Wolves fancast just retweeted a tweet containing a link to a chinese article posted today suggesting that Ding Lei is about to take over Wolves. Don't know how I feel about that one. Thoughts?

Finally got the article translated, and it's not claiming original sources on this, it seems to be saying it's according to earlier reports from our media, that Robin Li is buying AC Milan and Ding Lei is buying Wolves. But I suspect they're guessing - they know he's been mentioned in relation to buying Milan, didn't understand it was a consortium, and so assumed he couldn't also buy Wolves, and I bet they then searched and found the old E&S story linking Ding to Wolves, put 2 and 2 together and maybe got it wrong.
The thing that looks most wrong is they talk about Baidu buying AC Milan (I guess working it up from seeing Robin Li linked) , when all the reports here have referred to it being the Posum Group. And it does seem to directly conflict with what the Spanish agent said, asked directly on twitter if the Wolves buyer was Robin Li, he said yes.
Though I might be wrong, we'll see, while Li and Lei both have lots of money it's certainly a very big difference in identities.

If this take over is legitimate, then who is picking all of these players we are supposedly looking at?
If it's Thelwell'then surely the new manager would have had some input? and as people think its this Lopetegui bloke'that would mean he knows an awful lot about championship players?
Or is it that Jackett stays regardless with Thelwell and now we are looking at players that Jackett really would want to work with.
Or could it be that there isn't a takeover, and Morgan has said sod it' let's go for it and see where it gets us?

Ulf maybe your correct but its a well known fact that UK (English) Premier and Championship clubs pay very inflated wages compared to the rest of europe. I would like to think we would relax the wage structure but not at the expence of stupidity like we have done previously.

I hope it is like this, I think we need a mix of exciting foreign and Brits who know the league to have best chance getting out of Championship, and then to build. And for the good of our identity, a team of foreign all-stars would be plastic and false. And a lot will need to be sensible, better that than throwing endless money at it and failing like others have. And lots of really good Brits won't play in the Champ, they demand Prem, if Powell is a Brit for the Prem in the future, good he does it with us now in the Champ.

Nick Powell has a lot of potential that has never been realised. If Lopetegui can get him fit and motivated, it's a no-brainer really. If he makes no impact, we haven't lost much by bringing him in on a short term deal.

Even Man City didn't sign up team of galacticos in the first season so don't expect major changes if the deal completes and is as good as we hope think Leicester and rising stars like Kante and Mahrez Premier and La Liga players won't want to play Championship even if we could afford them.

If we get taken over and a few good players are signed then we should Piss this league, after all we won 7&1/ 2 games last year with what we have now (if you count Sheff Wed reserves) . So bring some real players in and a coach that will play football week in week out then the Worlds our Ostrich.

The Milan sale will be far more complex and the value of the club is far in excess of ours. Robin Li is only one of several involved in the Milan deal so I cannot see it affecting us.

Sounds like deals for Powell in, and MacDonald out, may be approved in advance by new owner.
The AC Milan deal is delayed but that's not solely a Robin Li deal. He is buying Wolves by himself. The Wolves deal is probably legally done but subject to the FA vetting decision. The decision will be yes, probably announced in a day or two. My guess is a big press conference at the Mol this week.

Worst thing to do now is buy loads of foreign players. Look what solbalken did, all bar sako were waste of space, where did we end up? League 1. Sure it wouldn't happen again but. It's possible. Need expirienced championship players with these foreigners. Problem with foreign managers they always want to bring unproven players to the league instead if buyin 1 or 2 quality untitled foreigners and the rest within the country.

Just a thought about FFP. I see no reason IF Li takes ownership of Wolves, why he couldn't make Baidu our main club sponsors. That would give his brand immediate exposure. He could easily bin the moneyshop deal and pay them whatever such a cancellation fee might be. Just like Man City's owners Etihad, he could sponsor us for many millions to increase our revenue and thus minimise any repercussions arising from FFP. Any comments boys?

There's a limit to how much money they can contribute that way though, otherwise everyone would do it to bypass FFP, fortunately it doesn't really matter 'cause FFP doesn't make that much difference to spending anyway providing the owner knows what they're getting in to. So, if the new owner wants to spend more than FFP allows, it's fine as long as he knows he'll have to pay a fine a few seasons down the line.

The FFP rules are laughable to someone who is worth billions.
What's the fine for breaching it? Around 5 mil? When you reach the Prem, you get an instant 150 mil. No need to worry about the FFP.

I've already suggested dropping Money Shop shirts. Pay the buggers off. Baidu shirts would be logical replacements.
FFP rules are laughable and have anyway just been relaxed to take in a 3-year view rather than 1-year. So, lose 3 year's worth of money in the first year and get promoted. Also, you can just ignore FFP to get promoted, like Bournemouth who paid a paltry fine. The financial windfall far exceeds the possible penalty. If you try and get round FFP with overinflated sponsorship of Baidu, you're in trouble as sponsorship must be of appropriate value.

Really happy that the takeover seems to be happening but kinda worried that there will be a lots of unknown foreign players coming in who may not adapt to the championship.
