As much as I like Jimenez I feel he is trying to do too much at times, yes there is lack of service, but do you think he is believing his own hype? I'm not moaning I want to know what peoples thoughts are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Man O War - its a v good q.
The service too him is v poor but in fact always has been - only Traore and Doherty supported/ supplied him consistently previously {Jota was fabulous when he was on form but anonymous or worse for the long periods when he wasn't} so perhaps he just over achieved previously?
On a positive note whilst he is dropping ever deeper he is still working v hard but taking on 3 or 4 defs on your own game after game must grind you down and perhaps he isn't as sharp as he was.
Tactically we are now trying to play smarter stuff - using Podence to link with little one twos around the box to open up space rather than just relying on crosses and fast breaks (now rarely available as teams are wary of giving us that opportunity and sit deeper) but that is hard particularly as none of our mids join in much and the one that does Dendonker has the worst touch/ vision of the 3 - Neves, Moutinho and Dendonker.
Maybe as we have become recognised as a decent side teams, as I said above, are paying us more respect and defending deeper and playing with greater intensity and we haven't adjusted to this greater challenge yet.
We certainly need more from the WBs - Semedo is looking much better and I am hopeful he will start to make a difference however the LWB issue is still an issue for us.
In conclusion I remain very positive re Jimenez and feel certain that as the season goes on he will regain his sparkle as will the rest of the side but given the tough fixtures we now face it may not be till the new year and all thoughts of another great season of progress may be long gone by then.
This seemingly was the plan though develop for the medium term - buy young players with high ceilings, adapt to a more sophisticated playing style etc - whilst accepting short term bumps.

Can't disagree with either posts man o war and trifold. The answer in opinion is indeed a decent attacking midfielder. Dendonkey as covered a lot of ground but as you say his vision and final touches have been woeful. Our passing was superb against palace but we had space that Leicester never gave us, and a case of waiting for the ball not collecting it. Jimininez when he does get the opportunity seems abit too eager to score again and lashes. I'm sure nuno will be working on this and the international break might be just what we need. Said it before season started that we'd see crazy results due to no crowds and it seems I was right. No need to get too concerned at the moment, there's plenty of twists to come. Chins up and 3 points against the saints and it'll all be levelling up again. COYW.

I like both of your posts and I agree on both, I think we will get our mojo back it doesn't help having 2-3 weeks of a pre season. I remain positive still early days.

Good posts above. The league will really test our young side this year, but hopefully it will build for the future, we must be patient and believe. I could fancy a cup run though.

Don't start with the cDendonkey bs again thought that was over now a certain poster has gone, Dendonker is so underappreciated by some do you even watch games?
He breaks up play well and gets forward too.
Jiminez is greedy imo on Sunday if he had passed to Podence on one attack chances are it'd be 1-1 but he tried to be greedy instead, Podence was clear for a one on one all Jimenez had to do was pass it to his left. But i'm not going to call him a donkey for it, stuff happens I believe in getting behind our players why they wear the shirt not calling them silly playground names.

The strike partnership was Jota and Jimenez, Jota’s form only dipped after he’d been “tapped up” by Liverpool and is now their best attacking player (he’ll score more goals than Wolves this season) not coincidence we’re struggling this season, Jota was “the team”, top Clubs in the Prem have always tried to weaken teams who look like they could be a threat, they’ve done a good job on us, best ask Raul who he’d like playing up front with him and buy him in January, maybe one of Liverpool’s old front three would fit the bill.

{Ed001's Note - Liverpool never tapped up Jota, Klopp had to be persuaded to go for him by Lijnders and the move was pretty much made straight away. His form dipping or otherwise was nothing to do with any other team.}

Rated I assume you are alluding to the "hopefully" typo by Abby rather than the statement that his touch and vision weren't as good as Moutinhos?
I am a big fan of Dendonker's {indeed like you I support whoever wears the short and am surprised and a little disappointed that so many don't - the negativity re Traore last year was ridiculous} recognising what he gives the team, which as you say is breaking up play and yet still getting up to support the attack. He has a fabulous engine but to say his touch/ vision is as good as one of the best midfield players to play at Wolves in the last 60 years is not really outrageous is it?

10 Nov 2020 14:42:27
Yes thefutureisoldgold mate it was in response to Abbys hopefully typo.
I agree with you about Dendonkers touch and vision part completely, i've said it before on here we need a quality box to box midfielder.
Sadly I don't think Mouthino has the legs anymore to go the full 90 minutes so I feel the club does need to bring someone in, or as I keep saying go 4231 with back 4 of Marcial, coady, boly and semedo, dm Dendonker Saiss, cm Neto, Neves, Podence/ Traore, st Raul.
But Nuno is the manager not me and he knows a hell of a lot more than me lol.

