Like we've gone back in time but. heavily linked with Renato Sanches again.
In fairness at Lille he looks to be turning into the player people thought he could be.
Its what we are crying out for in terms of dynamism in the middle. doesn't get much more than him, ideally a midfielder who offers a bit of everything.

If we could get him back to where he was in 2016 he would be an incredible signing - still only 23.
However he seems to have been struggling and indeed has barely played since 2016 - a long time ago.
Consequently it would be a gamble but if he was as good as he might have been we wouldn't have a sniff now as he would be a regular at one of the world's leading sides and not lookng for a move to Wolves!
For me then its a maybe but I think we could do better - although I guess it all depends on wages and fees we would be looking at for the various options.

Tom - I want to believe that when people make statements on here they do so for a reason but.?
Didn't he claim that there would be one change to the team against LC only for Nuno to send out the same 11?
However to be fair I think he did identify a "surprise" against Palace and RAN "surprisingly" made his debut?
I would point out though that in the same thread I explicitly suggested we should pick RAN as we needed his (ALLEGED) attacking verve - even though I admitted I knew nothing about him.
So perhaps I am fitting facts to his statements overly generously.

We need midfielders who offer more going forward. It's a no brainer. I'd liked to have seen more of Vitinha by now. Obviously slowly integrated into the team.
That said we don't start using these players they will soon won't to move on. Look at Pedro Goncalves we had. Never played a game. he's absolutely tearing it up now at Sporting Bruno fernandes style.

Tom - agree with both your points.
We def need to improve the midfield balance and you are correct that the new players need integrating.
The integration is however hard to do especially as we got knocked out of league cup - the only "free" games - in the 1st round.
Guess we aren't strong enough to "risk" playing players who may not be ready.
We can't carry a player as maybe some of the stronger teams can.
In the perfect world {or the one we should have been living in last August! ) we would have bought some players for now - ready to play guys - and some for the future who could have gone out on loan at Championship level sides to "harden" them up.
Perhaps Silva (and one or two of the others) need (s) to go out on loan in January but as he/ they is/ are (on) the bench that will require us to buy further players {FFP? } capable of playing now in January - Marcal types?
