Ulf must be afobe' s dad no other explanation for 1 persons unrequited love for a below par prem striker.

02 Aug 2017 22:31:06
SOS I agree totally 😂.

02 Aug 2017 23:38:44
Afobe makes sense in lots of ways you're not considering, apart from the obvious way, that he's the right kind of player who'd link up play and get the goals.

Succeeding and getting promoted with us, playing with the young Portuguese talent, and Nuno's coaching could restart his development, at 24 he has loads of potential.

It only became a big issue for me when apparently, they weren't willing to pay more than £10m for Afobe, but were willing to pay £20m for Gray. Imo Afobe is worth as much and a better fit.

02 Aug 2017 19:37:59
Right I'm going to throw something out there and I am prepared to be shot down 😐 does anyone else think nuno won't actually play with an out and out striker? I know most of us think a 20 goal striker is the holy trail but Spain and Germany have been successful without one. Look at how Liverpool play using attacking players who interchange constantly and all score but none of them are prolific goalscorers. Even Huddersfield last season didn't really have a prolific striker. Does it matter if we have someone getting 20 and 2 others getting 10 each or we have 5 getting 10 each. Think about Costa, cav, Graham, jota, zyro and dicko, they all have goals in them and can reach double figures and defences certainly wouldn't like any 3 of those coming at them and constantly changing. Maybe Leo could be the answer who knows. I could of course be completely wrong and we spend 20m tomorrow on gray or whoever else 😂 Thoughts guys?

02 Aug 2017 20:20:58
excellent post if you were there saturday the way we played makes this a real possibility a more confident finisher than bright and we are on the way only fools rely on 1 forward nowadays I would love to see zyro given more of a chance!

02 Aug 2017 20:22:15
He needs the right striker to link up play, if that part of the game is successful goals will def come. No more hoofing it up to a 5'9" striker! Hooooooofffffff😂.

02 Aug 2017 20:23:28
I think the Leicester game demonstrated we do need a striker to play in the middle, Cav struggled filling in in that position. His goal wasn't a strike it was a wingers pass into the goal, or like a set piece. He needed a moment to set it up that he got because Leicester were off the pace, might not work so well in real Champ game.

Bonatini looks like the answer, a real striker, fact Nuno brought him shows we need him.

For an unknown from an odd league, a fee of £5m if we decide to buy is quite a lot. Maybe he is the big name striker who will make all the difference and we just don't know it yet.

03 Aug 2017 08:26:56
South Banker the question of whether to play a specific striker is one that the leading prem clubs have been considering. Based on last season's results Chelsea, Spurs and Man City all succeeded with at least one purpose built striker. Arsenal seem to have accepted the need to bring in a top quality striker and Man U Have upgraded. Liverpool have been unlucky in losing Sturridge and Ings through injury but it seems to prove that the specific skills of a natural finisher are still essential if you want to succeed and I'm sure Nuno will be aware of this.

03 Aug 2017 09:34:21
Good comments victory. As I said I was just putting it out there to see what people thought and wondered if maybe that was the way we might be going.

03 Aug 2017 18:14:21
Southbanker, good post. I think we will get another striker but only cause we are short of numbers there but I think your point is still entirely valid. This idea of playing wingers almost like wide strikers is very much on-trend and the way lots of the big Euro clubs are doing it (Real and Barcelona have both done it for years now) . So you still have a striker but like you say two what I believe they call inside forwards either side of them who are expected to chip in with 5-10 goals a season.

I think when you watch the Cav goal against Lec and the way it was worked (ie him cutting inside onto his stronger foot) then consider the attacking talent we have on the wings I think that’s exactly how Nuno will expect things to be done. Still need that striker mind as they are the ones that will pop up with a goal in the big/ tight games. Exciting times to be a Wolves fan COYW! ;)

02 Aug 2017 19:35:07
Don't want Gallagher personally. he scored 12 last season so what. We need an all round goal machine who makes defenders worry and scared of the shear power and speed. do fellow fans think that Gallagher is that player. search him on YouTube I think 2 of his 12 go in off his knee and 4 are penaltys.

