Silva is coming really good now, also notice when MGW missed that open goal Fabio put his arm around him and had a word too.
That is captain material imo.

Yeah I thought they seemed tight, which is good to see. Also thought it was quite telling in Gibbs interview that he gushed over how well Nuno understands him. I know many have wanted Nuno to take a harder line with Gibbs (and I usually agree) but hearing Gibbs name check him after his first goal shows how good Nuno is with the youngsters. I think they trust him not to pubically shame them on missed chances (a la Jose) and that kind of trust is priceless when your trying to develop young talent! 👍.

I didn't really get that impression bullysboy, I thought it sounded as if spoken through gritted teeth politely for the cameras. perhaps I saw a different interview though.

Whilst glad to see mgw score, he is never going to be at the same level as foden, his teammate from the u17 world cup winners team.
To me he looks at best a championship player.

Am I right in saying that’s our first premier league goal in premiership from a home grown player with MGW.

10 May 2021 07:59:43
Yes I believe MGW is our first home grown scorer in the PL.

I do have to say I am a fan of how he to run forwards with the ball and push the team up the pitch and get himself in positions in the box. His end product has always been a bit lacking but hopefully yesterdays goal will help him push on if he's given more minutes before the end of the season.

I was impressed with a lot of the younger players yesterday. It could be interesting if Vitinha signs permanently what relationship he could build with Silva going forward in terms of goals and assists given how young they still both are.

I'm still not sure I fully understand these short corners as we never look like scoring from one. I can understand moving the back line when we lack in height, but our crosses on the whole are poor even in open play. If we could both attack and defend set pieces better it would probably yield an extra 10 points.

I don't understand the short corners either. It takes two players out of contention to work the corner. Why? I'm told it is to draw the defenders forward and we sneak in behind them, but that NEVER happens. Sounds like the definition of madness to keep trying something that never works. That said, what did work yesterday, worked very well. A great win.

MGW clearly knows how to be a good player I just don't know why he can't deliver more is it confidence?

10 May 2021 11:20:50
I think that the one thing that will hold both MGW and Fabio (maybe to a lesser extent) back from being really top players, is a lack of pace. MGW likes to surge forward and he can't get away from defenders over a foot race. If it's footwork at close quarters then fine and he proved yesterday, but over a sprint he never wins the race.

Really Abbey, not sure what you are basing that on?! I mean it seemed genuine to me and I'm not sure why it shouldn't be considering Nuno has been very patient with him. Add to that I'm not sure Gibbs has the subtlety to even do that?!
Big be fair fella, Foden is a generational talent! If all young players that aren't at his level are just written off then we might as well shut the youth teams down now!

10 May 2021 17:00:41
bullysboy I just thought that there was a hesitation before he said something like we've got an understanding and I'm there if he wants me. It just seemed abit begrudging to me.

10 May 2021 17:24:43
Abbey-fair enough fella, I felt he seemed genuine but I can't find it to watch again. One thing I do remember is him smiling and saying 'Nuno understands me' which I took on face value 👍.

10 May 2021 17:34:03
Also I think MGW needs to watch himself he could have given away a penalty with his pushing in the box

I agree about pace he is no Jota, Adama or even Doc but that really was a great finish over the defenders outstretched leg.

Let him enjoy a precious moment, he’s Wolves through and through must be so proud at least he stopped Burn getting a free header god for idc he reads this s****
Morgan the pack are proud our first home grown prem scorer
Kick on take the positives come back stronger and prove the doubters wrong.

10 May 2021 19:33:49
Firstly why Gibbs is marking Burn for set pieces seems beyond foolish for me?! But give the lad credit he stood his ground with a player twice his size! If just one of our actual defenders had shown half the determination he did then Dunk wouldn't have owned us on corners till he got himself sent off! 🐺.
