I'm looking forward to the Villa match. It would be typical Wolves if we beat them. Hopefully, Cunha will be back and I reckon he'll score a couple in a 2-1 victory.

27 Mar 2024 09:23:06
Yes. I feel optimistic about Vile away. Cuhna back, Dawson, Bellegarde (not that he's been in great form), but at least we can field players in positions where they're comfortable and effective. Having Cuhna back ( some who can go past players and push the opposition back) will be a massive boost. 1-2 also a Wolves win. Cuhna and Doyle (who comes on as sub to score the winner.

27 Mar 2024 09:24:06
I think with both teams having restricted preparation on the training ground from the international break having key players away will have an impact on the match.
Who will fair better from thi hopefully its us.

The comment from a Villa fan on another site is that wolves always treat the derby as if it was a cup final!Blimey they don’t half big themselves up. Boring.

27 Mar 2024 13:54:23
Maybe they're worried fromewolf?, Trying to big it up. I reckon the pressures on them and we'll be able to build it up. I'm going 2-1 as well. COYW

27 Mar 2024 16:08:03
Fromewolf. Just another game for me. Yes it's a Derby but nothing more for me than either Forest or Leicester if they come back up. It might be a cup final for them. Obviously want to win, but I want us to win every game know matter who we play.

Does anyone remember the time an aging John Aldridge (I believe playing for Tranmere), outpaced Wolves defender Kevin Ashley from the half way line whilst attacking the South Bank in the nineties?
He literally left Ashley standing and literally silenced the crowd. Ashley was never the same player after that moment as it shattered his confidence. Memorable for all the wrong reasons.

27 Mar 2024 07:02:45
I can't remember that specific match mate my memory is rubbish.
But I do remember Kevin Ashley doubting myself but £500, 000 we paid for him from Birmingham of which was a lot of money back then.

26 Mar 2024 17:06:39
Officials for the Villa match, isn't Tierney a Villa fan?
Referee: Paul Tierney.
Assistants: Scott Ledger, Steve Meredith.
: Matt Donohue.
VAR: Peter Bankes.
Assistant VAR: Nick Greenhalgh.

26 Mar 2024 17:22:01
Edit no he's a Wigan fan.

26 Mar 2024 16:54:59
Is Declan Rice the most overrated player of recent time, if not all time, or is it just me not understanding the modern game?

26 Mar 2024 17:34:59
Personally I think David Beckham was the most over rated England player of all time.

I also think Lionel Messi is not the greatest player of all time as most people think. Maradona was better.

26 Mar 2024 17:51:49
Never be rated him tbh

26 Mar 2024 18:28:32
I’d much prefer Jared Bowen in my team any day of the week. I thought that back when they were at West Ham together. Rice is good, very good, but I just think Bowen adds a little extra.

23 Mar 2024 19:53:58
Watching England, which I rarely do As I am getting on and time is valuable. Can someone please advise me as to why Maguire is in this team?

23 Mar 2024 21:10:04
Southgate’s love child maybe

23 Mar 2024 21:41:33
He must have some dirt on Southgate. Why else would he continually be picked.

On another note, we'll done to Joao Gomes on his debut. Looked good in the middle of the park. The 1st of hopefully many more caps.

23 Mar 2024 21:57:02
Southgate's favourite. Apparently he plays well with Stones. Thought he was poor again tonight and a poor back pass nearly cost us. Bin him.

23 Mar 2024 22:59:58
Jas, according to the match report on BBC, Joao was voted Man of the Match

24 Mar 2024 06:34:49
Watched some of the game last night, but like most fans, not enthused. I feel we are missing an opportunity. We have a choice of players with the ability to win the Euros comfortably.
Sadly we don't have a manager to make the most of the great talent available.
Not using a friendly to try others at CB and yet again pick a guy who doesn't even player regular team football, is a really poor lack of judgment.
Also THE RB is past his sell-by date, why not try a youngsters in Shaw's absence?
Brasil had lost their last 3 matches, so not a great threat, but they looked more like a team and a 17 year old scored one and missed a second big chance!
I was following on live text and when the manager made changes, the comment was, so no change to tactics, like for like subs.
Sums him up, so conservative with his approach. He is out of date with his strategies and would not get a job with most Premiership Clubs.
On the positive side, thought Gordon did well.
Great to see our second-best Brazilian get ratings better than most of the England players!

24 Mar 2024 08:59:51
Since euro 96 I've lost interest England.
Nice tribute for Terry venables.

Superb by Liverpool Ed001 to give sven g.erickson his life long dream to manage Liverpool.
John Aldridge Ian rush legends.

{Ed001's Note - really good game as well and so nice that Sven made tactical changes to win it.}

24 Mar 2024 09:09:41
Chuffed for you Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - I am just hoping it raised a lot for charity and that Sven got the most out of it. Watching him come out to a roar from the Kop did bring tears to my eyes I have to admit.}

24 Mar 2024 09:32:46
Only 2 players got an 8 rating in the Times - Paqueta and Gomes, none for England as per. Well done Joao.