02 Aug 2017 06:36:58
Still more than our strikers did last season and worth remembering Gallagher scored those 12 in a very poor team.

02 Aug 2017 19:15:28
Things could be worse. We could have Morgan and Moxey at the Realm 😂.

02 Aug 2017 19:53:27
Moxey is Mr. Disaster, he joined Burton Albion's board as a Non Executive Director, and the bad luck has already started. They broke their transfer record and spent £500k on Liam Boyce on 20th June, who almost immediately did his cruciate knee ligament in a friendly with. Shrewsbury.

03 Aug 2017 06:34:54
Been there done that . And it was heart breaking watching that Moxey bleed as much money out of our club.

02 Aug 2017 17:54:04
Hi all, first time poster I am a lifelong fan and season ticket holder. I have been following this page for some time and wanted to chip in on this current thread regarding recruitment.

My word us Wolves fans seem to be a sentimental bunch, exciting new project with manager and players to boot yet still all some are saying is…. ’oh if only Afobe and Sako were here’! It seems like you get a free pair of rose tinted specs with every season ticket, to look back over past players.

Why not focus on the very fact that those players coming is realistic and why that is…I’ll tell you why because both have been completely found out at the highest level! Sako on his day in the Champ was class but mostly relied on strength to power past people whilst lacking a decent delivery, to be honest Graham (if injury free) already looks twice as good!

As for Afobe the ONLY reason he’s seen as available is because they have replaced him with a 35 year old who was playing in the MLS two years ago! Again on his day Afobe can be good but the reason he hasn’t cut it at the top is the same reason Arsenal sold him for buttons…simply not good enough at that level.

Sure he looks good in the Champ where he got three chances a game and just had to finish one but look at his stats now…10 goals in two seasons hardly setting the world a light is he?! Maybe Fosun are actually trying to build something, and you don’t do that by simply rushing out and buying a striker that you know isn’t good enough for the next level else we would be left in the unenviable position the Cherries are currently in of trying to recoup some of the money we spent on striker that will never be up to it in the Prem!

Also for those saying he didn’t have a bad game for us well he certainly did…a bad four months in fact! Never forget the game against Brum where he was like a by stander for most the match. Get a grip people and try to focus on the future and the many positives it is bringing! Neves is still the youngest captain to EVER play in the CL and this season he’ll be playing for little old Wolves…still feels a bit like a dream every time I think on it!

I’m sure we’ll get another striker but these things take time if you rush around throwing money at things you end up like Villa with Ross McCormack taking up a quarter of your wage bill with little to no chance of moving him on, we’ve already done the bomb squad thing once not again please! UTW ;)

02 Aug 2017 18:13:24
Well said Bullysboy, common sense at last. 😀😀😀👍👍🙏.

02 Aug 2017 18:15:22
Well said BullysBoy . 👏👏 like how positive you are about the fosun revolution .

02 Aug 2017 18:38:21
I don't agree at all, Afobe lost all of his personal momentum by transferring to a Prem team and trying to fit into something that was already successful, he's not an arrogant enough personality.

When he joined us, he completely turned our season around, if the points tally from when he was here had been across whole season, we'd have won the league.

Fans have a problem with him because he stopped trying in the 2015-16 season, but he'd been lied to - they promised to replace Sako and didn't, sold Steareman, Morgan could see the season was a failure from the start, put the club up for sale. Afobe only stayed over the summer because M&M promised to replace Sako, then didn't, they betrayed his trust. Then expected him to waste a year of his career and development treading water in the Chump, to help cover their asses. Morgan was a playboy billionaire who expected other people to take responsibility for his gambles. It was ridiculous, of course Afobe's morale was broken and he stopped trying. He still scored loads of goals. I doubt any of our Portuguese stars would be very different if they were misled and their time wasted.

02 Aug 2017 18:59:44
I wonder whether Stearman was sold as a way of bringing in a bit of money to offset holding on to Afobe in the summer. But it only delayed the inevitable. Assessment about the difference between chances in the Championship and in the Premiership is spot on. Look at SEB's record.

