Not signing Jota until July. Why?

Agree0 Disagree0

Does it matter it's agreed 👍.

Money required for someone else?

A fee was agreed as part of the loan deal.
If they sign him sooner than that Atletico tear up the agreement and will want a far bigger fee so a no brainer for us really.

One answer FFP.

Price will be the same whatever time that they buy Derby. Makes sense to pay later though.

I am guessing that Jota's new deal with us would be higher wages than he is currently on so if they wait until July they pay his current wages rather than the inflated wages.

Yeah Olds right on this Derby makes no difference to price as essentially it works the same as a minimum release fee (albeit only applicable to the club he's at) . For me the reasons will be simple a) FFP, why complicate things on that when you can just wait till the clubs financially stronger and b) and I'm amazed no one else has clocked this but is it not entirely likely that Jota has said I'm not signing on that dotted line till I know you are a Prem club?! let's be honest whatever happens there is NO CHANCE that most of these quality loans would be up for another Champ season! Sure we'll be fine COYW ;)

I think the financial figures are submitted in march, so by leaving it till the summer it won't be on this years. All to get round ffp I'm guessing. Hopefully with the deal not bein done till the summer it leaves the door open for us to bring in a striker tomorrow 👍.

Good info. Thanks. Just hope he doesn't change his mind or get poached before July .

Great news Wolves intend making Jota permanent in the summer - however - has Jota himself agreed the move? I haven't read anywhere that he has agreed to making the move permanent. As I understand it Wolves have just stated their intention to make it permanent.
Really don't want to put a dampener on all this joy - I'm delighted Wolves want him.
Just would be nice to get a statement from Diogo himself to make it clear.

Nik- Think your wrong there if honest, else they wouldn't of had an announcement to even make as it would have been same old! Pretty sure the very basis of the announcement will be that we have a provisional contract in place with him although I don't doubt there will be caveats in it first of which I imagine is promotion. Should be fine there then, I also wouldn't be surprised if he has a release fee in there. I have heard whispers that Costas does but then no one really knows on these things. Also that will be why they are holding off on the personal statements because if it is contingent on promotion they would make themselves look especially poor if he announced it and then it didn't happen ;)
