Looks as though Bruno is set to be appointed but can't help but get Walter Zenga vibes about this. An unproven manager who has, on paper, good attacking prowess but will find it difficult to impose their philosophy onto the players (due to a lack of experience) and in the cut-throat business of the Premier league, there is no time or margin for error for this and you might find (similar with Zenga) that after a run of 17ish games that we are looking for a new manager. You've got to ask yourself the question, if we didn't have any ties to Jorge Mendes, would we have appointed him or gone for a more proven manager that we deem 'safer'. Either way, he has my support and I won't condemn him before the guy has even lifted the old gold shirt. Besides, Nuno was relatively unheard of and look what happened! COYW and c'mon England (and Portugal)

Very interesting thoughts however the inexperienced Zenga had already managed 450 games before he came to us whereas Nuno had 190. Also, Mendes has up until today only ever provided us 1 manager, Nuno, who I'd never heard of before.

I get that Wonky but a few subtle differences. Look at their CV, s Walter had managed quite a few clubs in minor leagues all over the world and had only lasted more than about 17 matches once, no surprise then that he only lasted around that many games at Wolves as was predictable. Bruno appears to have completed an apprenticeship so to speak and risen through the ranks to manage a Champions league regular team in a league that may be below the premier league in terms if its Uefa co-efficient but is the base league of the defending European Champions. Yes it would be desirable if he had more than one season under his belt but many managers have an early blip on their CV. An example being a young Bobby Robson who was fired by Fulham in the late 60's and subsequently appointed Ipswich manager after Wolves prized Bill McGarry out of Portman Road, which club got the best deal out of that arrangement!

Wonky, you could totally re-write what you've said above, and substitute Nuno for Bruno. I had to google Nuno as I had never heard of him! Nuno had about 3 clubs in 4 years, and had the Walter Zenga vibes about him too.

What league did Nuno win before he came here?

There is not a lot can be said by me other than I wait for the summer transfer window to get going for us then I will have a lot more judgement on how we fair next season

Thought Coady was a steady eddie last night for England, but I fear England will crash out in the quarter finals, on last nights display playing the top sides we would of lost easily.
All my opinion I add.
It was only a friendly so I may think different when the tournament starts, I'm keeping an open mind for Englands prospects.
I have faith in wolves and a significant amount less for England in the euros.

Coady reminds me of emlyn Hughes with his enthusiasm and energy, as for Bruno I really don't know enough about him.
Although to be fair he is inherenting a much better squad than zenga or Nuno for that matter so hopefully we can move on up.

History is history the futures in the making. Whoever becomes manager we've got to look ahead. I agree with Phil the summer transfers will spell out our direction so I'll hold thoughts until then, but whoever is appointed will get my support to start with. Coady was perhaps slightly off the speed last night but again it was only friendly and no one is going to be gung ho yet. a lot depends on the mancs ankle as to conners appearances methinks.

Walter Zenga was a last-minute replacement for Lopetegui. They have been looking at Lage for more than two years in case Nuno left for Arsenal.
Big difference.
