Is Arne Slot A Good Fit For Liverpool?

25 Apr 2024 07:39:23
{Ed's Note - Nevada has posted a new article entitled, Is Arne Slot A Good Fit For Liverpool?

25 Apr 2024 02:12:09
Where does it end with VAR, high time our club grew a pair and kcked up a fuss about it enough is enough.

Regarding Semedo at CB that was due to Bueno getting a hamstring injury that's why he had to come off.

My love for the game has gone with VAR I walked out of the match early for the first time tonight.

25 Apr 2024 06:48:08
Life can be hard and injustice at times. But there are also some good moments. Going fishing ride my old Norton or watch a good game of football. Well football is no longer on that list. Thank you VAR.

25 Apr 2024 06:52:20
t is not just the incompetents managing the technology Rated, but also the diluting of the world rated "pyramid system" we have in British football, dodgy Ownerships and confusing Financial Rules.
The beautiful game as we have known it is fast disappearing.

25 Apr 2024 08:04:52
I can live with human errors by the referee. It's part of the game and life. Nobody is perfect. What I have learnt to hate is faceless people behind closed doors making bad decisions "to your own good". And for me VAR has become a symbol of such injustice. I have had more than enough of that in real life. Why pay money to get even more.

25 Apr 2024 08:20:50
I don't think you're on your own with that thought Rated, personally I can't wait for this season to end.

It would be the old Norton ride for me Shrekken, what model/year is it? My ride out this Sunday (ride for life) has been postponed due to weather concerns so the frustration grows.

25 Apr 2024 08:23:43
Many predicted that the influx of massive sums of money into the game would be the death of it, were they right, probably.

25 Apr 2024 08:24:19
I think the fans from every team
Should do something.
Because the fa will not.
It's rife in football now. It's embarrassing surely to the fa
Week in week out
What if for one batch of games
No one attended a match. In protest
Surely it will prompt a refurb of var
Goal line technology is fine
What doesn't help is bloody TV
Zooming in on tight decisions either being given wrongly or correctly
Thus causing mass hysteria among supporters
If we went back to refs on field
decision, then carry on at once, as it was originally, we would get the
Banter amongst ourselves if he was right or wrong

25 Apr 2024 09:06:09
It's a Norton commando 850 1975. Starting rebuilding a t160 now. Hope to get it on the road next summer. It's a terrible disease called anglofil. Can't be cured. But lots of fun.

25 Apr 2024 09:32:18
Love it Shrekken, great bike and great that Norton seem to be in safe hands now after the previous shenanigans.

25 Apr 2024 10:27:27
Longmynd, money money money, who cares about football and the fans? The FA cup final will be played in Dubai after replays are stopped, top prem teams seeded at quarter final stage with computer assisted refereeing, virtual penalty shoot outs next, I wouldn't be surprised.

I think the Spanish super cup is/was to be moved out there already.

Last night's VAR involvement showed with hwangs goal that the games being taken away. Yes cunha raised his arm and it was a yellow, possibly even a red card but it didn't have any effect on the goal. You could argue that a foul should have been awarded but it didn't influence play contributing to the goal, and it didn't obstruct kleivert so it was off the ball contact, surely the goal awarded and cunha punished after? But no, the equaliser is cancelled by the 'computer says no' attitude of some detached manipulators, who's decisions flummox.
Kilmans effort, whilst his heel being on the line drawn out for offside, could never of benefitted from that marginal amount in finishing so it made no difference. Except for the zealots on VAR and the rules they apply in disallowing a goal. How can anyone play to those dictats? It surely changes the game of football as we knew it and why don't they listen to the chants of the PAYING fan who they see as their cash cows.

25 Apr 2024 17:33:58
You're not wrong Abbey and Greyleg makes good points. Fan power needs to step in and take the game back because every season it keeps getting worse.

It's like nothing is thought through which is of course typical of modern thinking but someone needs to put a stop to it.

25 Apr 2024 21:06:17
Sadly Longmynd, it is a money juggernaut driven by the Americans, determined to bring the Franchise Model to European Football.
.and it ain't stopping!

24 Apr 2024 21:55:11
Tonight has proved that the squad need strengthening.

Kilman and Toti are unorganised without Dawson.

The midfield has lost its bite and upfront we are toothless.

