Just wondering why it is so difficult for us to comply or keep up with FFP yet Villa can go season after season spending what they pretty much want and there net spend has got to be considerably higher than ours.

With respect to Ken68 ; I'm not BITTER, being MILD-mannered, but if Senhor LAGER doesn't get in a STOUT centre-half and remedy our poor first-HALF performances then alarm BELLS will ring. I know we did DOUBLES over Arsenal and Leeds, but last season was a bit RUM and BAR those wins we were SHORT and needed a TONIC, so had to GIN and bear it! We weren't SNUG and had few CHAMPAGNE moments, so it was hard to get my head ROUND. I've had a SNIFTER, from an inCIDER that Ben FOSTERS going to be our THIRST signing, maybe some SOUTHERN COMFORT, then. Danny MURPHYS comment that we are STILL a SPECIAL BREW, GRANTS us some FIZZ and not to W (H) INE. When Coady finishes, how about CAPTAIN MORGAN Gibbs- White! Conor has been the best since Mike BAILEYS time. hope all ADVOCAATS love the GOLD LABEL. Time Gentlemen, please. LAST ORDERS . Cheers FWAW.

They can't. A club could spend 90% of income but this has recently been relaxed. Don't forget, they also sold their ground so that counts towards available money they can spend.

Thoughts on Buendia?
Has done v well in Championship but obviously with Norwich last time he struggled - no shame there the whole team did.
£33m sounds a lot but he could either work well with Grealish, taking oe of the creative load, or be his replacement?
Given we desperately need an AM is he someone you would have considered?
Good age but if he signed for Wolves would be another v frail small player.
How do you compare him to Vitor - more expensive but much more experienced?

06 Jun 2021 10:53:58
I believe that while Buendia is undoubtedly a good player, Vitor has much greater potential and I am also sure that in 18 months or so he will be a fixture in a very good Portugal team. Vitor gets my vote.

Looks like the exodus of players is coming.
Patricio, wants to leave
Neves -arsenal
Saiis-rennes
Neto- Everton
Traore- Chelsea
Moutinho - Porto
Going to be very interesting if they and possibly others go ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️.

06 Jun 2021 12:48:52
Why are we even talking about Villa?

06 Jun 2021 13:43:07
Buendea I think will be a decent buy plus Norwich rarely sell cheap anyway. Wouldn't have minded him certainly closer to the finished article than players we've bought with potential I think. We do need ready to go players at the least two.

06 Jun 2021 14:05:35
Nice one prestonwolf I enjoyed that!

06 Jun 2021 14:54:34
If we are looking to ship Neves to Arsenal I hope we play hard-ball on the fee like they were doing with AMN last season. On that subject might it be a course of action to part-ex for AMN plus a further substantial amount?

06 Jun 2021 15:22:38
If Buendia is worth 38m inc. add ons.
Nerves is worth? with 3 years in Prem. Start at 50 maybe.

06 Jun 2021 15:24:02
NES - is it a deal you would do? If so what would you want? Cash, AMN and cash or is there anyone else that you might look at taking as part of any trade?
For me AMN is a RWB - I know he plays lots of other posistions as well - and we already have Semedo who is both one of the stronger players in the side now and one that I doubt Wolves would think of selling so not sure if AMN is as valuable to us now as he was last summer and we didn't get to their valuation then!

06 Jun 2021 15:36:57
AMN at RB and Semedo at RW maybe?
I've always found Semedo is far better at attacking than defending.

06 Jun 2021 15:48:54
ps - sorry didn't say but it is not a deal i'd be keen to do - selling Neves. However if we had a quality replacement (s) lined up who are capable of playing in the Prem this year and keeping us not just safe but competitive, (this is not Vitor! ) and we could buy them for £30m ish then i'd - like Ken - think about £50m plus add ons.

If we are doing the deal with Arsenal and that player is AMN (and I don't think it is for me) it is AMN plus £35m+.

I think it might be better to deal with Man U who could give us Lingard and we might just squeeze Telles - meaning we didn't need to sign RAN (although I stress I am happy to pay £10m+ for him) - or Lingard plus say £15m?

06 Jun 2021 16:21:28
Don't want to sell players, but I always thought, wherever Nuno went, he would try and sign some of our players, we can only hope this new guy has players in mind, I'm sure told them at interview, who he wants, and who he doesnt.

06 Jun 2021 16:33:35
Wonder if anyone confirm if I have got it correct.
I believe AMN preferred position is midfield not rwb, I'm sure he played midfield for Albion when we played them, also I'm sure I read or heard he strives to play midfield.
If hypothetically there is a swap deal with neves and AMN plus cash our new manager may have AMN in a midfield role.

Wednesday 9th june the window opens.
( I saw it on wolves website)

Personally I think AMN would provide us with steel in a number of positions, he presses well and if we’re going to up the tempo and energy I would take him in a heartbeat. But no I couldn’t see us doing the deal which I would see as £30m minimum cash our way + AMN. Arsenal will walk away from that but we can’t cut the poor deal that was done with Doherty last summer.
Once again my personal view is that Semedo defensively is deficient and I would cut my losses on him (though protection from AMN would help) . I hope that Lage can develop Hoever, Sanderson or Buur to take the right-back berth and make it their own.
Dendoncker is under-performing and may need a new challenge (elsewhere) if Lage can’t relight his fires.
With the residual money from Neves and Dendoncker I can see us buying a good midfield player who can control the tempo of a game but also be more direct than Moutinho.
My hope would be for Lage to develop Vinagre into a Premier League standard full-back (RAN is too expensive) or at least get use out of him until the January transfer window when Johnny should be fit.
Other than that I would either give Mir another chance at playing for us or use his funds to buy another quick forward.
Lage also needs to look closely at Podence who tailed off badly after his injuries. Beyond that it’s imperative to utilise and develop the younger players who have been so heavily invested in through the academy and I really hope this is the season that MGW not only breaks through but becomes a contender for an England spot.

