For Griffiths to work he needs a partner. If we are to continue with the one man up top, it should be Doyle despite his lack of goals, but he must stay up top and centrally to link up with those behind - that however means we need 10-15 goal contributions from each of those playing behind him and pace to burn. With the value of our forwards we should not be talking about this being our failing. For me we have a reliable keeper and back-up, options at back (Doherty, Bathh, Ricketts, Goldbourne - being the starting four), midfield has the making though the way were lining up I am not sure we are playing to strengths of McDonald. I would look to sign a combative player who is good to win and move ball 5 yards to one of the more creative lads or for mean time Foley. Add this to 3 of Henry, Jacobs, Sako, Ismael, Eusebio, McDonald, Siguardson, Evans, Edwards and we could see conclusive victories rather than the 1-0, 2-1, score-lines. Play with intent of demolishing those infront of us because with confidence these lads are capable. The lad from Bristol City Emmanuel Thomas, along with Clayton Donaldson are two I would like to see, along with the reinforcement in the middle of the park. This would open up to cashing in on Griffiths, moving on Davis and Doyle, and letting a couple more of the fringe players depart.

Hi all I am right in thinking that the ref from the game yesterday was blind and could not manage a piss up in a beer factory and the fact the we yet again can't seem to find the net when infront of goal should we buy a striker or sell off some of the strikers that don't profurm

In no particular order here our top 5 strikers stats:

Bjorn Sigurdarson:
played 21 games
901(most have come from the bench) mins on field. 901/21=42.9 average mins per game. 2goals/21games=0.095 goals per game.

Kevin Doyle:
played 23 games
1461 mins on field.
1461/23=63.5 AMPG.
3goals/23games=0.130 GPG.

Leigh Griffiths:
games played 28.
mins played 1706.
1706/28=60.9 AMPG.
13goals/28games=0.464 GPG.

Liam McAlinden:
played 13 games
635 mins played
635/13=48.8 AMPG
4goals/13games=0.081 GPG

Jake Cassidy:
Played 16 games
715 mins played
715/16=44.6 AMPG
0goals/16games=0 GPG

I got apps, goals and mins played from transfermarkt so forgive me if some stats are wrong.

You can do what you want with those stats, but IMO siggy or McAlinden should be getting the extra 20 or so AMPG that Doyle gets. The stats also signal we need another striker. Preferably a prolific one because as you can see Siggy and Doyle don't or haven't come up with the goods so far. We can't rely on Griff if the rumours are anything to go by. And McAlinden is perhaps too young to rely on ATM and would be a gamble. As for Cassidy I don't know what to say! He hasn't been good enough for us. But last year with Tranmere it was a different story. He should be loaned out and his game time should be given to someone else.

Hope you enjoy the post :)

Nice post, now I'm not a Cass lover or hater would love him to score though to take the pressure off. If you look at his game yesterday for 45 mins he pulled their back line all over the pitch he created the space for Ebanks to score, non of the chances he missed were sitters. However, if we want to play one up front surely that has to be Doyle (2 years doing it in EPL) McDonald was clear through and missed would have put us 2-0 up, despite the miss McDonald still my M of M.

Overall out of the two top teams in the division who has the brighter future? Only one had any football in them first half was outstanding, unfortunately we fell asleep for 20 secs for a free kick and it cost us.

Finally, Stears was also excellent he took a battering from their big CF ( ref missed a couple of elbows) he got up and carried on.