On paper we have some marvellous players. Unfortunately, the game is played on grass, not paper.

Roll on next season and a bigger, more competitive squad.

Tonight was a shower of sh*t.

24 Apr 2024 22:06:37
Couldn't agree more. Can't see us winning another game this season. Very poor tonight in all areas.

24 Apr 2024 22:19:01
Said that after Coventry game
Awful watch at times tonight
Var rears it's head again
We've been found out.
There's a few we need to say goodbye too, and a few who are not good enough
Like you say. See what next season brings.
Expect more false dawn's
More players linked and none signed
It's getting a habit
But I still love my club

24 Apr 2024 22:27:28
I've posted my ideal transfer activity earlier this week. We just look to play the ball out from the back and only ever seem to try and play attacking football when we are losing. As I said, I hope GON be8ngs in better defenders and more attack minded players.

24 Apr 2024 22:44:54
Oh my days everyone where do we start. GON what’s happened to your game changing ideas and subs? Nelson centre back? Doyle going off?
Wang should never have started the second half he’s not fit but tonight his whole body language was all wrong just looked like he couldn’t be bothered, Sarabia could make a 2 yard pass and lost every challenge he tried to make it was just so awful. VAR I’m just ashamed to talk about it tbh. I know we are saturated with injuries but there’s no fight anymore it’s a thought the players feel defeated before they kick a ball glad we already have the points on the board.
Fosun please invest properly in the summer the correct players to strengthen our squad. Not world class players, they wouldn’t come anyway BUT premier league experienced hardened players that help us

24 Apr 2024 23:44:04
Woeful all round tonight to be honest. I can't help but wonder if the rhetoric going into the season hasn't helped us. With most pundits tipping us for the drop and even GON coming in with the obvs (and often mentioned) remit of 'avoid relegation' what we seem to now have is a squad that has decided jobs done so let's start our hols early! Not really blaming anyone but injuries aside we just don't look like we have the fight we did when we NEEDED the points?! What I think this has also highlighted is that we are FAR to relient on our oldest CB (Dawson). Role on the last game of the season as far as I'm concerned! 😭

25 Apr 2024 00:00:09
Cunha incident was handbags. It didn’t stop Kluivert trying to make a tackle. Joke of a VAR decision. Maxs offside decision was too close also. The lines were drawn on a zoomed in pixelated blurry image. Still we were awful but the goal we scored had us getting better and we probably would have scored another after that.

25 Apr 2024 01:22:44
Toothless with two goals being called back?

25 Apr 2024 06:37:57
My bro said few words when he got in last night,
We were f, ING done.
I said can I have your ticket Saturday then he told me × off lol.

25 Apr 2024 06:45:41
Been saying this for weeks.we have obviously over performed early on this ssn and its a disastrous finish to the ssn which will see us finish in the bottom half winning about1game in the last dozen.so much for manager of the ssn.injuries or not

25 Apr 2024 10:44:32
It's a good job we stayed injury free for as long as we did.

25 Apr 2024 14:25:47
When you look at the referees name before a game or the VAR adjudicator and the name Stuart Attwell is there you know we have no chance. He is so bent he could hide behind a corkscrew. Having said that I played good money to watch that rubbish last night, it's a pity some of our team can't be bothered. To me the jury is out on GON his tactics nd substitutions leave a lot to be desired.

25 Apr 2024 17:33:19
Fair enough Ray, I just have to ask though (genuine question) what were you hoping for/expecting at the start of this season? What position did you think this sqaud was up to finishing in? I mostly ask cause I've been trying to work that out myself lately, is GON punching above our weight or have the media just underestimated the quality of our first team?

25 Apr 2024 18:17:08
BB I think many of our first teamers are top quality individuals, particularly those signed by JLo.

GON has got them performing but mainly in a steady as you go 343 favoured by Nuno and continued reluctantly by Lage and JLo due to not having other options.

The squad clearly needs depth we all know that as well as the flexibility to move to a back 4 as needed. Reliance on the youngsters to fill the gaps doesn't seem to work as well as hoped.

Those seem to me to be the issues that need to be solved.

In answer to you are we punching above our weight probably yes based on squad depth and flexibility but no based on first choice side when fully available for selection.

