wolves player/coach target
Veteran striker Kevin Phillips has warned Crystal Palace he may move on if they fail to meet his wage demands.

I do have offers elsewhere and if I'm being honest, there is one real offer which I'm very, very tempted by.

But there is certainly an offer there for me that is very tempting. It's at a good level that certainly interests me.

"There are certainly different offers out there on the pitch and even off it for me, and at my age I'm delighted at these people expressing their interest. The week after next will be an important week for me. "

so you could think we have a chance but then when I saw its at a good level he defintly isn't talking about our offer being the tempting one then

How come we never look to the Bescot for young hungry players? Brandy gone, Grigg to Brentford too. Surely they can't compete with us on wages? In the past there's also been Dann Gerrard Deeney etc, right on our doorstep. Makes no sense to me

the beeb reports Kevin Phillips saying he's talking to Crystal Palace about a new contract but so far they are not close to agreement. But he goes on to say he has had one firm offer which he is very, very tempted by. It has to be us doesn't it?

What about Eggert Jonsson? He was never really given a chance and every body's saying he's no good.

The two facts are indeed connected.

Jonsson would be the perfect defensive partner for Bathh. That is if he will commit to playing centre half (this the role he was bought for and has failed to play in until now).

Well maybe. He had one good season at Hearts, then he moved to Wolves and occasionally started before being dropped entirely. And this is under all our recent managers, so consensus is he's not up to the job.

BUT. we're now in L1 and maybe he can do a job for us? But having been sidelined for so long, would he be able to raise his game to the standard before he came to Wolves?

Jonssonn was absolutely awful - truly out of his depth and will be in L1 if we want instant promotion!

Media Wolf

Jonsson did very well at Hearts for 4 seasons - player of the year and everything. The string of managers who ignored him - well, wherer has their judgment has left Wolves! Hope he leaves and excels elsewhere.

Is it just me but with all these rumours of interest in different players i'm beginning to trust KJ more and more. Seems genuine and knowledgeable who will get the lads working hard this season. UTW!

Don't get too carried away. lots to do yet. but I do like the sentiment, and my goodness we need some leadership to warm to.

Why is it that as soon as we're interested in a player the papers say that other clubs have been alerted because of us looking. Should we not be a little more covert? Get the current deals done before we lose them.

Regards the point re covert deals, I for one welcome this new openness regards transfer targets.

If you want someone say it, make it known you want them and make them want to come.

The fans want to know what's going on and that the club is being proactive. Rather than coming to the end of a window and saying oh dear we did have a list of targets but they didn't want to come! Only for us the fans to say yeah yeah we are being fed BS again!

I'd like to see Elokobi made Captain next season. I think he would be a great leader for the younger lads and has always given 100% whenever he has put a Wolves shirt on!

I agree ^

He would be good as "Club Captain" and deserves the job on merit, I reckon.

Hard to see what our starting line up is just now so there may be another candidate for captain. Heck, Doyle might even still be around.

Elokobi for club captain is a good shout. He would be a good mentor for the younger lads on and off the pitch. They would respect him. OK, George is not the most skilful player we have (probably Siggy is), but he always gives 100%, loves the club, has a great character and rapport with the fans. Give it to big George.

What the hell as Elokobi EVER done for wolves to deserve to be captain.
We were trying to off load him before his injury.

Open your eyes will you

He went away on loan as did some other players. That was two managers ago, though, and the wage bill had to be brought down anyway.

George is well up to playing in L1, and besides we'd have no problem selling or loaning him to a Championship team if we really wanted rid of him.

Elikobi is a pub player and always as been, he centainly is not a captain.
he went out on loan because we were trying to get rid,
he gets the ball and everyone heart goes in there mouth and thinking for christ sake pass it.

I think your forgetting the fact that we are in League 1, Elokobi can play this standard comfortably, agreed he is not the most skilful but when has it become essential for the captain to be the most skilful or technically gifted player in the side. George is a good role model for younger pro's, gives 100% every time he pulls on the shirt and conducts himself in a very professional manner. all qualities you would associate with a good captain.

Agree with you. give George the club captain role and he will not let you down

George certainly would be a good role model for the younger lads. I go along with George for club captain.
