I would like to see bully have a chance

I think that's heart ruling head, mate.

Then, you sir, are insane!

A chance at what? Striker or manager? I might be prepared to listen to the former. As for the latter - ever looked at his management CV?

21 May 2013 23:38:51
Sad to see wolves go down to league 1 as you've got great fans, hopefully you'll be back in the premier league soon

I posted earlier about the need to get Davis (Crewe) on board along with his current captain Murphy. It may be Div 1 but I feel we will look back on this summer as the regeneration of Wolves. Morgan has made mistakes but he's not alone there in the past 3-years, when he took on Wolves we had a 5-year plan and this amounted in our longest top flight stretch since the 80's and he's at it again but with the experience to get it right. Morgan is hurt and will be the force behind our rise to the Premiership, it may take 2, 3, 4 years but it will happen. Morgan, Thelwell and Davis (I hope) will deliver. If not Davis - who else should be in the reckoning Powell (without doubt), McNamara or Cameron (promising young scottish managers/coaches - and we all know that scotland deliver their fair share of talent in this pool), Jacket (not first choice but wouldn't overly oppose), Clough (if he could be prised away from his emotional attachment to County) or Pearson (feel his been unfortunate at Leicester and will go on to have successful managerial career).

One more name I forgot to mention is Uwe (at Brentford) there bad luck may be to our benefit.

I understand your thought process and to a degree with your sentiment although possibly not the choice of manager.

However my concern is not next year or even the year after that but hopefully in 24 months time if we have been promoted twice in succession.

Managers who thrive on a shoe string budget in our league and lower do not translate into mangers who buy well or can handle players ego's.

The choice of a lower league rising star manager may be good in the short term but in the medium to long term all the club will do is end up sacking the manager for failure.

I believe between now and the premier league we will need to rebuild the team twice, once to get us out of division 3 with big changes once we get to the championship to get us out of it as there will be teams with large parachute money in the mix wantingo returnto the prem, we will then need a third team to keep us in the premier league

The character of person required to do this is not one that survives on a shoe string especially when the team that they have moulded and motivated is disrupted by players purchased by someone else, but this idea raises another question of Wolves, will the "head coach" be just that, a coach, or a coach that sorts out tactics, style of play and requirements for the future.

If the plan is that the head coach only coaches I think that we may as well all stop guessing and pontificating on choice and accept anyone as in no doubt the clubs ambitions will be proverb to have been lowered compared to that of the supporters

I hope we are talking to Rosler and have at least enquired about Poyet

21 May 2013 21:25:25
Steve Davis seems to have moved up the cue, I think he deserves a break, don't think he would screw up, he might really stun us if he can get into the pack.
Crikey i'm bored.
GET MOXEY OUT

You may be bored but are we really that desperate!

Snookered!

21 May 2013 21:07:00
Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey has insisted that Leigh Griffiths will be part of the club's playing squad for next season.

Good news

This once great club!

21 May 2013 20:07:59
SteveBullStand - Wolves are set to miss out on Owen Coyle, Steve Mclaren and Neil Warnock as they are all eyeing the manager vacancy at premier league side stoke city.

Well they can't appoint all three!

21 May 2013 20:04:10
SteveBullStand - My team with 'new' players in there

GK :Ikeme/Macarey
RB:Doherty CB:Baath CB: (New) LB:Elokobi

LM:Forde CM:Davis CM:Doumbia RM: Ismail

ST: Griffiths ST: Sigurdarson

* Also have cassidy so he can replace one of them

I like this line up! It's very young though. possibly go for Richard Dunne and Kevin Davis for a bit of experience and leadership, they're both on a free (Moxey's got to like that price!)

21 May 2013 18:18:22
Bookies favourite has now jumped towards Steve Davis. 2-1 at the minute!

I'll be more than happy if they know something we don't!

Agree Andy. I think he would do a good job if they let him strip it back and start again. A good style of football with a young side eager to wear the shirt and prove they deserve to play for the once mighty Wolves. Not a bunch of big shots who don't give a toss.
GET MOXEY OUT

21 May 2013 22:42:45
I've given up following the odds. The bookies got it wrong last year. Twice. Nobody saw Solbakken coming. Even when names went shorter than 2/1 it was for a day or two only. {Ed001's Note - the odds are just based on the money placed on them, bookies know little. They just lay off any big bets to be safe and then they don't care who wins as they will make money.}

tony pulis has left stoke. this worries me because our manager options are now reduced I am sure jacket, coyle, etc will be applying for the job. we need to act quickley me thinks.

21 May 2013 14:39:19
Tony Pulis rumoured to be leaving Stoke?
what are peoples thoughts on him doing a job for Wolves?

Boring football - no thanks

Its ok for getting corners! only once been to their place - nightmare watching style etc, never again.

Mick mccarthy the second but slightly better,, no thanks

Tony Pulis? Manages teams with tactics designed for the wrong shaped ball.

Oh, and he'd be coming from Stoke. We've already got two muppets from Stoke on board and that's two too many

21 May 2013 13:50:57
I have sent the same message to 15 FC Twente supporters via twitter. Basically asking their honest opinions re: Steve McClaren. I have had nine responses and they ALL say essentially the same thing.

