New poster, reader fur a while.

I am still optimistic for Wolves. I am aware of our need for an outright striker but I feel we are coming together nicely at a steady pace and are not just downside for the sake of it.
We have made mistakes in our transfers for sure but still got a quality team. Arsenal have taken 4/5 seasons to become good. Man U brought all the expensive players they could and are still not performing

Agree0 Disagree0

Welcome to the site Rince mate,
we are 1 point better off than we was this time last season too.

Welcome to you rincewolf, absolutely spot on. We are changing at a steady pace if we get a couple more players in the next couple of weeks and keep what we've got I think we'll be looking good. Spurs will be an interesting game.

Welcome Rince, your right Rome wasn't built in a day. Look how many of our players are coveted by other top clubs in every transfer window, that should tell us something.

Don't disagree with these views and we do have some talented players, the trick is getting them to gel together and produce results and if it doesn't happen soon we will live to regret it. So Lage needs to find the right solutions, it's not just down to lack of strikers.

Not true.we had the basis of a great team when we came up but the strategy changed.good players were sold and not replaced.the obvious deficiency in the squad were not addressed and still haven't been.bad recruitment and wasted money on generational talent when all we needed was one or two quality upgrades on what we had each season would have seen us in a far stronger position than we are now.we are back to square one but I will add that guides and Collins are upgrades but we need a lot more than two.

However we could have spent big and ended up in a big financial mess. The only player we downgraded in my eyes has been Jota.

I keep hearing about what a good player ait nouri is.the guy is a terrible defender.an absolute liability. Just Saunders around.cost us a point last week and nearly cost us the game last week.fulham targeted him yesterday as do all the other teams.why can't anyone see this.took jonny off and left him on.as a defender he couldn't lace Johnny's boots

I agree Ait Nouri has work to do when coming back, but is very willing to get forward. He is young and will learn. Jonny I am guessing is still being a little protected. I will always be the optimist when it comes to Wolves. With a great striker, we could have won at Fulham, who are no pushover as their result last week shows.
On another point, I see that Lage is no longer the favourite to get sack

The problem is Timber that what we have done is bought excellent Wing backs (Nouri, Semedo and Jonny are all better at WB than FB) and are now expecting them to flawlessly step into the FB role. One of our best chances of the game came from Nouri getting down the wing and whipping a ball in and that's what wing backs do. In previous seasons he wouldn't have even been marking Reid because it would have been the left sided CB and Saiss would have decked him well before he got in the box (he was good at that:). As always we are smacking square pegs in round holes and when you do that there's going be time needed to make the peg fit. The problem is do we have the time, let's hope we do eh! ?

Rince - you are of course correct that with hindsight Jota was a bad sale and we have not replaced him. To be fair to the club at the time we sold him that did not look the case as he had clearly struggled that last year and was probably only 4th of our 4 wide forwards.
So for me even that doesn't warrant criticism.
However for me what does warrant constant criticism is that we haven't upgraded much either despite the passage of time meaning that the players that are in the side are getting old and less effective.
Until this summer 9 of the first 11 were from pre Seville and whilst I like Semedo it isn't even obvious, despite the huge fee and wages disparity, that he is a much more effective player than Doherty was - notably in both boxes - although I accept he is clearly better in the middle of the park. {Sa is obviously better than Patricio was by the end}
Ironically your second throw away point of not spending big and ending in a financial mess would however appear to be wide of the mark - we have actually spent a lot of money (fees and wages) and now do appear to be financialy strapped. The problem is that money has largely been spent on playere who don't make the team.
Thus whilst I agree we still have a v good side mainly the players from pre Seville it is hard to say we are building a side. Indeed in reality we have been until this summer at least slowly watching a side disintergrate.
How we failed to upgrade or replace/support at the very least Boly, Saiss, Moutinho and the tragcally injured Jimenez {how much has David Luiz cost us so far and if we do get relegated how much will it top out at?} in 4 windows is a criminal offence
In the last few days of the window we therefore desperately need to find a top quality replacement for Jimenenz, support for Moutinho and now since Coady left another Premier league ready CB at the very minimum.
Despite your comments on our financial status I am sceptical we have the stomach or money to do this and fear that we are in for another year of going backwards - our 3rd since Seville. Not really building?

Semedo will be back and jonny can go left. RAN can be let go if money right, we have superb understudy in bueno. Any finance that gets us that midfield and striker will be well used.

14 Aug 2022 11:09:14
Too right.defenders should defend.we don't play with wing backs anymore so ait nouri shouldn't be anywhere near the back.we have supposedly gone to a back four hence coady going whether that's right or not.i take on board what everyone says and like us all I want the best for wolves but I do worry about how things are going.weve needed a striker and midfielder for at least 3 transfer windows now and it may still happen but if we lose at spurs next week we are playing catch up again which in this league is a dangerous game

14 Aug 2022 11:43:40
Ait-Nouri has the makings of a top left back and it would be folly to let him go as we are very short in numbers at full back. For me,Jonny is more of a concern. He was clearly off the pace when he returned last season and his two performances this season make me worry particularly in a back four where his lack of pace is more exposed.