I was happy with Southgate until recently, we were so close to winning something. He's just not able to manage a game. His initial set up yesterday seemed ineffectual, it needed tweaking. Individually a few of the England team played well but we were never a threat in open play yet nothing was altered it appears. As said above, like for like subs. GON is far less experienced but he alters setups mid game more often than not.

It's too late to change now, but I think he'll walk in July, if not I think we're wasting the most talented England squad ever.

24 Mar 2024 09:37:37
I stopped watching England the day grealish got called up pretty petty I know but I can’t stand the cheating little git from what I can gather I haven’t missed much either I was more interested in our little Brazilian master than englands performance

24 Mar 2024 10:04:20
Here here Ed001re raising for charity why it means something for me to post to you.
It's the nice side of the football community even though I'm a yam yam wolves fan.

Mac, grealish hasn't turned up any trees at man City I dislike the bloke too.

{Ed001's Note - that is what football clubs should be about - the local community that they draw their original fanbase from.}

24 Mar 2024 11:05:09
Very true Phil for me it was just the fact that for years we absolutely crucified foreign players for cheating and diving then all of a sudden it’s ok for an English player to start doing it I won’t have it I’m afraid. All his diving does is slow up play if teams want to press quickly. If Southgate’s happy with that then he’s not the man for the job.

24 Mar 2024 11:45:50
Southgate always was and will always be a Yes man to the FA. I remember the good old days when Bobby Robson, Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle and Kevin Keegan selected players based on form, not the club you played for.

24 Mar 2024 17:12:02
Like you mac, I've given up on England. They turn up now more interested in themselves than being proud to represent the country. The FA just hijack games for money and commercialism. I just can't find the passion to enjoy it.

25 Mar 2024 10:21:53
England since 96 we've disappointed in every tournament.
All the golden generation Beckham lampard Gerrard deville shearer etc etc couldn't get past q/f.

Southgate has actually got us to 2 semi and a final.

Its all the same o same o qualify and fail in tournaments.

25 Mar 2024 10:23:44
Heard on Radio Wimborne Southgate picks maguire from how he performed at previous tournaments.

26 Mar 2024 17:25:40
Southgate really showing he picks his team and squad on sentiment alone and not form or ability. Handed rice the arm Band on his 50th cap wow what a way to run our national team. I bet he throws him a tea party with fairy cakes too, Pathetic

23 Mar 2024 12:29:11
Well done ladies, last night, yet another win v the Tescos' FWAW .

23 Mar 2024 13:56:37
Well done indeed Preston. I have a question, do the Women's teams operate with separate accounts to the men's game and is the women's game subject to ffp constraints like the men's?

For example, if City are found guilty of all that they are accused of and get relegated as a punishment how would that impact on their women's team who could have benefited in a similar fashion as the men's, being the same club.

23 Mar 2024 16:24:28
This is a very good question Long mate.
How does FFP function in the women's game?

There is a lot less financial regulation in the women's game in the United Kingdom and Europe right now and that has led to calls for changes to be made.

In the Women's Super League, there is a salary cap which allows top flight sides to spend 40% of their turnover on wages. The issue with that is that those totals can be merged with the men's team within the same club, so the likes of Manchester United Women can spend 40% of a much larger pot of cash as the overall club of Man Utd generates so much money.

Man Utd's head of group planning and finance that has been recently calling for more financial regulation in the UK women's game so that a small set of teams do not kill the competitiveness of the division.

Speaking at the European Club Association's first women's football summit, Francesca Whitfield said: "Currently in the WSL we have a salary cap system which is 40% of revenue, but that includes parent club income, meaning the larger clubs naturally benefit from shirt deals on the men's side.

"That's creating a gap that is affecting the product and this can't be something that we just address domestically, this has to be something we address on a European level to make sure the European tournaments are the best and we're at the forefront of that."

In the Premier League right now, the rules allow for total losses over a three-year period of £105m. There are penalties in place for clubs that exceed that figure. Whitfield is aware that it is not as simple as copying the rules in the men's game as it is a different financial landscape.

"We can't simply emulate or replicate what we did on the men's side, the game is in a different space and we need to ensure that we can invest but equally attract investment, " said Whitfield. "Smaller clubs are not able to invest at that level, so how do we encourage them to do so if it's not a fair playing field and they can't possibly ever be competitive with how things currently are?"

23 Mar 2024 18:26:34
Thanks for the explanation Rated. This came to mind as I was watching Man U women v Man City women earlier.

From what you've said it seems that women's football needs some form of financial regulation as currently I suspect the parent club controls the spending based on the ROI but that as you say still gives the bigger clubs an advantage.

. Leicester City charged with breaking profit and sustainability rules by the premier league

21 Mar 2024 19:14:46
You beat me to it HTP. Apparently, over failure to submit their accounts on time and having similar losses to Everton when they were last in the Prem.

That would mean starting the season with a negative points total if they get promoted and are found guilty, of course. On the upside Wolves wouldn't start that season in 20th, I suppose.

