Its rife in all the papers and on sky sports again regarding the Neves to City or Utd. i'd be absolutely gutted if we lose him in Jan. I know it's all part and parcel of the game but he is our star player and so integral to where we are now and where we want to be I don't think there's any doubt in that. They say no player is bigger than the club but my word this lads as close as you get to being just that! #Nevesno1fan. UTW.

1.) 09 Sep 2018 11:23:18
Hopefully he’ll give us the season, and you never know depending how we do, forecast for next season he’ll stay even longer. He needs to play European football champions league or otherwise. Whether that’s with wolves obviously depends whether we get there. But he will go eventually. Personally I think he’s a Barca/ Madrid kinda guy in 2 seasons plus. For around 100 million. Class act though and so pleased he pulled on a wolves shirt 🐺.

2.) 09 Sep 2018 13:31:58
There’s a piece in the Birmingham mail online about Neves and the Manchester clubs.
He says how happy he is here, how settled, how he feels cherished by the fans. He goes on to say he doesn’t even consider making a move.

We all know he may go in the future, but at least now he’s spoken out himself to say he’s happy to remain a Wolf.

3.) 09 Sep 2018 14:46:20
Well let's start rumours about Wolves and Mo Salah.
I figure 60 million should be insulting enough.

4.) 09 Sep 2018 15:23:22
The papers must be bored because this story has been doing the rounds for the last 3 weeks. As Nuno and Fosun said a few weeks ago, Neves is under contract but if a bid of £100m is received, they'll consider it.

5.) 09 Sep 2018 16:48:42
Price for Neves.

Man Utd - £100m plus Pogba and Lukaku

Man City - £100m plus De Bruyne and Jesus

Liverpool - £100m plus Saleh and Mané

Spurs - £100m plus Kane and Erikssen

Chelsea - £150m plus Hazard

OODCL.

6.) 09 Sep 2018 19:30:31
Any of those deals would put me at ease DAS.

7.) 09 Sep 2018 19:35:23
Give him away why don’t you.
Seriously, I think he’ll stay stay another couple of years - he’d still be only 23. Then off to R Madrid or Barca. Could be looking at £120m by then. Unless WWFC are in Europe and playing in the new 60,000 New Mol!

8.) 09 Sep 2018 21:50:42
Let's be real, Nuno is covering the bases here, Moutinho in to bring the best from Neves, a win win for Portugal and Wolves, he's a smart cookie, what would Neves learn from the sulky Man U lot? .

9.) 09 Sep 2018 22:32:01
It took City 2 seasons to get Mahrez so let's not panic yet. DAS I think you should replace Thelwell.

10.) 10 Sep 2018 12:32:54
“He says how happy he is here, how settled, how he feels cherished by the fans. He goes on to say he doesn’t even consider making a move. ”

C’mon, you would have to be pretty naive to believe that from a footballer. All that is code for - I am not going to openly agitate for a move.

When these rumours emerge, there is always an element of truth behind it. Don’t forget Mendes is the agent, so he is the one stirring things up. And therefore, £60 million is probably the fee being discussed.

And it will be 10% now and the rest (say 75%) paid over 2-5 and the remaining 15% in clauses and add-ons.

That’s just how transfers are paid.

I suspect a fee will end up higher and I don’t think he will move in January. If anyone does make a bid, it will be next summer. At this stage, people will want to see how he copes over the season.

11.) 10 Sep 2018 12:42:17
What's Thelwell done wrong now? Negotiated the signings of Moutinho, Patricio, Jimenez and Traore? Or the fact that he's got rid of the likes of Gladon, Mason etc?

12.) 10 Sep 2018 13:41:18
I missed one out!

Price for Neves:

West Brom : £10bn plus their entire playing staff, their entire backroom staff, The Hawthorns (to be bulldozed and used as an overflow car park-cum park and ride for Wolves fans) and Frank Skinner and Adrian Chiles dressed as court jesters in Wolves colours providing pre-match entertainment at Molineux for the next 25 years.

Seems a fair exchange?

OODCL.

13.) 10 Sep 2018 17:57:40
Will Neves stay or go? I think it entirely depends on how we perform. The better we perform, the longer he will stay and the more his value will rise. Personally I think he is potentially the most valuable player in the world if his progress continues. Traore will also, in my opinion, be mega. Happy times!

