Anybody think that John Egan could be a decent signing for us? He’s pretty decent in the air at set pieces.

Agree0 Disagree0

In their first year up the 3 CBs at SU got rave reviews but I think last year at least one of them (? ) was out long term which negatively impacted upon both the team's performances and thus one's views on them as individuals. However trying to look beyond the debacle of the team's season I think that at a resonable price, circa £10m (? ) he could be a solid experienced option.

Sign up Shaqiri, no-brainer! FWAW.

I agree TFIOG that there are one or two reasonably-priced potential buys from the SU defence. Preston, I was thinking about Shaqiri this morning and at his age a deal is there to be had. As an attacking midfield player with good delivery, a left-foot and a decent shot he wouldn’t be the worst addition to the squad and add experience to help the youngsters.

Looks like lage is intent on buying some very promising youngsters as well as more established ones
Beginning to get moving

Greyleg - The kid from Brazil for example sounds v promising but we do need, as you say, to balance the youngters for the future with a few more experienced heads for the now and not sure how much we have to spend.

Pointless bringing in a load of super talented kids but having to sell the guts of the current side to finance it and then the kids leave after a year as they don't want to play Championshiup football!

Getting the balance right is difficult but essential!

In terms of transfer speculation the press have pulled out the scattergun we are seemingly being linked with any number of inexperienced players. As they say in horse racing they're orf'. Heads down folks!

Didn't Jeff Shi recently say that the squad would be added to with experienced players aswell as still buying good youngsters. I know that that was the case when Nuno was still manager.

Jas getting that balance right will be tough. Presumably we have a limited budget, ( all press speculation indicates that we have modest sums available unless we sell our diamonds and that rarely works as finding better than you've got for less is obviously v v difficult) and the youngsters if they are any good won't be free so that's why I think we need to pick up a couple of cheap/ free vets - hence my comments on Bertrand etc.
Not sure how many bodies we need to add but with the number of still injured players and the gaps that existed in the squad even before the injuries it is not small just to get to a par sized squad and if we want to develop we probably need a couple more than par.
Suspect that it is therefore not a 1 window project to (re) build the squad but great to hear Shi making the right noises.

The free transfer market might be good for us to look at quite a few decent players on a free.

21 Jun 2021 11:28:31
Let's be honest here people. The press can speculate all they want but we all know that they nothing. Last week was a perfect example. How many of the media reported Yerson Mosquera was on our radar. They only reported it after it was all finalised.

21 Jun 2021 14:20:08
Hearing what Jeff shi was saying the South American Market as been on our radar for some time, both for talent and commercial exposure. The two go hand in hand so given brext and our free world access we can perhaps expect more 'unknowns' from the area, but, bringing in 2o Yr olds from Colombia to the premier elite is a risky venture and we need some home grown experienced players to balance things out. The likes of sellers must know this and already formed a list of wants. Let's hope so.

21 Jun 2021 18:05:15
True to form again Jas M, the press know very little about our transfers until Shi/ Molineux wants them to.
I'd rather it be that way tbh, as fans we all like to be in the know but Fosun are strict business people so good on them they run the club that way.

21 Jun 2021 20:01:46
I want to see a few oven-ready tbh. We can't have a bench devoid of experience this year. Should be no excuses we know what can happen!

Leo Campana played full 90 minutes for Ecuador in their latest Copa America tie. Must be worth a look in pre-season.

Are these going,
Patricio
Coady
Kilman
Saiis
Moutinho
Neves
Traore
Neto
Jimenez
Johnny
Marcal
?

21 Jun 2021 23:34:59
Patricio and Moutinho in my opinion are definitely going. Neves will go if the right offer is made, same with Traore.

I would sell/ move on:
Saiss, Kilman, Cutrone, MGW

Promote to the senior squad: Marques and Corbeanu.

Buy: Joachim Anderson, Maximilian Arnold, Dumfries and Yaremchuk.

Assess during pre season: Lonwijk, Jordao and Shabani.

Rui as good as gone according to Sky. Its just a thought but the youngsters have been coached and played to Nunos style, they may not fit ideally into Brunos ideas. Corbenau in particular, I think he has a tremendous future but is he what bruno can mould into first team? It's going to be a merry go round and it's 'the pack ' the unity I fear losing.

22 Jun 2021 09:32:02
Seems like this lage wants rid of nunos legacy, which fair play if he wants his style and system, but it might take a while, prepare for another long haul, but coyw.
