London and Manchester XI or England?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jun 2021 20:37:21
It makes you think oxley, I sometimes think they're playing for their own egos rather than England, can't say they impressed much tonight. Pickford was on form tho.

29 Jun 2021 21:14:13
Last time we beat them in competition in 1966 I was 14 it was massive! I've waited a long time for it happen again. We've played better football over the years and lost. So actually I don't give a damn what anyone thinks I'm overjoyed with the result. Let's hope we go on and win the thing, be positive!

29 Jun 2021 21:48:05
Your right of course ken68 but nobby wasn't dancing because he'd just earned a massive win bonus and advertising contracts.

29 Jun 2021 22:46:58
Ken with the draw being v v favourable we certainly have an excellent chance of making the final and then - well in a one off game we all
know anything can happen and are Spain, Italy or Belgium really that amazing? Hardly Brazil 1970!

Agree Thefutureisoldgold just hope we go all the way not like the semi final loss in Russia world Cup.

Great day yesterday my boss told me our works is going to be fine after the c. v. months, over a year of worry has gone.
Lol was planning to do something in 2 week main holiday shutdown but will be working, this the best outcome and I'm very very happy.

England into the q/ f,
Wolves start pre season monday coming, the anticipation of new signings and the new season start 5 or 6 weeks away life is looking pretty damn good at present.

I'm thinking the season start after a major tournament the top teams with the majority of the players at the tournament will be a little jaded and it will be ripe for us the new look wolves to start the season on the front foot.

No one knows at present how we will perform whether OK bad good or fantastic.
I'm hoping the latter 2 good or fantastic.
FWAW.

Glad your jobs secure Phil, excellent news my friend! As for the Euro's who cares who we play! You can only play what's in front of you. Hope we go on win the thing 20 years down the line will anyone care about a favourable draw, nope! It's opened up I agree but you can only beat what's in front of you!

30 Jun 2021 08:28:50
Thanks Ken,
You are correct it doesn't matter who we play we have to win whoever is infront of us.
Italia 90 I may be biased but I always say if Bobby Robson put Bully on instead of Chris Waddle we would of beat the Germans.
Euro 96 Paul Gasgoine inches away from a tap in.
These fine margins could of gone the other way.
Last night we done it and beat the germans.
Muller should of equalised but he missed just like waddle in Italia 90.
I am correct? Mexico 70 we were beatingvthe Germans and Ramsey took off Bobby Charlton at half time and we ended up losing. if I correct another time of fine margins.
This euros is there for us let's hope England continue agaisnt Ukraine.

30 Jun 2021 10:00:32
Yep 1970 Ramsey mucked it up when he took Charlton off. I think we can forgive him now! And Long John Baldry for singing "Mexico"!

Phil strongly suspect that your job being safe is for you the best news of the lot so delighted for you.
What were you planning to do with the hols?
I'm still hoping we can do our Welsh trip this summer - wife is still working so limited to her hols - but its hard to know what will be possible even at this stage.
But at the moment i'd just take some sunshine - its been raining for days and looks v miserable today! (lucky there is so much sport to watch! )

Hi, Thefutureisoldgold,
Thankyou yes the best unexpected news I could of had yesterday.

My plans were 1 week decorate the other week go to Wales or the lake district.

When working full-time I'm too exhausted to decorate on weekends. I do my gardens and my brothers garden.
I love working and keeping active.
I do miss the walks around the country in the countryside.

I take it your planned safari with your son is on hold.
Maybe now you can save up more money as the time is greater and have an even better amazing holiday with your son.
For now this year hope you and your wife have enjoyment in Wales.

Hope everything works out for you mate.
And I got my fingers legs crossed you Ken Abbey and the rest see us wolves have some success.
COYW.

Cheers Phil, I too am really pleased everything is looking brighter for you. Its good having something positive to look forward to and boy could we have a great summer if England can go all the way and we get some exciting new players. I'm going to get to the mol as many times as I can the season, how can coming out of C.V. have a down side? Well I won't get all the matches live on tv. But won't it be great to be back in the ground. Enjoy your hols.

30 Jun 2021 11:55:30
Safari yes on hold. Sadly still not working at all at moment so not saving but spending - but hopefully as C.V. dies away I will start to pick up a bit. I am looking at a job in the tourist industry that seems really interesting and reasonably remunerative!
Like you doing loads in garden - built a new patio last week for Wife's herbs entirely out of recycled materials picked up for free from a builder doing a project in the road. Old pink concrete slabs for base - took ages chipping mortar off their backs, a few surplus grey flat cobbles for pots to stand on and a low brick wall made from old bricks to edge it. Not one penny spent! Even the black plastic weed suppressant was found lying around the garage!
Still doing a bit of walking but not so much due to miserble weather and lots of people I walked with- including my son now back at work!
Welsh economy due a boost then if we both go to Wales. Want to primarily do South Coast - not been west of Cardiff before - but if we have time and inclination would like to do some of the historical north coast sites.
What about you - walking in the Beacons or Snowdonia?

30 Jun 2021 12:06:21
Tfig you must get down to Pembrokeshire it is stunning with great coastal walks, long uncrowded beaches and beautiful coves etc. I used to go frequently its so peaceful with wildlife and nature.

30 Jun 2021 12:27:21
Abbey - tks for recommendations. I have done v v little in Wales and given how much there seems to be to do not sure why!
Too many dull beach holidays in Spain, Portugal etc with kids perhaps!

30 Jun 2021 12:52:26
Abbey - just seen an article in Sunday Telegraph - "20 reasons why Pembrokeshire is the best place for a summer holiday"
Serendipity or what!

30 Jun 2021 15:21:03
Go for it tfig, I recommend Newgale Solva area not far from ST. Davids, smallest city in UK. and great for books art and cathedral ruins (if that's your sort of thing) you can also venture on sea trips to islands and see petrified forest if tides right out. The beer (s) are good too.

30 Jun 2021 16:50:32
Brill - tks.
Taff gave me some good tips too like The Big Pit which looks v interesting as well.
Really hope we can get away this summer!

30 Jun 2021 17:21:45
I was thinking the black mountains I go on my own and can easily link up with like minded folk.
I will talk to anyone about anything along as they want to talk to me.
Fairplay Thefutureisoldgold for the work you did for your mrs in the garden.

30 Jun 2021 17:38:00
I worked around Dolgellau for 9 years, love it there. The Morffach Estuary down to Barmouth on one side Fairbourne on the other. Cader Idris behind. Lovely coast south down to Tywyn and Aberdovey. Not quite so busy as some of the other places.

30 Jun 2021 18:23:38
Phil - that is how life should be!
One of my friends, a single Indian man in his early 40s, always does the walk to Santiago de Compostela each year. He takes about a month walking from Southern France and he says you start each day on your own and end it with a bunch of friends!
I hope you have a great time - weather good and the company you find convivial!
There will be more work for sure - there is never a shortage of jobs she can hand out! {Almost wish I hadnt retired! - well almost! }.

30 Jun 2021 19:58:36
future. From experience you know once you're retired keep moving! Every time you stop moving and sit down it's a red rag to a bull! They find something else for you to do.