02 Aug 2017 19:00:19
Talking a lot of sense, no one can guarantee promotion but this is the most excited the fans have been for a long time, let's just get behind the team and manager and see where it takes us.

02 Aug 2017 19:12:43
Top post bullysboy 👍👏 sorry Ulf but obviously many fans feel the same about Afobe, in a nutshell completely unprofessional.

02 Aug 2017 19:22:16
How was his time wasted, he got paid. Half the time he didn't try. You do that at work or you're up the road. Footballers don't show a good example to kids, he was an arrogant big fish in a small pond.

02 Aug 2017 20:09:41
I live on the south coast and saw Afobe play 5 times last season for the cherries. He's Rubbish. Not the same as he was with us. Forget Afobe. ⚽️👍😉.

02 Aug 2017 20:56:22
Re Studeley Wolf, these players live 24/ 7 to be best footballers they can be, especially from an academy like Arsenal and while they're still trying to make it. It is their entire life and a short career. It's not like being paid to do a 9-5 job.

Morgan and Moxey expected Afobe to tread water for a season, staying at Wolves that had given up ambition, to help them out of the hole they'd put everyone in, by not replacing Sako. I think Afobe was a victim of M&M just like the fans were, it was Moxey's sly spin doctoring to pretend we were all victims of Afobe.

Re Wolvescoast, I think the move shot his momentum and confidence, he needed to get a team promoted to the Prem and win a golden boot, and hit the Prem in a team he was already gelled with, like Andre Gray did.

02 Aug 2017 21:39:14
Afobe is the most composed finisher we have had down the mol for several years. His performances dipped when he was in his sulking phase, but his finishing was still clinical. He was fed broken promises and no one could blame him for leaving. I would take him back tomorrow as with the superb quality we have bought this summer he has the ability to net 30+, never mind 20.

02 Aug 2017 22:02:27
Ulf, for gods sake stop banging on about Afobe all the time. It's all we see on here of late.

He ain't coming back, we don't need him back. He had his chance, he had his day. The club- board, management, team and ambitions, have all moved on. It's a time to look forward, with anticipation, not look back through rose tinted glasses. We are moving on.
Marching on, moving on, moving up.

02 Aug 2017 23:15:24
Afobe did well for a bit then when he needed to roll his sleeves up he went off and sulked finally got his move scored a few goals then got dropped if you're any good you prove you're worth and win your place afobe ain't done that its a new dawn and there's better things to come the door on afobe needs to remain shut I think leo will prove his worth we were all a bit uncertain of a mr bull but look how he turned out wolvesaywe.

02 Aug 2017 23:44:53
Afobe is one of the few things M&M got right, and I suspect it was more Winkleman at MK Dons pointing him out to them and putting a good word in. He's the right fit for what we should be trying to become, at this stage of our and his development it's a perfect quality match.

02 Aug 2017 16:06:53
We need a striker neymar wants to leave😂😂😂🐺🐺🐺.

02 Aug 2017 15:44:41
3 days to go!

02 Aug 2017 15:05:42
Andre Grey rumours persist and still favourites with bookies. What those bookies up to?

02 Aug 2017 15:27:33
Probably making a killing from certain Wolves fans who think we really have chance of signing him. I hope we do, but I can’t see that one coming off.

02 Aug 2017 13:05:02
Also heard that David Wagner is willing to listen to offers for Nahki Wells, think he could do a job for us? Only has a year left on his current deal.

02 Aug 2017 19:52:37
Naki Wells injured.

02 Aug 2017 11:57:38
Just thought i'd put a post up regarding danny batth and for that matter throw stearman in aswell which formed our main defenders from last season.
With people saying keep batth, future england player etc etc heres a scenario which should form an interesting debate, while away the boredom before the season starts and more importantly put the matter to bed.
Wolves are facing opposition whos team posess jota, costa, cavaleiro, neves and dicko. Were on the attack but the ball breaks loose by the half way line to one of the mentioned players. Either of those are one on one against batth/ stearman.
What would the outcome be? Ask yourselves. My thought would be batth or stearman would be left for dead. aren't and wernt good enough for what were trying to achieve.
Whats everyone else think? .