14.) 10 Sep 2018 19:27:50
Fosuns aren't like a Sainsburys and sell their products at a short term profit .

Fosuns are richer now than Man utd, so would laugh in the faces of any bids .

In 2 or 3 years it will be Neves and what he wants to do. All he wants to do is play and Wolves and Fosuns have given him a perfect home. to express and mature.

Fosuns are global, its Mendes who is to b watched.

We as fans are experiencing this for a first time, but in my mind the spine of Wolves

Patricio - mouthinho / NEVES wonttb going anywhere.

15.) 10 Sep 2018 23:39:26
Nerves won't be leaving in January, he will give us at least till end of season but I think he know we are building something that is very exciting and its being built around him. He turned down juventus to join us and let's face it mourinho will ruin his career as he does with all youngsters but will be a very good replacement for fernandinho at city.

16.) 11 Sep 2018 09:19:35
Thelwell done nothing wrong Jas just humour with DAS about his transfer policy.

11 Jan 2018 12:10:34
Just been listening to talk sport and they're reporting that Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) is available for between £7-£10 million. Would take him all day long! A few stumbling blocks though for me

1- would he drop down to the championship for possibly 6 months?
2- would we pay his wages which are probably in the region of £100k-£140k per month?

If we could get over these issues there's no doubt he would bang a load of goals in for us, particularly having 2 of Jota, Cav or Costa supplying the ammunition. I for one would give my right arm to have Wolves snap him up!

1.) 11 Jan 2018 12:32:14
Not for me as lost his edge, like ulloa from Leicester as doesn't get a look in.

2.) 11 Jan 2018 14:57:00
Rogue1

I wouldn’t go as far to say that he’s lost it. Granted he hasn’t pulled up any trees in the 1st half if this season but I put that down to playing in a struggling team who play hoof football which doesn't suit him whatsoever. He was playing well last season scoring goals at leverkusen and all pundits thought that at £16 mill west ham had got a bargain. I’d put money on him being a total success down the mol.

3.) 11 Jan 2018 15:46:26
The pundits thought pep was mad getting rid of joe heart, that's why they are pundits and not football managers, don't get me wrong could be a success but I would not be putting any money on him.

4.) 11 Jan 2018 18:07:21
Heard he's trouble, best avoid.

5.) 11 Jan 2018 17:59:45
He is on 130k a week. He ain't worth the risk at that money IMO.

6.) 11 Jan 2018 19:23:24
We are better than his current team that he isn't wanted at. he also looks like he just wants to cash in his pay and go home these days, probs more suited to moving to MLS/ China.

7.) 11 Jan 2018 21:05:41
Why would we want yesterday's heroes
We want tomorrow hero's.

8.) 12 Jan 2018 07:29:04
Don't forget these owners are business men and will only purchase young and up and coming players who's value will only enhance!

9.) 12 Jan 2018 12:19:39
I believe that Hernandez is too old for the current outlook on players. His first season in the Bundesliga was a success with around 30 goals but the following season was poor. I'm sure the club have much better options lined up for the Summer.

Really was a game of 2 halves today.

The pundits eluded to it before the game regarding Traore and Semado and that they tend to play on the same lines. I don't think it's coincidence that Traore's form has dropped due to Doc leaving. Docs movement both on and off the ball allowed Traore that extra yard of space to play which we all know when he has time he can be devastating. I'd like to see us carry on playing with Traore Left and Neto right as I think Jonny has that intelligence of movement to compliment Traore and also Neto's work rate defensively could massively help out Semado. We would no doubt have more shots on goal with them both cutting in onto there stronger foot.

Turu - good post.

3.) 14 Feb 2021 18:54:57
I was thinking the same Turu. I also think Silva will benefit from that when he plays. There's no point crossing a ball to him but cutting inside may mean we can find his feet more and get him more than just 1 or 2 chances a game.

I know we can't get too carried away but I thought before today, 15 games left, if we won 10 we'd have 57 points and that's not a bad return.

Lets hope a little run starts and we can see where we are.

At HT I thought it was the end of Nuno and I had accepted that. Seeing his reaction after the victory and I fell in love with him all over again. Nuno is once again my valentine.

