Hi you guys hope everyone is keeping well and looking forward to the new season. Its been a while since I last posted but still read most of your comments daily. The reason for my post today is I was wondering if someone could explain FFP to me and in particular with regard to Aston Villa. How do they get away with spending millions if pounds every season but never seem to fall foul of FFP. Are we doing something wrong? Am I missing something?

{Ed002's Note - They sold Villa Park to avoid an FFP problem.}

Ed is right of course. They sold the family silver, the freehold. You can only do that once! You can run out of things to sell. The Chinese would never sell a freehold. (Actually Wolves do not have the freehold technically, but have a lease of 900 odd years. The freehold was bought by the council during our period of instability in the 1980s to protect our heritage. This is really a silver lining, because Fosun cannot sell the freehold even if they wanted to! ) .

Every club spends millions of pounds mate, you don’t get premier league players for under a million, we sold villa park to another company owned by our owners so technically we still own it, it was something that had to be done to put right the mess our previous CHINESE owner made a mess of, to really answer your question, Villa are just a bigger club and 1 of the longest standing clubs in top flight football, we had a wobble here and there over the years but generally come back stronger and don’t get relegated for many years again, wolves however are a bit of a yo-yo club so your owners are probably just being cautious cause they expect that ye will go back down again soon.
