For those who'd like to have a go at Jeff Shi (or "Big Jeff" as most used to call him, before they started to wet the bed over money and transfers) there's a very interesting article in this evenings E&S on our local rivals WBA's current financial situation.

Be very grateful is what I'd say.

It was from yesterday (apologies) but my point remains the same.

Exactly Debbie I'd rather be a tightly run ship in the Prem than a skint club in the Chump, or lower. We've been there, it's not pretty so for the 'Fosun out' brigade that old saying springs to mind 'be careful what you wish for'.

Here here ?

I'll always take being the club being managed properly than ending up like Leeds or Portsmouth. I wasn't a fan of Moxey but he always kept us in the black

Birmingham City and Walsall are also struggling Debs but we are in the Premier League and should not be comparing ourselves to smaller lower league clubs.
I don’t think it was Jeff who identified Nathan Collins as a good player/investment and stumped up the cash to purchase him.We could have saved ourselves £10m by buying him from Stoke a couple of years ago.

Compare us to Villa then E who we have consistently outperformed under Fosuns ownership since we returned to the Prem. It's fair to say they had some owner related problems in the past whereas we've had a steady hand on the tiller.

I can see Villa getting hit with ffp punishment the way they're spending.

If we spent £10m on Collins when he was a teenager at Stoke, there would have been complaints he wasn't first team ready and we were paying too much signing an unproven defender from the Championship. As Rated says - Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Alex even the Burnley fans thought of him as backup when they bought him. It was only Mee getting injured that got him a run of games and bought him to everyone's attention.

I get the impression that by the end of this season Collins was seen as a successor for Ben Mee. He's a player I've always rated and agree with a few on here he's probably got another season in him at top flight level. I'm surprised nobody has gone in for Dwight McNeil yet as well, as I bet he wouldn't cost the earth for another club to bring in.

Never heard, 'Big Jeff' before. Isn't he all of 5'6"?

14 Jul 2022 12:03:55
If reports from his time at Stoke his excellent half season debut in the premier league then I don't know the length of Collins contract but I give possible lengths,
3 year contract = a cost of (roughly 7 million per season.

4 year contract = 5.25 million per season.

5 year contract = 4.20 million per season.

At his young age added to the equation not bad well imo very good.

There maybe negatives in our club but surely the positives are vastly greater.

Man O War : we ended up like Leeds and Portsmouth before they did, we’ve been a badly run Club, Debbie thinks we should be “grateful”, we were grateful when we were rescued from the Bhatti’s, more grateful when Sir Jack built us a little Stadium and grateful Steve Morgan carried on the good work, now we have owners with money that came in saying what they were going to do and have established us as a mid table team, we can only express our gratitude for so long, unfortunately owners with money doesn’t guarantee a well run Football Club and in the eyes of quite a few Fosun and Jeff make more bad decisions than good. Be interesting where people would rank Wolves in order of poorly run Clubs in the Prem, we must be running Man Utd pretty close and they’re fans are constantly protesting.

I would say we are looking to be one of the better run clubs in the league Ron, the big six get the lion's share of the money and we were on the cusp of barging in and upsetting them, that's when the TV monies get bigger because you are on sky and BT more, giving a greater fanbase abroad.
Fosun get that a brand has to be built in order to try and catch up, that to me shows that they know what they are doing, yes mistakes have been made, but rarely repeated.

14 Jul 2022 14:21:15
I think I read 4 or 5 with a 1 year extension option Phil.

14 Jul 2022 14:42:03
There will always be mistakes, they're only human. It's how they learn from them that matters and I think Fosun are learning as they go. You could see that between season 1 and 2 with Zenga and Nuno. I think in terms of the big picture they're doing things in the right way, but I do think that in modern football and to take the next step it would be wise to appoint a director of football to help the club. Unfortunately as other clubs have shown the wrong person in the job can be dangerous to a clubs PL status.

As Wolves fans we’re brought up to expect and accept mediocrity, it’s better than it was but it’s nowhere near as good as it could or should be, nothing will improve by standing still, this time next year after a mediocre season the only thing that will have changed is…we’ll all be another year older.

Oxley,I was brought up with wolves being a sleeping giant my dad lived and saw our 50's heyday.
I for one will always have the belief that what my dad wanted my brother and I to witness what he saw and wanted us both to see wolves like that again.
Yes a dream but that's what makes it the full 100% passion I have for wolves.
My dad obviously lived and saw the bhattis our near extinction but still took my brother and I down the mol.
It's our home town club where my dad brought us up.
I'm proud of my heritage proud of wolves and proud to talk of my great late dad.
Apologies for being personal and emotional and for taking things to heart.
Forever wolves are we.