4.) 14 Feb 2021 19:09:52
Good points as always lads just a thought had we gone down the fosun project would possibly be in ruins maybe prior to the cup game could it be word from on high was to make sure we stay up and to forget the cup after all nuno has always taken it seriously and played a stronger side against Chorley than he did versus saints. Well 7 points from arsenal Leicester and saints I’d an excellent return and has steadied the ship. Whatever was said at half time is clearly the way forward we need to start every game from now on with that same intensity and desire. Finally I think if Neto was playing fior any of this so called big 6 he would be a shoe in for young player of the year but because he’s at wolves not a mention. Let’s get the season done hopefully nuno can see his family recharge his batteries recruit a quality centre half and attacking midfielder and hopefully we push on.

5.) 14 Feb 2021 19:10:42
I agree but personally think it is incumbent on Traore to move off the line if Semedo is making progress down the flank. Right side was more productive when Neto came over to that side. To be fair to him Traore was a lot better when he exploited the inside channel off the left in the second half. Can we build on this moving forward? One way to make the most of this would be by using a slightly deeper sitting false number 9, playing behind right sided Neto and left sided Traore. Nothing to lose given that our direct replacements for Raul, have failed to deliver. Who could play in that false 9 role? Otasowie, Vitinha or MGW are possibilities. Latter two are more suited to that role the the wide roles they were asked to play on Thursday.
Just a thought, given the success of getting our wide players to play a narrower role today, which succeeded despite the lack of input from Jose and fleetingly Fabio.

6.) 15 Feb 2021 14:37:18
Wolfthistle, some good points I agree with, Traore our marmite player :), non existant in the first half, and like you say playing inside gave him more space but also allowed Neto more space and for some strange reason Traore remembered how to lay a ball off in the second half :) .

Im not prepared to give up on Jose just yet, I thin he needs more time, seemed wrong runs at the wrong time, this may take a while to get right.

For me confidence is the issue at the moment, you can see it on their faces, only once Neto scored did you see a few smiles.
Looks like it is all very hard going for the players as well as the fans, it will come right again.

03 Dec 2020 11:47:58
Obviously wishing Raul all the best in his recovery and hoping he's back ASAP.

Just a thought but especially after last nights performance who would take Giroud as a Jimenez replacement? It's been well documented for a while now that he's desperate for 1st team football and I genuinely think we would have a good chance of signing him.

I thought Fabio did well against Arsenal under difficult circumstances but still don't think he's ready to start every game. UTW.

Turu

1.) 03 Dec 2020 17:35:38
I would love to see Giroud but we'd he come?

2.) 03 Dec 2020 21:46:15
Here we go again BBC displaying their true colours bigging up European super league for the privileged few. How they arrived at West Midlands having 31% agreeing is beyond me. Unless they are all Vile fans.

3.) 05 Dec 2020 12:17:02
European Super League would basically be a series of exhibition matches. A bit like the 'big' preseason friendlies we had up until last year in certain overseas countries. Man U v Barcelona might attract 100,000 fans in New York or Chicago, but it's not real competitive football.

26 Nov 2018 06:19:57
After watching the game last night I've heard a lot of people talking about a plan B. It was pretty glaring last night that we got outnumbered in the centre of the park and for me its just a simple move of moving Coady into a def mid role which would help out Neves and Moutinho. Them having that extra man last night made Neves look sunday league. Just go 4 at the back. It would obviously need work on the training pitch as it would restrict our wingbacks into being a lot more defensive minded. Mooy who ran the show yesterday was playing in a hole between Vinagre and Boly and neither knew how to pick him up. He had that much space it was embarrassing. We made him look good.

Turu

1.) 26 Nov 2018 17:24:25
If we go 4 at the back, it probably means no Coady, Dendoncker being the obvious replacement. Then Saiss in midfield in a 433. The wing back positions will be up for grabs too, although Doc is capable of playing a traditional full back role.

I think Nuno will keep to his 343 but will give slightly different briefs to the players. As others have said, Coady (or Saiss) needs to help midfield more and the wings might need to play more through the middle.

26 Aug 2018 07:16:11
You saw the main story on the back page of the Sun this morning? Crying out for VAR after big Willys goal. I can guarantee if it was the other way around it wouldn't make a full page spread in the paper.

