That Jeff shi I absolutely love him that article says everything we had money just the targets we wanted didn't want to come and Bruno had say who we brought in and we could of added 3 more players but Bruno didn't want any of them so we will have other targets for January and a list of players Bruno would like to bring the future is looking bright and proves FOSUN are willing to invest in the team and the manager has the final decision the fact that Jeff Bruno and the rest were in office till late deadline day until Bruno said we are done says everything.

I'm not about to make any judgement but just a statement of what I understand. We have a very good relationship with Mendes and his Gestifute agency, in fact Fosun own 20 percent of it. We have been looking for a centre back and an attacking midfield player for around 12 months. Money is not the problem we are told. Ok so I'm not sure I understand why it is proving to be so hard to find the right players. Anyone got any idea?

I don't know the answers Ken but I believe fosun shi Lage are a lot more disappointed and frustrated as us fans.

Ken68, it's because Lage only wants to sign players that are better than we already have. The big problem we face is that these same players are unwilling to leave their current club because they are playing in the European club competitions.

Also wolverhampton it's self isn't attractive to these top targets but that's something we have to deal with get players like Ruben who not only said yes I'll sign for wolves and it can only get easier with these players saying us fans make them feel so welcome and they love it here atleast we haven't got player's meeting up drinking and spending there cash in night clubs and vip bars there all about the football and family life not the party life so I'll take that any day we just need to cast our net further field than Portugal like Spain have some quality footballers and other countries we for some reason choose Portugal route.

It's always the difficulty with the transfer market - the more successful a club is, the fewer players there are out there to improve the team so the more they cost. When you can't offer the highest level of football (Europe) it's a harder sell. The only real way around it is signing players with potential and developing them at the club.
The market has evolved in the last 10 years or so as well. Previously lots of PL clubs were so debt ridden, any player who had a good season got poached by the big 4 to balance the books at the selling clubs. Now this doesn't happen as much, or the fees are incredibly high, clubs have to look at other ways to be competitive and it makes the PL much more wide open.
We do seem to be looking further afield for players now based on the nationalities and the leagues our latest recruits have come from.

It was an interesting article. I can say I have the money to afford a Ferrari but until there's one sat on my drive it doesn't mean a lot. I like Jeff but I do sometimes question his take on things. If we presented Lage with a list of 30 players and he only liked 10 of them then surely that means we need to work on a better list?!

BB from what I read he didn't actually say much of any substance tbh. The we couldn't find anyone better that Bruno wanted on our list. Doesn't tell you anything. Botman we gave up on price, that's not unreasonable. Caleta-Car wife just had a baby, I wouldn't have moved either, start of the window who knows. Kamala, he wasn't interested. Personally I think we left it late to get a bargain deal and it didn't happen. Must do better in my opinion.

I completely agree Ken to be honest. I think they are being clever with the wording here because yes I can believe that there was no one availible that would have improved the first team (fully fit we are pretty strong) but what about the squad cause that what needs work! And I also agree with your point about the lateness of the business, I didn't think it was a problem at the time cause I (foolishly) assumed it was all in hand. But like you say why do we seem to be the only club that doesn't realise that prices go up as the clock counts down?! Especially odd as we put the asking up for Adama as the deadline got closer?!
I think your closing line is spot on 'must do better' but I think what worries me is for that to happen Jeff needs to actually realise when we NEED to get something over the line. All I will say is that I seriously hope one of you guys on here (Jas:) is serving me a nice helping of humble pie come Jan! Lage already seems capable of really doing something special for us, we've already played some seriously sexy football this season.
BUT he needs backing and this season to shape what needs to become HIS team. For example can we even actually play his preferred 442 with a group of cbs that aren't natural cbs and wbs that are uncomfortable at fb, I suspect not?! I think he needs that level of flexibility in formational approach (depending on the oppo) if we are ever going to see his tactical best! Fingers crossed he kicks things off on Saturday.

Hopefully tomorrow will bring as good a performance as we have had in our first 3 games. I don't think any of us expected anything from them but easily could have won them all. Now it gets serious the honeymoon is over as it were. Hoping for a win but its not going to be easy. Shooting boots on I hope!
