Therwell has said that Lambert will have the final say on incoming players and has the power to veto any he doesn't deem suitable. Apparently Zenga had the same status. However, if the new Manager has the power to veto new players, it is clear that there is someone else doing all the recruiting. Lambert should be able to identify the players HE wants and the recruitment should do the negotiations. If we fail again, Lambert will be blamed but we must remember that he does not bring in the players.

Point is Jas, at one time (showing my age now) clubs signed players from within UK. Managers were alerted by scouts and went to check them out. Now it is world wide scouting (can`t expect manager to see them first hand) . May see videos/ games hence the veto. let's hope they get it right.

Romain Saiss was recommended to the Club by Butti. Walter Zenga had no say in the matter apparently as he was the Head Coach and had no say in recruitment. As long as Lambert gets a say, it should be OK. What is not acceptable is if a player is brought in by others and Lambert is told to coach them against his wishes.

Not a great example as Saiss looks like he can be a player. Good all round but not found his shooting boots yet. Not sure if we have anyone better the Big Mac who was let go in a rush.

I don't disagree as Saiss does look like a good player, whereas Gladon does not. However the interview named Saiss but might apply to Gladon too, as well as Ola John who was not a Zenga signing.

Gladon, Ola confuse me to bits as do the Rowe Saville Evans etc before. For he last few seasons we've bought too many midfielders, trying to fill Sakos halted used glitter boots and expected the young one for future defenders to come to fruition. It's worked to a degree but were way too predictable. I don't think we're too far away as we've seen in glimpses this season, get some confidence into them with clean sheets but need to change back to a 4231 or even go Chelsea route with 352 or 532 dependant on when you have the ball.

I'd personally play 352. Ikeme Silvio Hause Doherty Cavaleiro Costa Oniangue Edwards Saiss Dicko Bodvarsson. Saiss would be used in a sweeper type role, Oniangue as the ball winner with Edwards roaming forward.
