Painful watching Diogo banging in goals game after game, we’re destined to be reminded every week we’ve settled fo mid - table mediocrity and if we stumble on a class player or two they’ll just be passing through.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he wanted to go he wanted to go we move on.

Why do you continue to blame Wolves and Fosun for Jota leaving? We've made a £30m profit on a player who let's remember, wanted to leave. Liverpool basically trebled his wages overnight. Anyone in his position would want to take a higher wage. I know I would.

Yes Ron, Its painful, possible Reason's why

The arrival of Neto, Podence, and putting Jota on the bench, it was obvious he was upset it certainly had an impact on him.
Probably was not happy with Nuno's style of play.
Money maybe?, Mendez had a lot to do with it, money, money

What went on between Nuno and Jota we will never know.
we should have done more to keep him, we are supposed to be a club with ambition you do not sell your star player, we still have not received full payment plus he was worth much more.
There needs to be drastic changes at wolves or risk another relegation season. Europe is a long way away now.

Every time I see Jota its painful he went, the same could happen to Neto, don't trust Mendez.

I do wonder sadly If its time for Nuno to go, if he cannot change our style of play.

Anyone in Wolves position would have found a replacement before selling a player under contract, done a deal that was in the Clubs interest as the timing was all wrong and set a realistic transfer fee, you can’t buy a proven International goalscorer for 40 Million, defenders are valued at twice that. Seems we’re only allowed to sign players who the ‘Big Clubs” are monitoring, with the promise they can leave when a pre - arranged figure is offered, which is all well and good if you sign the same standard players ( or better) but baring in mind Costa, Cav, Jota, Doc and Bennett, have all left and the team hasn’t improved it’s fair to say the transfer policy at the moment isn’t quite working. If results over Easter are not in our favour a defeat at Fulham could easily see the gap between us down to 3 points and looking at our last three games of the season, we can only hope we’re safe by then.

Oxley, we did find a replacement prior to Jota leaving or do you not know about Neto and Podence?

04 Apr 2021 11:35:48
We are the new Southampton. Liverpools feeder club. We might win a cup but we will never win the league.

{Ed077's Note - wait till you sell more than 1 good player to them before officially announcing yourselves as their "new Southampton." If Klopp signs his favourite Adama Traore then all good from the Jota deal would be undone lol.}

Like most players nowadays they're in it for either the money or to win major honours, and there is nothing wrong with that. Jota was given the chance to join a club on more money who in the last two seasons had won the title and the champions league meaning if he moved he would be more likely to win a major trophy than staying at Wolves as we're not yet in a position to realistically challenge clubs who have been challenging at the top the league for many years. As a model we need to take inspiration from a club like Leicester as we're not in the same financial position as Liverpool, City and Utd.

Jota wanted to go and Wolves made a decent profit on him which is better than keeping a player unhappy and denying him the chance of major honours after he'd helped the club progress more in 3 seasons than we could have expected. It was a good move for all parties.

This season hasn't been fantastic and there are many reasons for that, but I don't get the criticism aimed at the board and Nuno. Yes they have made mistakes, but look at the board at Albion or Birmingham city, or even other clubs in the premier league - ours have done us proud in comparison. Wolves never made 3 seasons in the premier league, or a European quarter final even when the great Sir Jack owned the club and it's been a long long time since Wolves have been a top 4 club in English football. We should be patient and appreciate the progress so far, then get behind the team next season when fans can once again be the 12th man.

They'll be at least 3 in the next 12 months.

04 Apr 2021 13:18:30
Leicester are keeping players and doing well. they're not a big club imo.

04 Apr 2021 13:20:28
Ragingbull, name them.

Leicester kept Vardy which was partially down to him wanting to stay there. But they did sell Kante and Mahrez (also Drinkwater but his career nosedived after leaving them), and more recently Maguire. What they have done well though is signed players like Tielemans, Maddison, Albrighton, Söyüncü and got the best out of them. They also developed Harvey Barnes from their academy.

04 Apr 2021 14:38:29
Traore, Neto and Coady.

04 Apr 2021 15:45:13
Don't think so. As Ed0001 constantly says, Liverpool do not have an abundance of money and need to move on a fair few of their players to generate funds. Anyway, if those 3 did go, we'd have £25m for Coady (min), £40m for Traore and £60m for Neto. Basically £100m profit, which will be used to buy replacements.

04 Apr 2021 17:28:12
You make it sound so easy to replace players it’s not, suggestions please, we have gone backwards this season and we are not safe yet. Liverpool are not the only club hovering and Neto will be the main target.

04 Apr 2021 17:45:37
Last summer the rumour mill suggested that Neves, Jimenez and Traore were as good as gone but guess what? Fosun came out and said that we are not a club who need to sell and so our 3 prized assets remained at the club. Just because the papers are writing that Neto is going, doesn't make it true. Recent history has taught us that.

04 Apr 2021 17:53:26
The thing is Norfolkwolf, I keep saying that selling players us easy and getting replacements difficult. There are the same posters on here who just slate the club no matter what we do.

04 Apr 2021 17:56:51
But if Neto, Coady and Traore do leave like Oxley suggests, then Trincao, Dwight McNeil and Joachim Anderson.

04 Apr 2021 18:00:01
Don’t believe zilch from the press I mean No disrespect but Ollie, I wouldn’t be concerned in the slightest if Traoré goes he’s obviously not happy and hasn’t performed well at all this season, 94 games 5 goals . . Jota 111 games 33 goals says it all really.
