If Rumours are to be believed there seems to be a changing of the guard at Molineaux with the rumoured leaving of captain Coady, Gibbs White to Forest etc. problem is no great shakes incoming.
Change is inevitable however, surely replacement of first team squad should be mapped out and acted upon prior to the first game of the season?
Motivation of players surely isn’t good if so many of the squad are unhappy?

Only Time will tell, I would be very sorry to see Coady go, massive part of the squad and key to the teams stability. That being said, if he goes I wish him well, as for MGW he has still to prove himself, which I believe he will, bit I think theor maybe ego issues that are hindering his talent.
Whatever happens changes are needed, but as you say,the squad needs to be strengthened first.
I hope both stay and we bring in a decent forward and put all this rumour rubbish behind us, it's been very frustrating reading all.the gossip on how our club are being pulled to shreads by the big boys.
Let's get behind the squad and Bruno. FWAW

Ex Ref why the assumption that players in the squad are unhappy? Coady apparently is not part of the plans with the new shape so there is an issue where a move might be considered in a World Cup year. MGW is being stalked by other clubs. The club needs to state that he’s not for sale and politely tell those clubs to go away. It’s not ideal preparing for the first game of the season when hearing those rumours.
I agree that the above are unsettling issues for squad members but do not necessarily imply unhappiness.
My worry is adding such issues to a paper-thin squad.
The game tomorrow could be a bit of a war (possibly afters following on from the feisty and poorly officiated game at Molineux earlier in the year?) and the possibility of additional injuries and even red cards (Lage looks to be looking for greater commitment in individual battles on the evidence of pre-season) would be a disaster to our season start regardless of the result. There was an interesting thread recently noting how crucial our first 6 games are.I agree with this and am just hoping for a good clean game tomorrow without histrionics and drama of the wrong kind!

Bruno says to fans don't worry we're working on it and he expects to have a squad to be proud of by the end of the transfer window!

Let's hope we all agree with him by then. He sounds confident, not so sure I am yet tbh. We shall see!

At moment we won't sell mgw. As we've no one to bring in,
Lage praises coady for the last six years, does that mean he's going.
Wish they would hurry up with a striker.

The trouble is shi and sellers are probably feeding him the same bull they are telling us. Trying our best. Money to spend. Working day and night to find the right players. BLAR BLAR BLAR. Trouble is he believes it.

Still a NES - how are you sir?
I get the impression you don't post as often as you used to and as I tend to find your posts are very calm and balanced I have missed hearing from you?
ps what was your view on that, ("interesting" - thank you it was mine!), post which asked how many points we needed/would get from those first 6 "winnable" games we play prior to a 4 game run that may well yield 0 points.

Many thanks TFIOG, having recently retired I seem to be busier than ever but all is good in my world. A rib injury playing against 10-year olds means sadly I won’t be in contention to make the Wolves squad this month.
I hope you’re faring well too.
Yes it was a really good thread and put into context the perils of a poor start to the season. I fear that we’ll hit more roadblocks (injuries / red cards) at the start of the season and I’ll be glad when tomorrow’s game is finished and no injuries have actually occurred. Some of these early games are tough so I would be looking for at least 9-10 points from those first 6 games with performances to build on. Tomorrow’s line-up will be very good and the shape likely to be exciting so let’s hope Lage instils the discipline required to keep it intact and build some momentum moving toward the second tranche of 6 games.
I’m excited but pensive about the season and clearly we have some serious squad building to enact in the coming weeks.

Great analysis still a NES.

If there is such mutual respect between Coady and Lage, as the interview would lead you to believe, then I think Lage would have had a quiet chat with Coady at the end of last season about his plans for this season. These things don't just happen on Aug 1st or when the transfer window opens.
I think Coady IS this Wolves era and it would be a bloody shame to see him leave in such a quick and uneventful manner. He deserves better - if, indeed, any of it is actually true.
