Let's go for Luke Shaw, in nuno he will be respected. I'm sure he will be a class act with a proper manager. Also what about a cheeky bid for Ramsey it will be appealing to him to play along side the likes of neves.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think Luke Shaw is the same player after his injury and I think we could get better than Ramsey, not done much for Arsenal,

Guys I think we might need a bit of a reality check here! Both those players have spent pretty much there entire senior career playing for Champs League level teams (give or take the odd season) . In what realm is Ramsey sat there going 'well I know when I play I am one of Arsenals best players and recently Chelsea have been linked to me. but will someone please tell me about this Champ clubs that's about to be promoted?! '

Don't get me wrong I am sure we will all be surprised by the calibre of the signings but so far the only quality domestic players we have signed have been on a free, with the money spent on Jorges clients. I think we will see the same thing happen again this summer. Great to have ambition but if other fans start to see us saying 'we could do better than Ramsey' on our first season back well for me that's pretty much asking to be set up for a fall! Also its just nonsense, on those rare occasions when he's fully fit Ramsey is by far one of the most technically gifted midfielders in the Prem!

Well said, BullysBoy. It's alwyas fun to dream, but we fans have a habit of getting carried away at both ends of the happiness spectrum sometimes. I trust those in charge at the moment to deliver the players we need to progress over the next 5-10 years, but I doubt they will be established British players who carry an immense markup simply because of their Britishness.

Saying that. sign 'em up!

No to either of these!
Shaw I’m not convinced with his injury issues. Plus I think he would leave us open in our current 3-4-3 formation.
Ramsey is a bit hit and miss. Great passer and vision but I think he would be light weight as shown in an arsenal shirt.
There are a few players going on a free this summer.
If we were going for these sort of players I would go for Meyer from schalke. He would cost (salary wise) but at 22 yrs of age he would be good for Neves next to him.
Also Ballotelli is available. I know what your going to say he’s a bigger name which is true however for his off field antics. I think he could make a strong partnership with Nuno and he would like our style of play. Also he has a lot to prove and I think champions league clubs wouldn’t take a risk on him.

Nice idea with Meyer Anew although I do fear that again if he is running down his contract he will be looking for a bigger club (Arsenal and Bayern were tied last window) . As for Balotelli even if he wasn't a liability his goal record in the Prem is truly shocking so again not overly fussed there, especially for the crazy wages he will be wanting!

I suppose that was my point guys, we have had the luxury this season of being a big fish again, I seriously doubt that will be the case next season. Which is why I fully expect more left field arrivals from the continent. I don't know about most on here but I know I had never heard of Costa, Saiss or even Boly before we signed um but in terms of value for investment well they've been pretty good value haven't they! COYW;)

You cannot be serious, Anew dawn?
Balotelli? He is dreadful. A spoilt, selfish brat. Against PSG at the weekend. Corners terrible, free kicks clearing the stand, easily brushed off the ball, sulking. Never wants to pass. Even Nice fans were booing him.

I'd sooner have Akinfenwa!

20 Mar 2018 22:29:25
Wolf- LOVING the Akinfenwa reference, that guy was a quality player

for a body builder! ;)

Looking at summer targets.

Ryan Fredericks (Fulham) is out of contract and would be great competition for Doc

From the Championship who would you like to take with us to the Prem?

Some ideas - Cainery, Sessegnon, Morrison.

21 Mar 2018 17:15:30
Not many 1877 in my opinion.

Players that have stood out for me are:-
Sessegnon
Cairney- although he hasn’t been consistent and I still have questions over him.
Brereton- forest 18 years of age did our back 3
Zahore
That’s all I can think of from an age and consistency point of view.

21 Mar 2018 17:18:20
Leon Clarke . 😂😂😂.

21 Mar 2018 21:05:34
Not Clarke even third time lucky won't be enough to convince me he's consistent just a good streak in the first half of the season

Quality players we have seen against us this season are Sessignon Mitrovic Carney all Fulham Grabban maybe Grealish and Adomah at Villa Forestieri early on but probably no longer, the Boro defender I can't remember, probably a Cardiff player but they don't stay in my mind I also like Ikechi Anya for his occasional game changing inspiration but he doesn't do it often enough to play in the premier.

21 Mar 2018 21:37:17
Some interesting names be banded about here, all hypothetical so why the devil not. I know I keep banging the same drum but all I would say is that as most players listed are domestic based players then I just can't see Fosun paying the extra 'domestic mark up'.

Take Sessignon I mean the lad is class and going to be a great player but because of that he has been tied as Luke Shaws replacement in a £30+m move to United! Now weather that happens or not Fulham won't be selling him for less than £20+m so why then would fosun want to pay that for an young English lad that's untried in the Prem?! Especially when they can get another recommendation off Uncle Jorge and sign someone for a tenth of the price. Look at Douglas came in at around £1m now as great as Sessignons potential is who is having the better season, either way Barry is certainly not a tenth of the quality now is he.

Thing that I think peeps have to remember here is that first and foremost Fosun are an investment company and any adviser (cough Jorge cough) would tell you pretty quick that if you want value for money you have to either be VERY creative domestically or you need to shop abroad! So far they have chosen the later option and so far its turned out alright!

PS- Window- that Boro defender is Gibson and a VERY tidy player, would LOVE us to get him but again with 'English player premium' I think its unlikely.

well, with the masterclass Nuno has pulled off in converting Coady to a rounded, influential sweeper, we could well fill a whole host of positions with squad members.
So, there's another question.
Who could be converted Coady-style to other positions in the team?
Interesting!

{Ed001's Note - how is it a masterclass in converting Coady? In Liverpool's youth teams he played there anyway. He played defence and midfield, but more often defence.}