25 Apr 2024 19:32:53
You're right Bullysboy, I feared the worst at the start of the season. I have been pleasantly surprised but have to admit we have got results through hard work. All I am saying is that hard work has been missing since the surrender against Coventry. Some people are raving about GON but I think his lack of experience has shown in team selection recently.

24 Apr 2024 14:07:05
John Richards has been made clubs vice president.

A favourite of older wolves fans.

A good read on wolves official website.

Had the pleasure of John Richatds as the ex wolves pro on stadium tour few years back and have shook Billy Wright's hand in 1990 away at Sheffield utd.

Steve bull my her0 I saw him walking round the ground when he was suspended in late 80's.
My friends said here are phil go and shake his hand but nut ashamed to admit I was star struck went red and was too shy.

We all love the wolves so whatever happens that will always be.

Enjoy the mstch tonight fingers crossed 3 points.
COYW

24 Apr 2024 15:31:44
Nice story Phil, tha is for sharing.

24 Apr 2024 17:37:11
Hello everyone. I reckon we'll beat Bournemouth 2-0 tonight with Doyle getting one from outside the box, the other coming from the penalty spot.

24 Apr 2024 17:57:37
Fingers crossed.I'm going Saturday v Luton so hopefully a win

24 Apr 2024 18:11:58
My annual corporate visit in Wv1 at £177.ouch but it's only once a year so why not.meet up with my cousins one lives in Chester, the other in Dudley whilst I am in Leics for my sins! Miss the black Country big time

24 Apr 2024 18:12:51
Downside is I am staying at mums lol

24 Apr 2024 20:40:34
We started with 10 men (Sarabia as usual missing), I hope GON gives at least 1 of the youngsters a chance, they can't do any worse.

24 Apr 2024 21:53:04
2 VAR decisions against us again although tbh they were both debatable

24 Apr 2024 21:56:04
Thank you Sa, we could have been totally embarrassed. Tactics hard to fathom tonight, lemina lost/wasted in his role at the back. Sarabia not at the races. Hwang seeing little but a cracking goal that wasn't due to my friends and yours VAR&Atwell. Cunha lucky not to see red and again wasted taking corners etc. A tired weary performance. Plus why did VAR look at kilmans offside? Pointless.

25 Apr 2024 06:40:17
Trying to get my bros ticket for Saturday Nigel lol read other post above.

At very least you will have a good day out Saturday.
All the best. 👌

Ps thanks Jack 👍

Has PGMOL turned into an impossible to overthrow dictatorship?

24 Apr 2024 07:39:25
{Ed's Note - Lets Be Rational has posted a new article entitled, Has PGMOL turned into an impossible to overthrow dictatorship?

24 Apr 2024 11:37:57
Unsurprisingly I agree wholeheartedly with let's be rational on the VAR silencing and hiding from scrutiny.
Journos won't upset the applecart for fear of being excluded from briefings, managers can't question things for fear of punishment, clubs for fear of fines.
VAR like 'the computer says no' isn't allowing any 'common sense' to be applied and its ruining our sport and in some cases the aspirations of smaller clubs.

Surely the FA hear the derisive chants, surely it can't be good for the physical well being of players to stand around waiting for decisions.

Obviously the emotional turmoil of spectators awaiting outcomes can't be good for the spectacle.

So why do they persist with this unsatisfactory model? Criticism shrugged off without explanation or those that do being penalised.

As the game progressed? Is the game more enjoyable to watch? Can we say more wrongs have been righted that would have been accepted if given by a ref alone, because I feel that the level of reffing as declined since the responsibility is not solely on the heads. Ridiculous laws on handball and offside seem to benefit the lines drawn by VAR and TV companies to repeatedly replay them.

Scrap the system to purely goal line tech and give us our game and sport back, part of which was debating the 'iffy' decisions made after the game, but accepting them too, without the conspiracies that arise under the detached decision makers now.

24 Apr 2024 22:05:58
Why are VAR operatives paid if they cannot make a decision?

23 Apr 2024 17:20:05
Multiple sites are stating that GON has been interviewed for the Liverpool job. So the board must have given permission for this. I'm a little dismayed tbh, I would have expected a little more loyalty (I know, it's football) and expected him to stay for a few years to gain experience away from the white heat of a Champions League club.