02 Aug 2017 13:01:42
I agree, the new set up does not cater for head it and hoof it type of players, having watched all the pre season games I do not think Batth fits our new style of play he tends to either kick the ball out for a throw in or a goal kick and he is no leader on the pitch time to get rid. Mason not good enough either.

02 Aug 2017 13:02:11
Have to agree.

02 Aug 2017 13:04:19
Gray and Gallagher would sort out our attacking force at the sharp end. ⚽️👍😉.

02 Aug 2017 13:07:22
You won't get any tomatoes out of darkness.

02 Aug 2017 13:28:09
Dudwolf don't know about tomatoes mate but i'm sure batth or stearman against them lot would be left with egg on their faces lol.

02 Aug 2017 15:59:31
Wells for me always on score sheet and will definitely get goals if neves is serving him +jota man be like going miĺler and Carter and not paying with a pud come on me babies.

02 Aug 2017 16:19:14
Lol, I agree out of darkness.

02 Aug 2017 01:35:08
What's people's thoughts. 1 more striker to complete the project? Hernandez, Gray. can't rely on the new boy who's not played a full season let alone a championship season. And let's face it Diko could go either way.

02 Aug 2017 08:36:34
Yeh one more striker and we're good to go I reckon'needs to be a good one though, someone who can take the knocks, as I think we might be in for a bit of a kicking this season'what with all the hate coming our way because the media think we are "buying the league" Gorra loff ay ya . C O M B.

02 Aug 2017 10:38:16
That's funny of course bearing in mind there was a big media love in when Newcastle "bought" the league last year. Even Sky don't seem to like us anymore. 5 live Villa games and not a Wolves game in sight. And do we really care? Not a bit.

02 Aug 2017 11:00:52
To right Shane hope we don't get one TV game, keep it Saturday's 3pm ko 👍.

02 Aug 2017 11:43:55
Not forgetting a Tuesday night of course with a 19.45 K. O. and not a Friday night.

02 Aug 2017 11:49:18
I'm happy we're not on TV at the moment. The Liverpool win apart, I don't have great memories of our recent live matches. It also keeps our players out of the shop window to some extent, which is what we want at the moment. And, if a home game is not on TV, the attendance will be all the higher; the more full houses the better the support. We have to get back to the crowd being the 12th man.

02 Aug 2017 12:29:10
Hernandez is a very good shout. Go get! ⚽️👍😉.

02 Aug 2017 00:52:16
Hello guys season starts again on Friday and can't wait till our game Saturday, but people keep saying will these players be able to deal with Saturday Tuesday Saturday for me this is reason why up to every game bar Leicester game we've had double sessions and trained on evenings and mornings before games to get the players as fit as possible to deal with this i'm sure that this is going to be massive benefit to us and they should be able to cope.

02 Aug 2017 09:02:12
I just hope we don’t suffer later in the season. This isn’t an attack on foreign coaches but occasionally they don’t appreciate the physical toll it takes to play in the English leagues. I’m thinking of Klopp and Pocchetino. In their first seasons in England their teams started at a fast pace, but by the time they came to the end of the season their players looked knackered. Maybe if this Cathro comes onto the coaching staff he will be able to give the Portuguese coaches advice as to how to maintain the players’ fitness over the season.

01 Aug 2017 23:58:33
It will still be players out before we name a new striker.

01 Aug 2017 23:49:51
Stop harping on about Afobe, Sako, Aboubakar, Gray, Gallagher, Oliveira et al. Did anyone see the name Leo Bonatini? NO! Nuno knows best. Have faith, we are going up no doubt about it. I've got 14/1 for champions, 4/1 for promotion and 250/1 Man City, Wolves and Germany (WC) .
Molineux will be rocking on Saturday. An early goal to calm the nerves, just what NES ordered.
