun 2021 19:43:59
Excuse me Ed, surely you should drug test posters that suggest Semedo can defend let alone be the best right-back in Europe (merely jesting but you know what I mean ‘arry)?

{Ed077's Note - I would sweep it under the carpet this one time and blame the covid vaccines ;-P}

08 Jun 2021 06:30:49
I stated what we thought when we signed semedo clearly semedo was a big let down and on last seasons showing was nowhere near one of the best In Europe.

Going on euros I see us as it's always been, we get out the group stage england songs on the radio england flags in every other car window, outside pubs (if it's still allowed and not stopped by snowflakes) a week or half a week later england lose and thousands and thousands of england flags in all the hedgerows.
Lol.

08 Jun 2021 19:47:33
Can we drug test the posters that think Coady and Traore are world class? And that Neves is irreplaceable.

Semedo had lessons defensively last season. But he still linked up well and came up with some assists. In a team sheet that didn't put 2 games together let alone 10 as seen under Nuno in previous seasons.
