Morn Abbey are you watching the match tomorrow night with your best mate like I am you your son me my brother?

Really looking forward to it as through work I'm not seeing my brother as much as I would like.

Wow its exciting times the run in to the end of the season.

I feel Newcastle defence is there to be exploited and feel we will score 2 goals at least hope we score more than 2 but still will be jumping for joy if we win 0-1.

I've just said that lostcity in reply to longmynd above. What are you chaps doing letting sons support other teams lol. When I was young my brother (rip) was avid wolves and I for 1 week 1 game supported Man city just to rile him. We shared a bedroom and I'd put up city pictures he came in and ripped em down. Never veered from my beloved wolves after that. Any how my son and me will be here, room decked out in gold and black. I've a hosp appt in the afternoon so me lads making us a pizza for my return. Fans should support a local team. I can't stand The Albion, but at least their fans follow a local side.

07 Apr 2022 17:42:54
Hope we are right Abbey. I think we'll get a penalty tomorrow.

Don't get me wrong lostcity I went to Oxford Utd on their glory years milk cup win and promotion to the top flight, saw some great games there beating man u arsenal etc. But wolves although not born in West mids always always my team. Comes from the 50s, oxford not in existence then and we were big. I used to get taken to whatever game was closest (lived north oxfordshire then) Coventry alot, brum, vile, never baggies, but I loved molineux,I loved coming into Wolverhampton and as I got older I loved the pubs (too much). So my lads have always gone to the mol and only to Oxford twice at the Manor ground to see us. Fa cup win and a 4-0 defeat. One boy lost all interest after pre season friendly v Newcastle at the mol. The others wolves through and through. I take your point about local teams and I guess my love from the 50s is abit like the lads in man u shirts walking around Burnley or wherever but I've been with us thick and thin and I'm proud to be a member like my son. Rambling over. P.s. you'd be surprised how many genuine wolves fans there are in my area.

I take your point Abbey. I can fully understand anyone falling in love with The Wolves. In the sixties, my cousin took me to The Molinuex one week and The Hawthorns the next. I instantly loved The Wolves and hated The Albion. I must admit that it does annoy me to see kids in Tipton wearing Manchester United shirts, when they have a club like Wolves on their doorstep.
I apologize if I upset any distant Wolves fans, I love you all.

Didn't upset me lostcity, just made me think and reflect, lots of things do that with age. Trouble is kids are influenced from the TV these days and have never been ( or once as a treat perhaps) to old Trafford etc possibly not even to the city. Silly really but every game wolves on tv my rooms like the club shop we've got flags scarfs etc hanging everywhere it all builds up the atmosphere and I'm in me late 60s. Kid at heart mate. Anyway 3-1 it is lostcity COYW.

Thanks Abbey. Do you remember Hughie Curran who was a hero for both Oxford and Wolves?

08 Apr 2022 06:05:58
Do I? Hughie had a pub in oxford after his career. Shared a few wolves memories (not always 100% accurate) with him. The pubs not there now and I think he had a sports club stewardship after that. He was an interesting guy with a tale to tell lostcity.

When I started following The Wolves, Hughie Mcilmoyle was our centre forward. Do you remember him?

08 Apr 2022 13:54:12
Simple answer lostcity, no. I'm sure others will, but I can't recall at mo.

08 Apr 2022 15:19:19
Just looked him up lostcity, 64-67 I honestly don't recall him. My mind was most probably on other things than players names then.

08 Apr 2022 16:19:21
Hugh Mcilmoyle is still a legend in Carlisle. I believe they have a statue of him outside their ground.