06 Jun 2021 16:50:54
Patricio wants away, fine with me for the right money only got a year left anyway. Prefer a keeper who hasn't got his boots nailed on the line at corners frankly!
Neves 50m take it buy Palhinha or the like Vitor isn't ready yet if ever.
Moutinho sell or bench not sure who you could get at reasonable cost to replace though.
Centre back we must get.
RAN at the right price he will only improve in my opinion. He got better as the season went on.
Johnston from Albion 20m would be a good buy for me.

06 Jun 2021 17:07:19
Agree with you on Patricio Ken. Also seems vulnerable at his near post. Johnston ok for me £12 to £15 mill.

06 Jun 2021 17:07:27
Patricio, Neves, Saiss, Neto, Traore, Moutinho. Isn't it funny that during the season, some fans were calling on all of these players to be moved on along with Dendoncker and Silva. Now that this seems a real possibility, these same fans are saying they need to stay and the club is making a mistake and taking us a step back. Fickle Fickle Fickle.

06 Jun 2021 17:30:30
Good luck to Vitinha in his big game tonight (v the Germans) FWAW.

06 Jun 2021 17:32:55
Keep Neto, Traore and Silva. rest can go.

06 Jun 2021 17:52:51
I'm sure Lage has a list of players he wants. But say if Patricio, Moutinho and Neves left, would you be happy with Pope, Pereria and Oxlade Chamberlain or players of that ilk replacing them.

06 Jun 2021 18:17:18
Jas
Pope would be an upgrade on Patricio, (given father time's cruel treatment), but not sure that, although each is a fine player, the other 2 make a sensible pair - both quite offensive minded. I would also be worried re Oxlade's fitness - he has missed a lot of time through injury.
Plus I am far from convinced we would get the three for the same price as we sell ours?
Patricio and Moutinho are both at the veteran stage and fees will reflect that.
Therefore doubt the Neves money will stretch.
But net net I guess if that was the deal it wouldn't be a deal I'd complain about.
It would certainly add to our athleticim and goal threat.

06 Jun 2021 19:14:29
Each to their own opinion Jas.
Evidently Bruno likes to press the opposition. Not sure Mautinho has the legs for that now. Chamberlain no tks, seems another sick note.

06 Jun 2021 21:02:10
At moment. Wouldn't mind Johnstone, ward prowse, Toney, vinicius, paulhinia, plus a cente half, ha.

06 Jun 2021 21:21:45
100% correct Jas M re the fickle comments!
The amount of times this season I've read how awful Neves was/ is and shouldn't be playing I forget.
For me Nuno played him differently, too deep.
Now there's rumours if him going - panic!

06 Jun 2021 22:01:16
Phil you ae correct he did play in Mid for WBA and I gather that is where he wants to play however it seems he may be the only one to believe that it is his position - assume that is why he went to WBA - they were willing to let him play where he wanted
Ken - it is scary how much and how often I agree with you!
NES - v good post!
Semedo started badly but at RWB I thnk he will be fine - not quite as effective as Doherty, (2019/ 20 model not the Spurs guy who was played at RB not RWB) - but fine. Shame we paid circa £20m to downgrade.
Also from what I'm being told on here Lage doesn't play WBs but FBs so maybe we should think about that before we make decsions on who we buy and who we sell ie Semedo is no longer what we want and neither will RAN be?
If Vinagre can be as good as RAN however great let's save the difference between the 2 transfer fees as it seems we don't have any money but do have massive needs!

07 Jun 2021 05:36:36
Thnks Thefutureisoldgold,
As we are ok a r/ b rwb maybe there are better midfielders out there than AMN who have always played the specialist midfield position. 💪👌.

07 Jun 2021 16:02:43
futureisoldgold. Mutual appreciation of similar views I think! Maybe we are right, its possible! Certainly I would say we are like many others on here supporters for a very long time and that despite current problems its a hell of a lot better than its been for many years and I'd take these problems over the many day. I take the current situation as a great place to start from for Lage and remain very positive for the future its the only view worth having for me. Can't do the negative stuff, accentuate the positive!

07 Jun 2021 16:35:31
Here here Ken.

07 Jun 2021 18:05:20
Ken - as I have said before this may well be the best 3 years we have had in my lifetime so on that point you are def correct!
Also as I also said before if we can get everyone fit and add one or two sensible purchases - without having to sell the family silver - we could easily get back on track but sadly I'm much better at the negative stuff and need reminding occassionally to look on the bright side of life.

07 Jun 2021 20:42:26
futureisoldgold. My friend always look on the bright side. I am one who buys a lottery ticket knowing I will win and have done from the start no point buying it otherwise! Sadly it has failed me so far but it will come right in the end! So as and and when, you and Phil can join me in my box at Molineux that's a promise! If you wish to obviously!
One day COYW and my ticket!