1) He will only use older players
2) He will not use the youth system
3) Clean sheet first, try to score second
4) If you want boring, defensive football, he is your man (a direct quote from one response)

Is this really what we want? I for one say no, adamantly

Tony pullis quits stoke. another one to toy with

21 May 2013 10:59:07
Express and Stir saying Griffiths doesn't want to return to Wolves.

It's not hard to work out why.

Who would want to go from being a star in the SPL, scoring against Celtic, young POTY, and full Scotland cap to L1, where he probably won't even get Scotland call-up?

Tell Hibs to put up or shut up, we would need large sell on course if he does go because he won't stay there long.

The deal is based on a 50 50 sell on clause that wolves and hibs are trying to get a win win win, he has a lot of family reasons as its not only his feet he scores with.

21 May 2013 10:56:52
Ikeme

Doherty bath (New) Elokobi
Hammill Davis Doumbia (New)

Siggy Griffiths

Sako - to good

Sell: o'hara, Johnson, Henry, foley, Doyle, ward

Obviously it will be very different but I wouldn't mind if our new team looked something like that

Hammill will be gone, on too much money for L1. Circa £25k which was a low premier wage when we signed him.
Anyone over £15k per week should be sold on and if, god forbid, we don't go straight back up wages should be limited to £5k max

Ikeme - suspect from distance
Doherty - doesn't want to stay
Batth - over weight too slow
Elekobi - not a footballer, a boxer
Hammill - always drunk, personal issues
Davis - injury prone
Doumbia - can only play one half
Griffiths - don't want to play for us
Sugurdason - keep definitely will come good

Poor Siggy. All on his own, then.

How may ways can we spell his name LOL.

PS Cheer up, those players are our more promising ones.

SteveBullStand - Davis is not injury prone, baath was playing well and doing good before he got dropped for no reason.

21 May 2013 21:27:20
Club in crisis? Yes. Club who should be optimistic? Yes. Wrap up deal for Davis (of Crewe) and fund their skipper Murphy as well. Add him to Siguardson, Griffiths, McAllden, Davis, Doumbia, Evans, Price, Bathh, Doherty, Tank, Hennessey, McLeary, possibly Reckord unless a new LB enters the fray - still think Husband (of Doncaster) could be persuaded come Jan when both clubs will be looking in opposite directions, two players who know the lower leagues Foley and Edwards, even if not at point of no return Stearman (wages of these three must be slashed in line with where we are) and add an experienced CB as captain - Ward (of Swindon) - player/coach capacity. Ensure we off-load all of the rest who have featured and build from these foundations. If we do not achieve promotion give Davis and the youth one more year (within reason). Even in the league above with the following would could turn heads: Hennessey Doherty Bathh D-Ward Reckord Davis Doumbia Murphy Siguardson Griffiths - other options McLeary Foley Tank Price Evans McAllden and there is still the remainder of the U21's plus the loanees who will reinforce the slender squad. Personal there is goals in this team, youthfulness, opportunity to prove worth and new hope.

See this old article regarding footballers salaries and the difference between each league.

http://tinyurl.com/kp9zq9l

Yes 3 years out of date but I see how it gives the general picture. Championship players get around 3 times L1 players. Not surprised we're offloading so many. Some of our players would have been well paid even by Championship standards (step forward messrs Doyle, O'Hara and Johnson).

21 May 2013 11:41:47
Soon we can start to get rid of the deadwood players and start of a new era fingers crossed. wolves till I die

21 May 2013 10:17:55
Warnock a dinosaur an similar to mick style siewolf

Steve Mcclaren 3year contract officially from 1st July.
You heard it here first

Oh I do hope that's true, loads to prove after the England job. P. J.

I think Steve McLaren would be my choice especially as a "head coach". I was very impressed with what he did at Middlesborough and at Man Utd. To win the league in Holland in his first season with a team other than PSV or Ajax is also impressive in my eyes

I don't understand the fuss about McClaren. He's done nothing since Middlesborough other than inherit a strong squad at Twente. Ran way to Germany and failed appallingly. He went back to Twente to be given a blank canvas. And what happened next?

Empty stands, and banners that read "CLEAN SH*T" (in reference to his dull, defend first, attack later policy) "WE WANT FOOTBALL", "STEVE GO HOME". (I'd post evidence but I know you can't post links on here. Google it). Somehow his tenure at Enschede has been described as a success over here. The Dutch say otherwise.

Ask anyone from Nottingham about Steve McClaren. They'll laugh at you.

Want Davies or Robinson. Not convinced we'll get either. I'll be content with Jackett or Coyle.

Warnock or McClaren however. No thanks {Ed001's Note - it depends on the link. For things like this it is ok, we just have to be careful as a lot of sites just try and post up links across our sites to advertise their site. Leave off the http bit though or the spam filter will just not let it through. }

Yes I'd be happy with Steve McLaren. He's better than we deserve in L1.

Just thinking of this time last year.

Presumably the new manager will first have to endure 69 hours of football B-movie before 1 July.