10 Nov 2020 16:04:43
Rated - Appreciate your clarifying response.
Re Your formation, it basically pushes up one of the back three into the mid and allows us to both play two wide forwards and a number 10 - in the 3 in your 4,2,3,1.
I have previously stated that I agree with you and would like to see us playing a central AM i. e. a number 10 type player but I just don't see Nuno giving up the 3 cb 2dm 2wb option.
Perhaps 3,4,1,2 might be acceptable?
Boly, Coady, Kilman ( I have him in my fantasy team so he must play! ) Semedo, Dendonker, Neves, Marcal ( perhaps RAN against weaker teams but Marcal needed against the better sides when we might have to defend a bit! ) Podence, Jimenez, Traore.
Interesting that other than my FF driven desire to play Kilman over Saiss we pretty much all agree on the members of the team (maybe AT isn't everyone's cup of tea), just the formation.
Either our squad is too small or Nuno is doing a great job of picking the correct players!

10 Nov 2020 17:50:24
I agree with pretty much all the points being made above. I thought the block by Kilman on the shot from Barnes late in the game saved a certain goal, worth a place for that alone! Donk gets the ball back, you can't play without it! Marcal should have played from the start, Rayan is still trying to find his feet and needs time. As I've said before it was a reasonably easy start against Palace, he looked a bit out of his depth on Sunday. Anyway I guess the boss man will sort it out he usually does! Bring on Southampton. COYW.

10 Nov 2020 19:29:44
The Dendonkey stuff is beyond pathetic but more than that it shows a REAL ignorance in the technical side of the game! Against Palace he hit a volley from outside the box onto the corner piece! Anyone that thinks the lad isn't technically gifted I implore you to just watch that effort back in slowmo, look at the way he adjusts his standing position for a clean strike on the volley no less! If you still think he's a donkey after that well to be honest then all your really showing is that you know VERY little about the technicalities of the game! Not to mention proving that you've clearly NEVER played at any level yourself! 🐺.

I do think that some aren't seeing the woods for the trees with Jota. His formed dipped and then he moved to a big club, is it not possible his mind was already thinking beyond Wolves?! I've said it before but we've been signing Champs League players for a few seasons with none of us asking 'what's in it for them'? I strongly suspect moves have been sold to players on the premise of show casing talent to bigger clubs. And why not, we get the player and benefit from their talents and then we benefit from the profits. We might not like it but until we are regularly in Europe/ Champs League then we will continue to run on this model. Jota left because Jota wanted to leave and unhappy players generally drop in value simple as that I'm afraid 🐺.

Bloody hell I will clarify dendonker was indeed my predictive text typing for me. I said he covered a lot of ground ie breaking play etc, but his touch and vision could be better, its an area to work on and I was sure nuno would work on it. Re jiminez I said he seemed too eager to score and was lashing it. Which from reading the above seems to be abit of a consensus. We all watch games we all form opinions i'm sure a lot of us have played at various levels and had to play under orders against our own desire, one things for sure whoever puts the old gold on gets my support but it doesn't stop any critique of a performance.

10 Nov 2020 20:43:58
My post wasn't especially aimed at you Abby, as the others said I assumed it was a typo (from your previous stuff:) . But more at peeps that I have debated the point of Leander on here (many times) . I get that utility players never get their dues but I do get frustrated at the suggestion that he's technically poor or just lucky to play nationally in one of the most technically gifted midfield! As ever nothing on here's meant personally. Just an observation that anyone that thinks spanking a ball like that (from outside the box, on the volley) can be done on a fluke then clearly hasn't spent a lifetime of Sunday mornings trying (and failing in my case:) to do it! 👍🐺.

No prob bullseye, good news fabio as hit 2 against Doncaster (so far) tonight.

10 Nov 2020 21:10:01
Dendonker is a regular in the very very good Belgian national side and a regular in a top half prem league side - Wolves - so Bully I would sincerely hope that no one would disagree with you when you say that he is an extremely good footballer with high technical abilities as well as superb physical attributes - i. e. he gives the impression he can run all day! .
However my comment was meant to illustrate that I'd rather have Moutinho than Dendonker playing tight little one twos with Podence due, despite Dendonker's undeniable talent, to his surely undoubted superior touch and vision.
Apologies therefore, (to Abby, Rated and Bully) if I have caused a furore it was not my intention to do so.
I was merely answering Man O Wars q re Jimenez with a comment about how we don't rely on the crosses, [often from Traore} Jimenez fed off so heartily last year as much this year due to the advancement of Podence and his slightly more subtle style.
PS I was/ am a rubbish footballer and have never played at any level at all.
I claim that is because my senior school only played Rugby but maybe I was just rubbish!
I did though go onto play both University firsts and club rugby at a level that today would be semi pro - it was all amateur in my days!

Many a Sunday morning attempting that and ending up on my backside Bullysboy mate lol.