22 Mar 2024 06:27:59
Just a question of how many points?

22 Mar 2024 06:33:37
Lol longmynd Wycombe out of the running for premier league promotion this season.🤣
HALFTIMEPIE/longmynd for sure we'll be starting the season with an advantage over 1 promotes team points wise, BUTwe are going to be interested at the top half and hopefully further up than thinking about tge lower end of the league.

Re feed below about rest of the season.
My view is similar in that the wind was knocked out of my sails with coventry and result performance.
I said see all in 2 weeks but if I am a good man I fit the saying you can't keep a good man down for long.

Abbey its a whopper of a super fresh crisp morning tge birds are singing the weekend is nigh no work this weekend we've smashed the overload of work we've been under this last month.
Happy days.
I'm still in the process of selling my property waiting for solicitors and then can go ahead and by my dream pad.ive been working towards it seems like ages but getting closer.
My bro is sound but he gets confused a lot my sil and I will make sure again that his season ticket will be there for him but he thinks he got no money and may not want to renew.

Next season I believe recruitment is key ore so than could be and with hobbs our fanbase is more together as one on this issue of which makes my life with wolves loads better.

Come on you wolves.

22 Mar 2024 16:39:10
Good for you phil, was overcast down here but sun shining now and feels more upbeat.
Next year is going to see a few new faces I reckon, and the departure of some of our favourites. Can't be helped just hope we progress.
I can't really get into these international friendlies although I hope Gomez get a run against England. Shirts and crosses have taken over them game it seems.
Anyway can't wait until the vile next week, don't know what team we'll have but if Dawson back I think we'll take something.
Enjoy your off time Phil and best wishes to your bro.

24 Mar 2024 10:16:08
Thanks Abbey you take care pal and all of elder age.
Fingers crossed we can all celebrate something together.
But All else fails we can enjoy trying.

Does anyone think the excitement is over for the season. No FA Cup semi final to look forward to. Safe from relegation. O'Neill may find it difficult to motivate the players in the remaining league games.

21 Mar 2024 06:14:27
My worries exactly lindsayB, I asked after the semi if our bubble had burst for this season. No doubt GON will try and motivate us and get things as good as he can, but surely there will be a feeling of 'going through the motion' and simply fulfilling our fixtures. Unless, of course, the win bonuses are substantial enough to drive us on. Villa game will provide enough to get us going but we may see a tail off I think.

21 Mar 2024 07:48:39
Semi? I meant quarter final of course.

21 Mar 2024 08:36:07
It all depends if we have anyone up front! Also need Dawson back to sew up our leaky defence.

21 Mar 2024 09:42:15
I think we're all still so deflated after that loss, it's hard to feel positive now. I'm still struggling to come to terms with it.

21 Mar 2024 12:19:59
I don't think the excitement is over. If a possible push for European qualification doesn't spur the players and fans on, then I don't know what will.

21 Mar 2024 13:33:30
If Wolves have thought us anything this season, they never stop battling. There is a European spot to play for, so nothing is dead in the water, it is a bit too early for "on the beach mindset" from the players.

21 Mar 2024 14:40:16
No we are only 3 points away from 7th with a game in hand over West Ham, still all to play for.

21 Mar 2024 17:09:46
Why are people even considering the season being over, we are in touching distance of a European place and from what I’ve read 8th should be enough to get European football next season. I’m still positive about it all, guess it depends on your outlook on life as to if you are. I’m sure the players are still up for it and Cunha being back will lift them. Can’t believe this is even a topic for discussion, some of the support on here leaves me speechless.

22 Mar 2024 06:44:00
Hi Goatmark I've always thought this season from when through GON the teams contention for Europe spot would be too early in our progress and have fear with our squad needing boosting we could take few steps back and have poor season.
But we do get Europe spot I'd be made up.
I fear though to repeat we could be victims of our own success.
Their fans hurting from tge Coventry result and maybe their thinking is clouded with the Parkside.
More positive posts like tge ones on thus feed is always the best to give opportunity to lift spirits.
Come on you wolves.

22 Mar 2024 07:21:32
Typo Parkside should be darkside (of the force lol)

22 Mar 2024 12:26:42
I hear what your saying Phil, imo getting to Europe would give us more chance of keeping our better players and also help us attract better players too, as long as we have a bit to spend this summer hopefully we can add a few quality players and step up to the next level, or at least consolidate fighting for European places. I definitely don’t think the players will think this season is over though. As I said before the Coventry game they are a good side who score a lot, without our forward line being intact we were always going to struggle to out score them. Football isn’t as simple as we are premier and they are championship so we should win.

22 Mar 2024 14:41:50
Goat I respect your comment mate but I think we made Coventry
look good think the Mancs will beat them 3or4 nil
i realy hope i'm proved wrong can't stand the Mancs

COUW

23 Mar 2024 14:51:02
If true and nettos season is over. I think that is a really confidence
Downer. I know we shouldn't be relying on one player. But he is so influential. Just the first half body language v Coventry was in itself worrying, and made you wonder if behind the scenes there was something amiss, hope not.
I'm getting over that defeat slowly
And probably reacted badly to it
So next game will show us more
And been linked to a few new faces for summer.
So yes coyw
