The game wasn't the best, but 3 points away from home, a clean sheet and daylight from the bottom 3. Plenty of positives.

Definitely a turning point for him!
A better result today of course but we can’t keep giving the ball away in midfield nor should we continue to treat the ball like a hit potato in defence.
Definitely need a more defensive midfielder to make those tackles stick!
Great to see the win hope it gives the side more confidence .
On another point why does it take 10 minutes or more to give instructions to subs before they come on?
Is Lage making things more complicated than necessary?

Superbly taken goal from raul and a welcome 3 points. Apart from that a pedestrian dull performance. Sa proving his worth let's not forget.
But samedo kilman marcel dendonker where was the urgency? Coady did well in situations he shouldn't have found himself in. Podence industrious and either wasteful or let down by lack of movement. Not sure where hwang fitted in. Sky TV contrived to almost miss the goal, but gave us ample coverage of matt le Tissues. Grey shirts grey performance but with that little bit of gold the difference.

Yes Greyleg we have a good run of games before a difficult period over Christmas. We can't afford to gift the sides in the bottom half 3 points this time out. In previous seasons we could get them back against the top 6. Don't think that will be the case this season.

Phil - I did enjoy and was delighted that Coady answered the qs we discussed. Thought he had his best game of the season.
How will we line up v Newcastle - did any of the changes impress you enough to stick with them - would you keep Neves on the bench?
ps Sa was magnificent and the swap - which I have previously described as the best move of the last window (if not the last 3) looks better and better!

Think podence didn't take his opportunity today so will assume Traore will start in place of podence.
Hwang had quiet game offensively but did a lot of hard work.
Unsure on marcal whether ait Nouri will take his place.
Same with saiss and big Boly.

A good question umm I think a possibility jiminez and Traore up top with neves coming in for hwang playing dendonker mouthino and neves semedo and marcal/ ait nouri bombing forward down the flanks.
Newcastle/ Bruce plays a rigid compact formation so guessing a tight hard fought game.

Phil - like the idea of 3 in mid. I think relieved of some of his defensive running Moutinho could still open sides up with his passing, skill and vision. But Jimenez and 1 migght be a bit lightweight up front?
For me it would be Traore and Jimenez but i'd ask Semedo and RAN (Assuming he does come in for Marcal to improve our attacking threat down the left) to get up and support the front 2.
Maybe away or against better teams i'd go that way but surely home to Newcastle we should still play 3 up front?
ps what was your view on Walker Peters? For me at least a yellow and possibly even a red? But nothing given at all.
