Hi all had a wonderful fabulous time tonight on the wolves stadium museum tour.
John Richards a proper proper gentleman a real nice guy.
There were 12 on the tour and was intimate with JR.
I shook his hand at least 4 times.
There loads I can say.
Longmynd I implore you to go with Mrs Longmynd as you said previously.
There were 3 couples there.
Go onto wolves ticket website and go on wolves stadium museum tour.
Wait till the ex player you want to meet and go for it.
Anyone who saw JR play I implore you to do what my brother and myself done tonight.
We went onto the pitch side sat in the dugout.
Looked at the grass it's hybrid.
I managed to get a Manchester City v wolverhampton wanderers league Cup final programme and King John signed it for me.
We went Billy Wrights locker room his memorablia very emotional as was what our dad bought us up on,the great 50's heyday.
Went in home and away changing rooms.
There was loads but too much to remember.
I asked JR any signings coming in he did not know,
An experience of a lifetime for both us.
My faith in wolves has been confirmed by my experience tonight.

Waggstaff JR said was the most skillful player he played with.
Peter Knowles left wolves and football 3 months after JR signed.
But older guys on the tour said Peter Knowles was by far better JR said every fan he speaks to says the same.

Sat in sir Jack's seat number 13 now shi seat.

The museum is brill that was at the end of the tour.

Who played at the 1980 league Cup final and the 1988 sherpa van trophy final?

07 Jul 2022 22:52:09
I'd say Peter Daniel, Phil. So glad you had a great time mate. As I have said before, King John is a real gentleman.

07 Jul 2022 23:16:42
Hi Phil, is the answer Peter Daniel?
Having met John Richards once in the early ‘80s I totally agree that the guy is a true gentleman.
And having seen all too little of Peter Knowles I have to say Waggy was the man!
Your tour sounded amazing ?

07 Jul 2022 23:43:38
Glad you enjoyed that Phil, I thought you might. I was at Wembley for that League Cup Final so happy memories there and I was also at the 1980 League Cup Final as well, Andy Gray scored the goal that beat Forest 1-0, as I'm sure you know. In fact, I've never seen Wolves lose at Wembley.
I'll take your advice and check out a tour so thanks for the report, you've wetted my appetite.

Also Waggy was as JR described him, best winger in England imo, I could tell you several stories about how good he was. Peter Knowles, however, was something else, a different type of player with outrageous talent. Both would top drawer today, talent wise.

Peter Daniel I think!
Glad to hear you had a good time Phil.

08 Jul 2022 05:24:57
Phil I knew you'd enjoy it, and I'm glad you did. JR is the consumate ambassador for the club. Waggy was indeed the talent he described, and also the first player to get a 'card' from the ref when they got brought in. Peter Knowles was our George best, his brother Cyril played for spurs. It was a shock when he gave us up for his religion.
Longmynd didn't you see us lose to Watford in semi? That's the only time I've seen us lose there. Phil I'm pleased and envious but it shows what a wonderful club we support. I'm Daniels in sherpa as well.

Thanks guys yes Peter Daniel's it was?

JR said his disappointment in today's game is the lack of importance in the domestic cups.
He showed us his uefa cup runners up medal it was the size of a £5 coin,he said not much is it and if you remember like the tokens you got off the petrol.
The league Cup final winners medal wasn't a medal it was a tankard he shown us that aswell.
We went in the press office room and I sat on one of the 3 chairs had photo took.
I gave a brief reinactment as if I was Bruno Lage lol.

A great time it was and for my brothers 50th.
Next year is my 50th and I'm hoping do it again with Steve Bull.
I asked JR what is it like when you score with the molineux crowd,he told me absolutely out of this world.
He said he scored I think it was agaisnt Leeds and it stopped Leeds doing the double.
One game he said he scored and the fans came on the pitch and one ripped his shirt off.
Years later working at cannock Council a guy came to him with a wolves shirt and it was the guy who had ripped his shirt off and he asked JR if he could sign it lol.
JR said he was earning £25 a week which was very good money in early 70's.
The Wolves are amazing absolutely amazing I'm proud so much to be wolves.

There is a song out there about Peter Knowles.
God's own footballer, give it a listen.

Hey all, not posted for a while. Glad you enjoyed the tour Phil, I did it couple of years ago with my daughter, wasn't ex players then but the guide was so knowledgeable and really knew the club and what he was talking about. Told us about Nunos way of dealing with half time talks was reverse psychology, if we were crap he'd put arms around the players but if we were playing well he would go on at them. Had photos in the press conference bit, the changing rooms, dugout etc. Is there still a pitch painted on the dressing room floor to discuss tactics or was that just for Nuno? It is a great experience to do for any fan

08 Jul 2022 11:22:21
Hi South Banker,
Yes there still is the pitch painted on the floor in the home dressing room.
The molineux tour guide told us Bruno Lage doesn't use it but Nuno used to.?