Turu

{Ed001's Note - why read that filth anyway? It is not even fit for wiping your arse with, it would just smear it's own muck over your backside. Don't read it, don't look at it, don't talk about it and hopefully it will close down and we never have to see its lies again.}

1.) 26 Aug 2018 09:23:37
I take it you don't like The Sun, Ed001 ;-)

But you are both right. It's a non-story. Refs make mistakes all the time, sometimes leading to goals or disallowing goals that should have stood. We're just used to benefits of bad ref decisions going the way of the bigger clubs rather than the smaller ones. Looks like The Sun is part of that mindset.

{Ed001's Note - I can't believe there is even a discussion about it. The ref could not possibly see it, VAR would only come into use if there was a 'clear and obvious error' which there wasn't on first viewing, so there is every possibility it would not have been used. Even so, why is no one mentioning the multiple bookable offences Kompany and Fernandinho got away with, that should have seen both sent off? Or are we only going to hear the Pep side as usual?

And no, I detest that rag with a passion.}

2.) 26 Aug 2018 09:39:19
How about some mention of aguaro diving? Blatant cheating in front of the ref, no yellow! No comments on TV. VAR wouldn't have played a part but surely the ref should stamp this element out? And as the old saying goes there's no achievement in cheating. We had a rub of luck, body didn't deliberately hand the ball in it hit his arm.

3.) 26 Aug 2018 10:25:42
Best to not wipe the gloss on what was a solid performance.
We deserved something out of the game irrespective of VAR, possession, blatant cheating etc.
we’re in the big boys playground now, but it’s still their ball, let’s just go about our work and control what we can, respect is growing now that we are a real force who have the possibility of aiming higher. This is what the establishment are fearful of, hence the negative press. Come on me babiz🐺.

4.) 26 Aug 2018 10:53:58
Well put Charlie bear.

5.) 26 Aug 2018 11:55:46
Agree Charlie Bear. We are still the new boys but if we keep playing like that, our stock will rise. I have no doubt Nuno will keep everyone grounded and working hard and the points will come.

6.) 26 Aug 2018 12:09:28
Bang on abbywolf absolutely blatant dive, that and a few other decisions should have had the ref straight to specsavers. On another point does anyone else hear the choking noises being made by some of our notable pundits when they have to begrudgingly admit that we know how to play football, thank you Nuno COYW.

7.) 26 Aug 2018 13:30:39
We have to also be honest and admit the Neves tackle on Silva was a penalty. Some you win and some you lose. We won a few yesterday, but could be different next time. The main thing is a solid point and a valiant performance from every player against a very good city side.

8.) 26 Aug 2018 14:52:06
They also said he was offside! Definitely not. The main thing they are missing what a delivery and we had 2 players there onside and no city players to be seen. It was not also deliberate fortune favours the brave fwaw.

9.) 27 Aug 2018 17:30:52
Camo if you watch neves "tackle' on silva again youll see Silva actually stubs his foot in ground, ref spot on not to give. Wasn't a dive and I can understand silvas confusion, but it wasn't a pen.

Gary Cahill maybe? Probably wouldn’t cost £20 mill and I realise he’s 33 now but being a CB you can get away with it a tad more perhaps. Also he’s used to playing in a back 3 and would give that added experience which our CB’s may lack. Chuffed with our start to the season! Onwards and upwards.

Thought we played ok. I honestly think this team will grow into premiership footbal. Dominated the ball throughout but just lacked that cutting edge. I agree that Neves and Moutinho are very similar players which is great when you want to play possession football but you need that top top player who can turn a game on his own which I thought we lacked today. The last 20 mins we were crying out for Cav or Traore who I know obviously weren’t involved today. I also think Jonny did ok but still believe we need a left footed wingback as when he (Jonny) was presented with a bit of space he cut back in on his right foot which seemed to slow the play! Step forward Vinagre! I genuinely believe this lad will go all the way to the top. Just hoping that our Nuno will see it that way also. Looking forward to seeing our boys back in the BBC at 10.20!

Manc_wolf. I honestly believe that if we were to move in the future our current owners wouldn’t rename the ground. They are very much in touch with what us fans want. Also imagine what it could do to the local area in terms of staging other sports or maybe gigs. Imagine Led Zepplin opening the new ground hahaha (wishful thinking I know) . I know there's also talk of taking the England team around the country instead of playing every game at Wembley. I for one would love to see an England qualifier at the ‘NEW MOLINEUX’! UTW.
