I understand that players wages had to be brought down once we were relegated from the prem and then to l1,but can someone acctually explain the reason why moxey is paid so much for the job he does?
After all I'm correct in saying that wwfc is a football club, meaning that the players on the pitch are the ones who'generate money for the club, by putting in winning performances with the hope of winning leagues, gaining promotions, winning cups etc, if we keep on paying the players with brass buttons so to speak we will never end up with players of the quality required, to put bums on seats and win win those promotions, this can also be said of the managers position, but I can't understand why moxey is paid what he's paid, he really is a massive waste of resources'until this guy is shown he door we as a club will languish in mid table or worse.

He is highest paid in Championship and paid more than about 8 Premier League CEOs.

Several reasons JimmyJones.

1. Jez has been with Wolves for 16 years now as CEO. Therefore incentives such as loyalty bonuses and, in three instances, promotion bonuses would've come into effect. Ka-ching!

2. Jez has always been a very involved CEO. Morgan, as chairman, has always had a rather reserved role (except for when he barged into the dressing room after we were pummeled by his beloved Reds! ) therefore he's always been very close to all goings-on at Molineux.

3. Say what you will, the man can turn a porfit. Look at, for instance, Fletcher, Jarvis, Afobe, Kightly, Camara, Hennessey, Akinbiyi, Lescott. The list goes on. Credit where it's due; Wolves have rarely made a major loss on a player under his guidance.

4. It's only really since 2012/ 13 that we've scaled back on the quality of personnel brought into the club. Under Moxey, we've had a former England and Ireland national team manager, Solbakken with his Champions League credentials not to mention names like Irwin, Ince on the pitch. £6.5-7m was spent on the likes of Kevin Doyle, Steven Fletcher, Jamie O'Hara (Sorry, a warning should've been given) and Roger Johnson (Again, sorry) . Only since Saunders did we begin to sacrifice pedigree for potential.

Overall, I entirely agree that Moxey's wages are a huge waste for Wolves. Unquestionably the money could be better spent elsewhere. However, say what you want, he is part of this club's modern history. Love him or loathe him, he's here to stay.

An excellent scripted and worded post. I thoroughly agree Wolfie Wilde. 3 words. NAIL ON HEAD.

totally agree wolfie but surely now with the parachute payments gone and everyone else at the club having to cut the cloth accordingly his massive wage demands should be looked at and brought into line with reality, its not going to put him on the bread line as he as the catering contract at the mol earning him hundreds of thousands a year as well.
we all know the catering contract is in his wifes name but that also smacks of insider dealing. the mans a shark.

If some of the more astute people on the blog want to look into the Kamara deal I think there may be a few surprises rear their head.
Who Camara's acting agent was would be very interesting and it may be there were some conflicts of interest on that occassion. A certain person made a lot of money out of that deal.
Possibly that Camara didn't really want to leave but (encouraged to go in the interest of someone making a killing out of agents fee's) .

Wolfie Wilde.
Excellent post. Yes, you've shown that Moxey can turn a profit. But, to me, Moxey is also a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. As far as I know it was Moxey who wouldn't sanction the purchase of Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood for £1mil. Ditto, Callum Wilson for about £3mil. The list goes on. Imagine, Vardy and Wilson in our forward line?

There's an old saying in my business "nobody goes bust taking a profit". In reality, all that happens is that someone else gets the good buys because they look out for the idiot who always takes a profit, no matter how good the product is. That's why we are right back where Moxey found us when we hired him 16 years ago.
