Obviously this Silva rumour with Wolves offering £35m. 😀 seems to be way off the mark. Maybe we enquired tentatively and that's as far as we got.
Looking back now even I got excited this evening believing the story and was more believable when Franksy on Radio WM football phone in heard the rumour.
Looks like what someone seen on twitter has snowballed out of control.
Think we will make this sort of signing when promotion is confirmed. Wasn't it a great feeling though for those few hours earlier just thinking of that sort of player. 🌛🌛🌛🌛.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it way off the mark? AC Milan already have big debt problems from the takeover and EUFA have them under scrutiny for the dreaded FTP.

No one's denying that AC Milan are in financial trouble but that doesn't mean he's joining us. What put AC Milan in this position in the 1st place? Buying players they couldn't afford so had to borrow money from elsewhere. If we bought him and got relegated from the Premier League, we'd be in a similar position as the funds have to come from the money within the club not from the owners pocket. To overcome FFP, when in debt, the owner must prove that he can cover the debt if required.

Jas our owners can cover the debt though! Milans problem is no one had ever heard of their current owner before he bought them and he had to borrow a fairly major lump of money from an American investor, which now looks like they will default on. Fosun have enough funds internally to not need to do this.

Chamberswolf, I know that our owners can cover the debt if required however that's not how FFP works. For instance: Wolves are promoted and are guaranteed £100m for 1 season from TV money, gate receipts bring in £10m, merchandise and sponsorships bring in another £40m. That would gives us £150m spending ability. Out of this we would need to buy and pay any players. If we bought say £150m of players, the wages would not be covered by our income therefore incurring a debt, albeit from our owners. This will still be classed as a debt and will affect our financial status thus making us breach FFP as we have spent more than we earn. Classic case is QPR.

You both make valid points that show the good and bad points of a takeover.
So far out takeover errs on the good side. Shi has already said if they ever fall foul of FTP they will sell players to eradicate it.
Interesting times.

Your correct Jas. but it’s about account
and contract manipulation. As our sponsors will be Fosun groups. It’s important that any sponsorship is short term eg 3 years so the amount of sponsorship can increase quicker than the likes of Man City and utd who are stuck in long term deals with Adidas for example. That is just one example but training ground and stadium rights also come to mind. Also the money seems off set and in manageable amounts. This suits many teams on the continent as they are financially insecure or are dependant on there youth systems. This is why enlarging our academy squads and making them competitive can only aid us in our journey to the pinacle. It’s one thing that will damage huddersfiekd as they decided it was to expensive to run.

So a few things to bear in mind:
1) the premiership is worth more than 170 million in tv money.
2) Fosun are in control of our sponsors- whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing I’m uncertain at the moment but it’s a positive that we can secure our own future
3) always develop academy at what ever level it inspire s the next generation and can alleviate costs and add profile to the club.
4) ever asset is yet to be sponsored maybe Fosun will look at this buy can see certain things been ring fenced eg Molineux.

Champions League money is worth minimum £28m if knocked out of the group stage
Just thought its worth noting.

Yeah 1877 the problem at Milan is the 250-300 million debt the owner has took out. To purchase the club the Chinese owner is unknown in China. Feels a bit like some other deals that have been done over the years. However they are missing payments on the loans they have hence the panic at Milan and how there form has made the issue worse. But back to the issue if Nuno wants a player everything possible will be done to finance that deal. If a player doesn’t fancy it then Mendes would be the mediator.

I think that we should be focusing on our midfield as well as Silva. I would love that kid from Benfica or someone who could do a better job than Saiss.
At the moment we have 4 midfielders
Neves
Saiss
N’Dyaie
Gibbs-white

Unless these are our 4 midfielders for the premier league I still think we need reinforcements.

So jaz thinks we are going up and then coming straight back down, unbelievable.

10 Jan 2018 17:52:45
Another thing to add Jas is its not just FFP that is causing Milan problems. They have borrowed externally at seemingly high interest rates and are going to default. This is not something we should have an issue with.

Demon, where have I said we're going down. I stated points based on 1 single season. Stop trying to stir things up and read the posts properly.

10 Jan 2018 18:21:06
And also worst case scenario.

10 Jan 2018 21:13:51
I don’t think it is a case of worse case scenario Jas.

Don’t be fooled this club could make the success of Mendes in the future as well. It may just be that clubs have mistreated his players and him in the past. Think of how many deals have fell through or were close but the club just stopped the deal for some unforeseen reason.

Interesting he’s a business man but he is switched on with his players as well. Diego Costa and Ronaldo come to mind also how he has treated the recent recruits this season.

You are also forgetting the Chinese market and I believe after watching developments over the past 18 months Fosun will invest in a marketing team and look to sell brand Wolves there. Obviously the rewards of that could be exponential. Especially if Club Med deals with wolves benefits are put together or membership benefits with joining Fosun with tv like sky deals. Which is something I feel Fosun would do to get the biggest audience as possible involved thus sponsorship and brands will flock to sell there products on Chinese media. Interesting.

Don't understand how you boys can be taken in by all this flannel of rumours, majority of links is to mendes players, maybe it's to get him some loot that's why we are linked to them. If we're linked other people get interested and now there even quoting how much the players are worth. Clever mendes and clever gestifute how I believe are our own. 🤔.

Promotion to the Premier League does not guarantee you £100m a season as Jas M states. It currently guarantees you between £180m and £200m a season. When the new TV deals kick in - the ones that the likes of Amazon are preparing to bid for - in a couple of years time it is estimated that every club in the Premier League will be guaranteed a minimum £400m a season which will rise year on year. Unless you are in it you will be nowhere, cast adrift for eternity.