23 Apr 2024 17:30:57
Is one of the sources Alex Crooks. If it is, the its not true because that man hasn't got a clue.

The only decent ones are Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein.

23 Apr 2024 17:42:13
Few things here Tim, firstly even if true (and it is a BIG IF as I don't believe it to be honest) that doesn't mean they are offering him the job does it. Secondly, whilst I agree that loyalty is important I'm sorry to say it but ANY manager outside the top four clubs is NEVER turning down an interview with them because they might only be asked once in their careers and if you don't have that level of ambition/self belief then you'll never get anywhere in pro sports anyway! Thirdly you mention loyalty, well I believe that GON did his badges at Liverpool and got his first job in management there (managing the youth team) so in fairness loyalty cuts all ways! Lastly, as I think others have already suggested I suspect he wants a new deal (which is why these stories are going round) and the sooner Jeff gets that sorted the sooner we can all relax a bit! 👍🐺

23 Apr 2024 18:05:22
Sorry, but not a chance. He hasn't the experience YET to manage a club like Liverpool. I suspect that when klopp leaves they could be in a state of turmoil for a short while similar to UTD when Ferguson left. It could ruin him if he was offered the job and was sacked shortly after if things didn't work out. Higher profile managers with more experience will be offered that role surely?

23 Apr 2024 19:46:45
There's not a cat in hells chance that GON will be the next Liverpool manager but I gave to disagree with the 'He hasn't got the experience to manage a big club'.

Pep Guardiola took over the Barcelona job with 'no experience'.
Xavi is now in the same position as is Xavi Alonso.
Ruben Amorim was 35 had 3 months as Braga B manager before getting the Braga job and leading them to a cup win.

Sometimes you don't need the experience, just the will and desire.

I am one of them who thought GON was too inexperienced for the Wolves job. Would I want him out? No. He's doing a tremendous job.

24 Apr 2024 06:22:09
Reported that he has dismissed this silly rumour.
"O’Neil quickly dismissed that suggestion (Liverpool links) and said his concentration was “100 per cent” on Wolves as they target a strong finish to his first season in charge.
“I have not seen anything. I have not spoken to any football club.”
Source: E&S
Early days, will be an interesting summer!

24 Apr 2024 07:55:07
And only this morning it's reported that Arne Strop is the favourite for the Liverpool job (feyenoord I think). The press will chuck put loads of things to spark sales/clickbait and sell ad space.
I agree with bully's tho give GON a new contract asap and as bully's said we can breath a sigh of relief and look forward.

24 Apr 2024 10:57:08
There is no way that Gary is going to Liverpool. Frankie is more likely to go to Hollywood!

24 Apr 2024 11:48:32
Yes not even a full seasons experience at a single club and less than two years EPL experience in total!

I imagine GON is ambivolent about these rumours because even if they haven't been deliberately leaked like the Man U one a few weeks ago, they don't harm his negotiating position.

23 Apr 2024 13:14:59
I know we all want to win every game, but here's a question. Europe is probably beyond us now and we're safe. Given our remaining home fixtures at least we'd obviously want to beat Bournemouth and Palace, but would you sacrifice points against Luton if it meant Forest got relegated. I really like Nuno, but don't have a lot of time for Forest.

23 Apr 2024 13:44:31
Not in the slightest mate.

League position is worth extra millions.

23 Apr 2024 14:01:56
Agreed Phil. It should always be about us. We won’t win every match, as you say Blackfords, but we are the creators of our own destiny.

24 Apr 2024 15:50:54
9 points would put us on 52 I think, and hopefully a top 10 finish, the higher the better.

23 Apr 2024 09:59:52
BBC Scotlands Chief football correspondent, Tom English, described Fabio Silva style of play as 'like an octopus falling out of a tree ', Oh dear! FWAW

23 Apr 2024 10:25:15
And perhaps he was being gentle.

23 Apr 2024 11:59:37
I think it's because he keeps getting caught in ten-tacles!

23 Apr 2024 12:18:33
That'll boost his confidence when he hears/reads things like that. We're going to take a massive hit on this one to get rid.

