How much were we in violation, Ed002? 50,000 or 5,000,000?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but it won't be £50k. Apart from the fines and the reduction in squad size, the club now has to reduce spending on transfers and in two years has to be shown to have broken even for 2019, 2020 and 2021 - which will likely mean no significant purchases and lots of sales.}

Ed I thought the reduction to squad size related to European competition so no issues next season but would be if we qualified in 21/ 22.

The total fine was something like £500k which Fosun have come out and said would have little effect on transfer funds as it has already been addressed and factored into the next 3 years finances.

{Ed002's Note - It runs for three years and only applies to European competition. If Fosun have said that then they are not expecting to spend much for the next two years.}

Can I just confirm Ed, that your post is speculation and your opinion and not expert or inside information?

{Ed002's Note - I assume you don't understand what has happened. I have explained repeatedly that there was trouble coming. The Wolves fans continue to be of the opinion that the owners are going to continue to through transfer money at the club - they simply don't get it either.}

I never argued that you was wrong, nor have I stated that I know anything of the matter. I was asking a question. I’ve noticed you post similar things on other fan sites, so I wondered if you had inside knowledge. And to be honest you are quite rude. Anytime anyone questions anything you say, you throw your toys out of the pram and say “you don’t understand”. All I wanted was you to confirm if this was your opinion and speculation or if you had contacts inside the club.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the same to the supporters of other clubs that have FFP issues such as Everton and Aston Villa (whose fans are as bewildered as the Wolves fans about the entire matter). I cannot be blamed for your ignorance.}

I’ve been told by someone far more clued up on these things than me that Fosun knew this was coming and the consequences but it would not effect the project.
Ed you know no more than the owners of the club surely, you may talk down to dreamy fans, but Fosun are no fools.

{Ed002's Note - Of course the Fosuns knew this was coming - but as I have explained they cannot throw money at transfers any longer and have two years to get back to where they should be. That means transfer spending has to be offset by income.}

The fine was because we posted a loss of over the allowed amount up to January this year. Wolves have promised to get this debt down to below £27m over the next 3 years. In order to do this Fosun will have to tighten the purse strings. However, Fosun have said that this is not going to have as big an impact as first thought due to FFP dictating how much we spend as we can only spend a certain % against all incoming money. Although limited by income due to fans and shirt sales etc, Fosun are in the process of growing our brand worldwide which will increase our spending potential. But as Ed002 says, Fosun can't just throw money at the club.

So we sell jiminez Traore and Neves for 200 million where does that leave us
Probably the same as when Liverpool sold Torres Suarez and Coutinio.

{Ed002's Note - It depends if they are replaced - and the punishment is already in place.}

Looking at man city and Barcelona all the money they have. They have well and truly flopped and messed up. Sterling if he was doing a normal job like us fans he would be sacked on the spot for that miss.
The Realist fair play for doing your bit buying all the new wolves stuff👍
Whatever any non wolves fans say our club is on the way up. there's only a handful of signings since fosun that haven't worked out. I'm confident we will maintain our progression the right signings more experience for our players in the premier league and playing together as a team.
All mentioned above on ffp I will believe it when I see it until then the dream is there we will add quality to our squad. If we can't through ffp and have to sell to buy so be it. All will be confirmed in the next month or so.

The annual cost of buying a new player (for FFP consequences I guess) will be his transfer cost divided by the number of years his contract plus his annual gross salary + ERS NIC + benefits + bonuses + insurance costs along with any other direct costs associated with that player. Loan to buy might be beneficial where the original owner of the player pays some of his salary during the loan period.
So I’m guessing, as inferred by Ed, it’s time to get real and get behind the recruitment team to think outside the box and pare back our aspirations on the transfer front.

16 Aug 2020 18:00:41
Nuno said after sevilla loss we need to add quality players to the squad to help the team. This is what made me think we will be signings quality players and a good chance we won't be selling anyone. If I have read too much into that only time will tell which either way it goes I will be just as happy as I am now.

Loss of Europa League revenues, questionable gate revenues and maybe fewer TV matches won’t help.
Logically maybe a big sale might support a couple of small purchases. I’m not sure where that leaves us with having to push up Nuno and Boly’s salaries to retain their services?
It’s not a time for doom and gloom but a dose of reality and a season of consolidation won’t be the worst case scenario.
Let’s see.

I agree disheartening to read we are on the limit/ just passed.
On the plus side bloody well done Wolves for the confidence and investing, I can't think of anytime in my lifetime this would have been an issue with the sums involved i'm 56.

This FFP is another elitist rule by the elites nothing to do with protecting clubs from bankruptcy.
That would be simple do a check ask for proof does a club have sufficient capitol to finance the investment.

Luckily we have owners prepared to play it on the line, invest to grow, even if it means pushing the boundaries.

Keep in mind we are within the prems financial rules just not European elitists.

I have confidence our owners know what they are doing and rightly are sailing as close to the wind as they can to gain maximum investment to obtain maximum return to keep the club growing.
Investment/ success = greater returns allowing greater investment.

We are trying to upset the apple cart and its been made as difficult as possible by pointless rules that protect no one but the clubs already with the exposure and greater revenue.

17 Aug 2020 22:59:43
Forgive me if I am mistaken however I was lead to believe that the issue that caused the FFP breach was actually to do with the bonuses paid when we were promoted from the Championship which pushed us just below the Premier League threshold but over the UEFA threshold which is more stringent as it was not imagined we would make a European competiton after out first season in the Premier league. This season with the £40m from the Cav and Costa deals we should more than break even and this should offset the bonuses issue.

{Ed002's Note - No, you are missing the bigger point. Clubs cannot operate using funds that they have not earned subject to a small additional amount of money that can be injected by the owners.}
