I maybe totally wrong, re Fabio silva he has really not had many clear cut goal scoring chances,
do any of you think Neto, and certainly Podence are a selfish with the ball not giving Fabio silva any clear chances.
I know he is young and a bit lightweight but few goals will do him a world of good.
Also a suppose Cultrone would be the cheap option at present, don't know how bad he is.

I thought it was only me who has been seeing this, Neto and Podence are great players, they sometimes try to do to much. When a pass has been on to Silva 9 times out of 10 they have ignored him and gone to try and beat everyone and we either lose the ball or it goes for a goal kick.
Not having a go I just want us to get through this bad period.

Not just me then manpower, they need to use Fabio more give him a chance.

I actually agree yellowstone. I put a post on here yesterday, I watched him really closely against Brighton. He makes some really good runs but there seems to be a real reluctance to find him early before he's marked.

His movement is excellent we've just got to be brave and hit him early. I believe he has 4 or 5 goals in him for the rest of the season. I think he scores Otasowie's chance it was easier than his against Spurs.

I agree with all above, I was getting the impression that he was being 'protected ' and just being used as decoy. I don't think its selfishness.

I think sometimes players get used to how a player plays and naturally find them with passes, I suppose he's had limited game time and it will take a game or 2 for the players to gel a bit better. Silva has what it takes and will be big player in time, but he has been thrown in to fill in a big void left by Raul, and at a time when it's ongoing as good as it can on the pitch, its abig thing for young lad to take on, and he's handled himself well.

If you remember dendonker he didn't play for the first half of his first season with us. Nuno bedded him in, silva semedo haven't had that luxury, just a thought.

Yet Marcel at 31 has taken to the Prem like a duck to water also Hoever looked really comfortable against Man Utd. Silva needs time but is playing him at the moment doing him any good as he does looked lost at times. When a new striker arrives he’ll be back on the bench and will have to develop more before challenging for a place in the team, in the near future hopefully!

Taff52, with respect No good having another striker if Neto and Podense will not plat with him, as I have said above Fabio is having to find his own chances which is even more difficult for the young man.

Yellowstone et al - you are certainly correct that he hasn't had many touches of the ball in the games he has played. Sky count the touches of each player and whilst I can't be certain I think he has been last in every game he played.
If this is because he is being ignored or is not in good positions etc is a matter of debate between him and Podence etc.
We know he is a slow runner, is feeble and has difficulties in linking play but ironically I agree with Matt and think one of the v v v few positives has been his ability to pop for goal scoring opportunities.
Sadly not only is his touch poor but he is not a natural finisher. Against Spurs he had 4 good chances alone - so far he has prob had what 10?
The one where unmarked in front of goal 6 yards out and he kicked the goalie and not the ball was embarrassing indeed he missed the target from 12 yards when put through by Traore and from 6 when found by Semedo so isn't even working the keeper.
However you have to be there to miss them. This skill can't be taught - for the older guys Gerd Muller wasn't bad.
He is young and is out of his depth so once we have signed an adult to play CF he should go out on loan somewhere where he can gain confidence and experience. Probably that will have to be over seas as the lower leagues in England - his level - are too physical for him.
Perhaps in 2 years time he will will be worth £35m - shame we didn't structure his fee accordingly
Pay an option fee now and then pay for results so that both teams are fairly rewarded as it is we have paid for the finished product and are taking all the risk which with Jimenez's injury is biting us badly.

I completely agree Yellow, for me he's had two good chances one was a mid-timed header and the other hit the inside of the post off the back of a technically sound first timw strike! The rest have been half chances which admittedly be could have done more with. But tbe lad needs time, I'm pretty certain he was never intended to be used this early! Think how long Nuno took to bed Podence in and this kids a fair bit younger!
