I see Nuno is out saying that Semedo has stepped up and he's right to do so cause the lad probs needs a lift. However for me I'm not sure it's about him 'stepping up' more about a wing back FINALLY being asked to play wing back! It's the same with Jose, those of us debating his impact can't really do it, because he came in as we switched back to 5-3-2.

So what part in the change of results do Nelson or Jose play, well probs a little. BUt for me the switch in formations is the reason for the change in form. Moving forward if we want to get anywhere with transfers we HAVE to bring them in to suit the formation we Want them to play in. Sounds simple eh 🙈.

While Semedo has improved going forward he is still found wanting defensively and does get caught ball watching. Jose needs a goal or two before the end of the season if we are to make the move permenant, he does have something about him and could do with better service .

Bully - completely agree.
As you said on another thread Doherty outside of the system is not half the player he is in the system.
In other words the system is really important and we had one that worked extremely well.
That is what makes the decision to change the system (and then to rub salt in the wound buy players unsuited for that new system) insane!
Apparently it was because we lost to Seville and had to change to progress.
Well progress didn't look good did it!
Just as Devil's advocate what would have happened if Jimenez had scored the penalty.
Seville then couldn't have sat back and waited for the inevitable chance.
After 70 mins at 1 down they would have had to stop playing possession football and actually tried to break us down, pushing players forward and making riskier passes.
Guess what, we might well have been delighted with this as the minutes ticked by they would have been forced to commit suicide and left us chances to score a second or even a third!
Would we then have beaten United and then won the trophy?
Well Seville did?
Nuno quite correctly recognised the squad was too small, unbalanced and needed upgrading.
If we had been playing Champions league football, {the winner of Europa get a champs league place} this season would we have done so?
As we weren't we decided to do nothing about the squad and instead throw the baby out with the bath water by changing the system that had worked so well for something we were totally unprepared to play.
A relegation scare later we have reverted to rationality and hopefully have merely wasted a year.
However I fear that not only is this year wasted but we have made it much harder to get top quality players to join next summer. For Wolves it is hard when you are coming not off of a successful season but after one in which you flirted with relegation?
We have a huge summer ahead of us please let's not make stupid mistakes again!

Agree guys. As your all aware this season has produced some strange results, for every team, and at one point we went thru a dodgy spell, well let's blame it on C.V.,
So for me this season has been one to get thru, unscathed, ( unfortunately Jimenez) and rebuild for new season, new goals, maybe some new additions, let's play for the pride/ passion/ performance for us fans to banter over
AWFW.
