Theo Corbeanu was delighted to mark his international debut for Canada with a goal -surely this guy must be given a chance? bearing in mind our two forwards are not scoring. Corbeanu has got a bit of creative flair about him.

Yes would be great if he gets his chance.
You don't get many kids come through at premier league clubs.
I can only think of foden at man city and they have had 10 years or more since their wealthy owners took over and made them one of the best in England.
Sure there are others at the top clubs just using man city as an example.
The future at wolves is promising if we get to the top we will want to remain there so for me I'm enjoying the journey on the way to the top for now.

Phil789,
I disagree with your view that you don’t many kids come through the youth system at premier league clubs. The following players have developed at premier league clubs and gone on to be internationals (England) in recent years:-

Grealish at Villa
Mount at Chelsea
Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool
Saka at Arsenal
Rashford, Greenwood at United
Rice at West Ham
Ward-Prowse at Southampton
Kane at Spurs
Chilwell and Maguire at Leicester

The above have all come through their respective clubs’ youth systems and played for England, not to mention the likes of McTominay (Scotland) .

I think we are fortunate in having many first team players featuring in international squads but are yet to see a ‘homegrown’ player appear in an International squad capable of reaching a World Cup / Euros finals.

Hopefully, that will change in the next few years. No doubt if Portugal win another major honour, there will be an old gold thread running through the team. Wouldn’t it be magic if that was the same with the England squad!

{Ed001's Note - Maguire never came through Leicester's youth system, they bought him from Hull.}

Ed001, apologies you are correct about Maguire.

However, when you add in Phillips (Leeds), James (Chelsea) and Linguard (Man U, on loan at West Ham), around half the current England squad made their International debut whilst still playing for their academy club.

The point I was making that producing International (leading nations) players is a key indicator of a club’s strength. The closest we have come is Gibbs-White (Coady was a product of Liverpools academy) . Hopefully this will change in the future.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't disagreeing with you mate, just my pedantic streak makes me point these things out.}

I see and admit my thinking was wrong.
Good post Nsutilusian.
😉.

Well if we are being pedantic then Maguire came through the Sheff Utd youth system. I'm surprised Wolves fans don't remember cause when he went to Hull we also triggered his release fee. But he choose Hull who were in the league below in the
Champ (at the time)! The fact that they were offering him better wages despite being in a lower league pretty much sums up the Morgan/ Moxey era! Our recruitment team must have been SO frustrated, they kept finding decent players (Wilson from Cov springs to mind) but the club just didn't want to commit on wages! 😭.

Sorry to do this to you BullysBoy, but Hull were in the Premier League when Maguire joined them in 2014 and finished 18th whilst we finished 7th in the Championship.
