I like Bruno.
I like his calmness and his after match interviews.I like the way he didn't make wholesale changes when he came in but took the time to assess the players he had at the club. The board need to back him in January and let him bring in the players he needs.
Raul Jimenez is up there with Steve Bull and John Richards but

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi everyone. Hope you are well. I have not commented for a while due to my doom- ladened outlook. The positives: 21 points before Christmas-the defence, particularly Sa and Kilman-outstanding. The negatives: for the second season in a row, a total lack of creativity and goalscoring-which I am afraid will cost us. Lage-I am still unsure-to me he is no better than Nuno from last season-HOWEVER- he has little to work with, so in essence it is understandable why he has gone more negative since the first three games. Worstcase and ongoing scenario: simple: Shi and Fosun-they need to sell or state their truthful intentions because, for whatever reason they appear to have made it clear that their will be no new fresh investment for players.

Hi SQ I'm well thankyou glad you are too and good to see you post.

I'm confused to why if true there are no funds for players.
I guessing the c.v. didn't help and I read we were in 40 million in the red after c.v.

I'm sure Fosun/shi will address the issues on funds but last transfer window shi did say the funds were there for Lage but the players available were not as good as we already have.

I get the best out of seeing us in the top flight by having the view that we need ongoing improvement in upgrade of personal and while waiting for that to happen with our small squad and injuries we are holding our own and when we do get the upgrade of personal I think wow we are going to be some team.

There is concern that won't happen and I can't question that but believe we will.

The squad could do with a couple of fresh faces in January if possible. Throwing money at it isn't always the answer though, it's about spending money wisely. Everton have thrown money at their squad for the best part of 5 years. I'd rather be where wolves are now than see a £500 million investment and still be a mid table team.

Welcome back SQ. You're about right in your summary and at least you're not talking relegation at the moment. If Lage is no better than Nuno, he's certainly no worse. Given that Nuno was probably the most successful manager since Cullis, and in my view Lage is at least his equal, then we are in good hands in the coaching side. Pity that Jeff has blundered in the transfer market. It's a crying shame that Silva was signed, but that wasn't Lage's fault. It was probably influenced by the sale of Jota. It's to Lage's credit that he isn't playing Silva, when he could so easily do to keep in Jeff's good books. It's Lage's way or the highway. I think Lage has gone more negative after the first three games as it was obvious that there wasn't sufficient depth in the squad to play a pressing game. He's had to be more pragmatic and Nuno-like. Things will change if Lage is backed in the January transfer market.

The first 3 games we pressed higher, created loads of chances we lost each game
1-0 but we looked a decent footballing side. I think Bruno got cold feet with his attacking style, and imo we now look a very ordinary side apart from the first half against Everton when we again looked impressive. If we reverted back to that pressing attacking style we would win far more than we would lose, and give us fans a great deal more excitement and satisfaction.Hope we have a go at city,we may concede a few but we CAN cause them problems or we can try defending in depth again and be punished by the odd goal