23 Apr 2024 12:21:34
It's reported that Calamari FC are looking to sign him.

23 Apr 2024 12:52:15
We'll get a few squid for him I reckon.

23 Apr 2024 13:09:43
Nice one Ken68.😂😂

23 Apr 2024 13:19:44
Lol you on form today Ken🤣

23 Apr 2024 14:04:04
Best laugh I’ve had in ages you lot! 🤣🤣🤣
He should at least be given the number 8 shirt to keep from now on. 😂

23 Apr 2024 22:29:10
Brilliant and Silly, cheers all FWAW

24 Apr 2024 14:39:27
To be honest I think your all talking a load of old mollusks! (sorry) 🙈🤣

Fulham v Liverpool - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

23 Apr 2024 07:39:19
{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Fulham v Liverpool - A Quick Liverpool Perspective

21 Apr 2024 18:31:16
For those that say Sa is bad it could be much worse

22 Apr 2024 08:07:38
I feel for the Coventry fans this morning, should have been in the final but for VAR finding a toe interfering with play! Likewise the ref and VAR failing in their duties for Forest by all accounts. Heard Kieth Hackett giving his opinions this morning and basically bemoaning the standards of referring we've now had/got this season, and suggesting a independent VAR adjudication with intensive training. Where forest go with their complaint I don't know but two clubs have suffered big time this weekend.

22 Apr 2024 10:16:15
Not aimed at you Abbey but what exactly makes Forest SO special in all this?! We've had bad decision after bad decision this season and STILL managed to (quite rightly) steer clear of accusing the refs of cheating! I hate VAR and agree with others that I would scrap the whole thing tomoz if given the chance HOWEVER Forests reaction is beyond petulant! It was one bad call, the last call which in fairness should have been a CLEAR pen! As for the other two they were standard 50/50 calls that could ALWAYS go either way! So one bad call and they start throwing toys sorry but it's pathetic and (I suspect) just a way to try and gain a bit of traction before their appeal is heard?! Someone should show um the goal we had disallowed at WHU, that was a FAR more questionable decision than ANY made at their game! Just saying 👍

22 Apr 2024 10:48:35
Nothing special regarding forest from me bully's, I havnt even seen the appeals, I'm just reiterating how VAR is effecting teams, ourselves amongst them and costing us points too. Coventry however is harder, a rare semi final where they've pulled themselves up against a supposed top team. Utds keeper got a second yellow in the pens like villa the other night, will he be banned for the final as martinez is for the Europe 1st leg. Doubt it. I'm just fed up with it all, it happens to often. Re where forest go that was meant as an indication that there is no where to go. Its all wrapped up an it's no wonder that conspiracy theories abound.

22 Apr 2024 11:34:43
Abbey, Premier football is a mess.
It is not just how poorly VAR is used (staggering the lack of competency amongst our top referees), it is FFP, with no constancy,
FA Cup changes which will impact on the earning potential of smaller Clubs, expansion of European Comps, Long-haul Tournaments, which disrupt pre-season planning for coaches etc etc.
Just chasing the money. The more American ownerships, the quicker the demise of our wonderful "Pyramid" system.

22 Apr 2024 11:44:09
Thing is Abbey, that toe decision was factually correct unlike a lot of VAR interferences which we have suffered from and there's also a fairly big argument against that Wan Bissaka hand ball penalty anyway.Only because of the gross incompetence of the officials (on pitch and at Stockley Park;how often do ref's stick with their original decision when going to the monitor?) I'd get rid of VAR, change the offside rule so that the foot position (and a complete foot at that) is the sole determinant and revert to deliberate hand ball only for a penalty. And, of course, pigs will fly!

22 Apr 2024 12:48:59
Hard to feel any symapthy for Forest after how they and their fans have behaved towards us, don't forget this is the same club that tried to get Podence suspended and their fans were saying nothing in the push on Semedo last week, karma comes to mind.

22 Apr 2024 13:28:41
The online technology exists to have neutral country VAR. No reason why Premier League matches should not have VAR adjudicated in Europe, and vice versa.

22 Apr 2024 14:46:53
Agree wholeheartedly old wulf, I ranted off about the cup replays earlier below. I genuinely feel for the Coventry fans tho. I've no sympathy for Forest tho, Rated, I was just moaning about decisions this season. Arteta moaned klopp moaned we've moaned now Nuno moaning but nothing changes, it's like P'ing in the wind.

22 Apr 2024 18:28:27
Only way things will change is if clubs and fans all stand together and make a stand.
