Nuno played a weak team in the FAC against Southampton so that we could prioritise the Premier League and finish as high up as possible and get more prize money. We can't now hope for a Southampton win for them to go above us.

Great, so now neto season over, neves got positive cv, otto marcel out too. Hope boly cleared to return because with the games coming up we need 6 points to makes safety certain. And the teams going to be twisted around again.

The back room staff need to be held accountable for all these injuries, or at least partly accountable. Also how has Neves tested positive I thought they were all in a bubble? Can't believe that lot down the road are going to get out of this? Just hope we don't have to play them at the end of season to stay up.

I agree Abbey-but don't see us getting any more than 4 points out the next four games=that should be enough, but if we don't we are in massive trouble . The last three games won't yield any thing. Neto out has unfortunately deprived us of any spending power in the transfer market as we now cannot sell him.

Why do the back room staff need to be held accountable? Could they have prevented the Jimenez or Neto injuries which occurred mid match after a collusion with an opposition player? How are they responsible for Marcal's injury when he's suffered little niggles throughout his entire career. And how could they have prevented Boly and Neves contracting the C.V.?

SQ for the past three seasons Wolves backroom staff was hailed by the media and pundits as almost being miracle workers due to lack of injuries.

Terrible news but let's try and look positive from a bad situation.
1 Neto will most likely still be our player next season.
2 nuno most likely will play 2 up front going back to a back 5 making us stronger and harder to break down.
3 Neves hasn't been poor but hasn't been brilliant so a rest will not be missed as much as if he has been playing on top form.
The season is not over we will cope and manage.

A bitter bitter blow of bad luck but we have to put it behind us and just get on with it.

I said partly accountable-some of these injuries have occurred on the training ground-if the backroom staff were so good for three seasons-which they were-what has gone wrong this season. We could look at recruitment, was Marcal injury prone before we bought him?

So many games being played so quickly. That's probably the main reason as players are having less time to recover.

Jas, that then reflects on the size of our squad: players having less time to recover. Also, seems Jonny may not have been fully fit hence another break-down. How did we play Euro, F. A. cup and league games with a small squad--lot more than this season--& mostly stay "injury-free", something isn't right.

{Ed077's Note - "that then reflects on the size of our squad: players having less time to recover." Not exclusively. You still have to play the same number of games regardless of the number of player in the squad. Most of the better players in the team will invariably playing majority of the games anyways when available. Also dont forget, not only is the domestic/club calendar congested but also the international calendar too. National teams play 1 extra game during the international break than they used to before which again reduces the recovery time for player after each game and also the amount of time to work in training.]

Ed, it stands to reason, if you have a squad of say, 12, they are going to be used more in all games, where if you have 25, you can rest players.

{Ed077's Note - It helps to have options to rotate but the better players end up playing a lot of the games and most of the minutes when available.

For example: Man Utd have a "big" squad but Rashford and Bruno almost always end up playing the games despite the likes of Pogba, Mata, etc being available/on the bench.}

Have any of you seen Everton's injury list? it is almost a starting eleven.

13 Apr 2021 12:24:11
I'm sure this question must have already been asked, but anyway. Why is it that in a season where we played for 12 months solid we had hardly any injuries and yet this season they're falling like flies?

13 Apr 2021 15:26:23
SQ, where do you get all of your positive energy from?

13 Apr 2021 15:40:24
Is the match still on Saturday?
If so has the kick off new time been arranged due to Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh funeral taking place at 3pm saturday?

Respect to Prince Philip and thoughts are with our Queen.

Still on Saturday kick off is now 08:15pm.

Cheers Jas.
