So disappointing with the game against Sporting. Same problem as last season good approach Play no bite up front. Gibbs White didn’t look too happy when subbed with the whole set up. What happened to Dendonker again? Lots of running but very little else doesn’t look like an international player on this showing. Collins and Kilman look steady and both Ait Nouri and Johnny were showing well. Podence and Neto looked sharp but chances were few. It’s not looking good without a specialist striker let’s hope something materialises?

Imo he should have taken Cutrone and Bonatini to give them valuable game time.

Agree moutininho seemed missing at times and his passing was abit skewed at times but I could put that down to non movement of others at times, personally his signing new contract was welcomed by me, I think he carries a lot of influence in the squad and it helped 'stabilise' things. I wondered if dendonker had come out for second half. But your right Exref a lot of running nice touches but no end product. Striker ASAP.

Let's hope we can now dispel the notion that we can 'manage' without a striker.
The first half was a dominant display until Sporting decided to turn a friendly into a local derby. It did, however, show up our weaknesses in a more competitive game. Ok I accept that the nature of pre season training takes its toll with players 'feeling it by now' and I know it's a good opportunity to let certain U23's have a go but our squad at the moment looks paper thin, even taking that into account.
After scoring 16 goals in 6 previous (first team) friendlies, the goal drought returned, funny that.
Let's hope they do pull a rabbit or two out of the hat this week or I can see this season starting like the last one ended.
Not sure about Nunes either as I couldn't always track him in play due to the TV production. Kites constantly calling Hwang Chang didn't help until Mickey subtly corrected him.
I know it was only a friendly and it's not about the result but certain players need to calm down and stop falling for it. I also hope MGW little display when subbed was not a return to form after telling everyone he's matured. Disheartened, no, underwhelmed definitely.

I read MGW disquiet when coming off as a display of his disbelief of sporting (? Haha) tackling and kicking in a 'friendly'. Hopefully he'll commit to us soon. Your right longmynd, Nunes was hard to track, they all looked similar and the sponsor on the back shoulder detracted from the name, admittedly I didn't nknow what number he wore. I'm actually really looking forward to tonight and seeing the thinness of the squad in action. I'm guessing coady boly beuno hwang ronan sarkic will be on the list as main squad but who else?

31 Jul 2022 10:26:30
You're probably right about MGW Abbey, or I hope you are.
On Nunes I think that for me he didn't stand out on the pitch or feature greatly in the commentary, unless I missed a lot for the reasons discussed.
The player who has impressed, so far, is Ait Nouri, brilliant on occasion. Stick him up front lol.

Quite right longmynd but I thought he was going off when he understandably retaliated, it was good to see the lad keep his composure after the riling he got.

16 goals in 6 games then the goal drought returned, just because it doesn’t rain for one day doesn’t make it a drought. Can’t wait for the season to start so I don’t have to keep reading all this speculation and doom, thought we had lost last night till I looked it up. Jeff used to keep us informed but as he said wolves fans like to moan and are never happy so I’m not surprised he’s gone quiet. The players we have aren’t good enough apparently, same was said last year. We have got a tight group who are young so will improve, experience players don’t want to come to us (they must have realised it’s hard to please wolves fans) so we buy young talent but that’s not the right call either according to some. We have a solid defence that has been strengthened over the summer, Neto is back so fingers crossed, Adama might have a rocket up his backside and realise no one else wants him so sign a new contract, Hwang will be better I’m sure, Gibbs white has a point to prove, Jonny should be back to normal again, semedo coming back (we def missed him), we still have neves and there’s youth coming through. Plus we should sign another player at least but I for one will wait and see before panicking, if we are bottom at Christmas I might start to worry but until then I’m going to enjoy the fact we are in the top 20 teams in the country. Rant over

The goal drought returned because we didn't have a recognised striker aka Jimenez on the pitch Goatmark, that's all.
That game became competitive for whatever reason in the second half and the promise of the first half up front evaporated imo.
My point being if that attack is toothless in a friendly will it work in the Prem? No rant intended.

I've got this feeling that hwang will come good if he goes straight down the middle. I hope he's starting tonight.

My post wasn’t just directed at you long, also we did score a pen and isn’t that how Raul got one of his goals (I realise he brings more than just scoring goals). Obviously I’m hoping we do sign a striker but also hoping that we don’t need one, I don’t see the point in criticising the club about lack of signings as we don’t know all the ins and outs. Would we prefer to be like forest and sign 12 players? I think that would worry me more. Whatever happens I will believe we can win every game we play as I’m convinced it helps the team. If 30k fans are moaning and thinking the worst naturally the players will feel that. Which is why I pick holes in some of the comments, it’s nothing personal just trying to force my positivity on you all.

Having seen Hwang for almost a full season,I personally find it difficult to believe that he will come good, ie consistently produce 7 or 8/10 performances. He tries hard but so did Weimann. The quality just isn't there although occasionally he will do something very good;a bit like a certain speedster that we all know .

31 Jul 2022 15:03:15
Fair comment old wolf. I'm just hoping.

31 Jul 2022 16:20:53
I never get or take things personal Goat but Wolves do need another decent midfielder and a striker, you can't go through a season without injury cover or expecting the manager to switch his tactics because the squad is so thin. That's not being negative, just realistic.
