Im watching the game today, but i'm not confident. Spurs missing Udogie and Porro may help. I hope our wingers can take advantage. Our defense needs to be top notch today to hold back the Spurs offense. Ill be happy with a draw.

Silly mistake by Dawson for the equaliser but what a run by Neto to set up the 2nd for us. If that was by anyone from the big 6 clubs, we'd never here the end of it.

Both Mosquera and Guedes played the full 90 minutes against Getafe last night in a 1-1 draw. Great experience for Yerson and for Guedes more chance of getting a fee for him come the end of the season.

Bad day at the office. Brentford are a nasty side who cheat so much but we didn’t do enough unfortunately. Cunha as soon as he went off I thought we are going to be in for a long afternoon. Just one of those days. Move on now.

We really are experts at shooting ourselves in the foot.

1st half we deserved to be at least 4 down, 2nd half we played like our normal selves and never gave up. I like Bellegarde when he’s out wide but up front as the central striker just didn’t work. Looking forward to the next game

Well we didn’t deserve anything from that game to be honest. A shocking first half display. Defence and let’s be honest everybody else all over the place. How they didn’t score atleast 10 was beyond me. Semedo was getting no help from Neto and was constantly out numbered. Sloppy second goal after Rashford took his effort clinically.
Then the second half started out the same but then we grew into it and grind out chances to get back into the game and then switch off. Fight back to 3-3 and switch off.
Let’s hope we can have a more complete performance on Sunday. I do like our spirit of never say die but would rather we be in front and not always have to come from behind.

Great fightback but you can't give teams a two goal start.

I have allowed the heat to drop before commenting on the game and will not comment on the events off the pitch other than to say I am grateful that Jas, his wife and child plus as far as I am aware any others who were caught up in the events are safe.
First of all, apologies if my marks are a little lower than against the other Albion from the south coast as, despite the result, I didn't think it was as good a performance.
For the first ten minutes we struggled to get a foothold but after that we were fairly comfortable but rarely got out of 2nd gear.
Let's start with the ref.
To be honest I thought he did ok given how "hot" the game could have become. Maybe Bartley and Wallace were a bit lucky only to get yellows - Bartley easily could have been a straight red for his horrible forearm smash on Cunha (I hope he doesn't get a complex and that going forwards he gets a bit more protection from the refs!) and Wallace committed a v bad foul on Doyle for his yellow and continued to foul regularly thereafter
Ratings
Sa 7 Excellent once again. Makes everything look simple and is very calm. Not sure what he has to do to convince some of the more virulent posters on social media sites?
Doherty 6 Strange game. He basically played in midfield for most of the match - presumably under instructions once again. For me he was too negative at Brighton but today too gung ho and left Toti exposed quite a few times that against a better side would have been punished. Personally I would like a more balanced approach. I can't dispute however - I know many many many will - that going forwards he is a real handful and gives us a great outlet and defensively he is strong particularly in the air. However I'm not sure he still has the legs, energy or whatever to get up and down and so is often caught in no man's land? Playing on the left is not his forte either but given that he does all of this under instructions, (indeed one assumes he has always played, in his rather unique position as a very advanced RWB with seemingly freedom to roam forwards and get into the box at will, under instructions from the various Wolves managers who have consistently selected him. Like Adama, who was only good enough to play a handful of games for Barcelona and Spain, he has only been good enough to make the Atletico Madrid squad and Eire sides. I wish all our squad were that poor! ), I am far from certain that he deserves the terrible criticism meted out to him by some of our so called fans on social media
Semedo 6 Quiet game but still solid enough
Kilman 7 Once again a real leader's performance. Very strong at the back, winning countless tackles and making some superb blocks and interceptions, ( bizarrely he is another of the players regularly castigated as too passive by some of our fans on social media).Always comfortable on the ball and a good distributor but if that pass was meant it was a brilliant ball for the second goal!
Dawson 7 Alongside Kilman was immense when required! You have to hope we can coax another year out of him as he has been top draw so far this year!
Toti 6 Was left exposed by Doherty's strange positioning and had to battle away. Did ok and grew in confidence as we worked our way into the game after the first 10 minutes or so.
Doyle 8 Other than for a few minutes after the "Wallace" foul, when he looked rattled was superb again. Having just broken into the side it is perhaps ridiculous to say it but he is showing Neves like qualities! Gomes is brilliant and will be available after Man U so 3 into 2 will be a nice problem to have. Maybe we play all 3 and drop Sarabia against the stronger sides? When Hwang returns it will be an even more lovely problem! Given the number of games we have still to play though and our injuries and surely forthcoming suspensions maybe sadly it won't be such a problem?
Lemina 7 Strong and mobile it was another really good performance. Outshone though by the greater passing ability of Doyle
Cunha 7 Runs all day, his work rate is great and his commitment unquestionable - a sliding tackle in the 89th minute summing up his performance. Although I love a trier I love quality even more and he has that in spades and was too good for WBA.
Bellegarde 6 Worked v hard in an unnatural position. Clearly not at the same level as Cunha or Neto - v v few are - but tried hard and didn't let us down. Sadly for him though he is another one who our fans on social media have taken against.
Neto 7 He is some player!. Not only does he score and assist regularly but he runs defences ragged creating time and space for other AND works back! Don't sell!.

Subs
RAN 7 Looks a class act. Maybe he is better suited for a more advanced role?
Chirewa (sp) 6 Again brought on showing GON's faith. My only red flag was when he could have got away down the right he didn't seem to engage top gear and the full back got across him when he shouldn't have. Seems calm and sensible in and out of possesion though and played a lovely ball for Cunha to run onto. Although in both games he has been sent on to close out the match, which he has done well I would like to see him given the opportunity to open up and show his attacking skills and pace. Hopeful!

future, pretty much agree with all of those. Only one thing Gomes is available for Man Utd game so you may have given Gary an idea for that game! I'm sure he'll be reading your ratings avidly later today! I'm sure he will, what else could he have to do!

29 Jan 2024 18:25:22
Thanks for your views and ratings Future. Agree entirely that Toti was fairly regularly exposed early on but that seemed to be sorted. Can't be having Ait Nouri further up field, best kept to wing back. Both Cunha and Doyle were excellent in parts but also got caught in possession and gave the ball away at times. Bring on Thursday.

Hi Thefutureisoldgold appreciate as always your insights.
To be honest I lost interest with all the aggro.

I thought sa was excellent always looking for the quick throw out Neto the main target.
Imo our players weren't at full pelt a Conservative performance.
Think mainly down to playing poor opposition when we play utd Thursday I think we'll play better as a team on the attack.
All in all we got the Job done.
