As happy as I am at our progress under Lambert a little bit of me can't help but wonder where we might have been now if Shi had appointed Marco Silva as was heavily linked at the time instead of Zenga. He seems to have picked English up like a native and has got Hull playing some good football in a short space of time.
We may have missed a trick here.

I was thinking the same thing. he's sorted the defence out really quickly too.

If the guy didn't want to come, end of.

We only missed a trick guys because he only wanted the Prem.

I was always led to believe he did want to come to us but thelwell wanted somebody who could speak English. Mendez then put forward Zenga and that was thatched he leaves hull at the end of the season there will be a host of clubs fighting for his signature.

Marco Silva can speak English. Why does Thelwell seem to get blamed for anything that might be seen to be wrong at Wolves now that Moxey has left?

Marco Silva rejected us twice. He didn't want to come, so there's no point in going on about it.

At the time we tried to sign him a lot of the experts were saying that he had only won things with Olympiakos and anyone can win things there. All the recommendations were we should be looking at someone who knows the division like Bruce. Well after all the spending Villa have lost four out of their last six and the Bruce fans have gone quiet. I'm not saying Bruce is a bad manager just that things in football are not always simple or straightforward.

Who knows? Sometimes appointing a dynamic European works well (Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte) sometimes not (Zenga, Solbakken, Henning Berg, Solskjaer, Rosler, Gross, Santini and even Scolari) . But that's true of British managers too (Deano comes to mind) . It's always a risk.

Appointing Lambert follows what Wolves have often done - picked a manager with a good track record (McCarthy, Hoddle, Taylor, Jones, McGhee) and it's never been a disaster, just not always a success. We have seen with managers like Moyes, Redknapp and O'Neill that success at one or more clubs doesn't translate to future success.

Lambert is the safe option. He's steadied us and looks like he's turning us around from what looked like free-fall. Exactly what we needed. I dare say Bruce, Allardyce, Hughton, Pearson, Warnock and other experienced managers at this level could have done the same. Will we get promoted? Unlikely this season, and I would still watch my back as we're only 7 points away from relegation, and could so easily be down there with a little bit of bad luck. Assuming we stay up, the question is, will Lambert keep his job if we don't get promotion next season?

Euro man, I agree with your assertions. I would however, qualify what the three Euro managers you mention have in common with their success, and that is they only buy tried and tested, expensive quality players, along with recognised quality youngsters with a promising future. Usually being vied for by many other leading teams.

We all know or should that Rome wasn't built in a day and that it's going to take time! Man City etc are examples of this! However, they purchased quality right from leadership at the top down. If we lose Costa in the short term we lose the end game. We need additional quality to attract more to the club, this shows ambition. One follows the other. ⚽️😉👍.
