I know that we have been linked this transfer window with nearly every footballer that has ever kicked a ball, especially strikers. I see that Vydra's move from Derby to Leeds has fallen through and I wondered what others thought about him as a potential signing. He has consistently done it at Championship level and scored a lot of goals last season despite having a lengthy injury absence. Not necessarily a long term solution but I guess it is all about getting through this season and he may be a quick fix for goals the way Ricky Lambert was at Southampton.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Sheffield Wednesday in the playoffs as their manager, Carlos Carvahil, ticks all the boxes, Portugese with Championship experience.

I know his name came up some months ago and if Wednesday don't go up he may fancy a new challenge. Surely much better than the name that is being mentioned at the moment, the guy with more clubs than Zenga.

I feel totally underwhelmed with the vast majority of people being linked with the vacancy and it is clear that a strong character is needed to clear up this mess. Personally I don't think big Sam is interested and although Chris Hughton would be ideal why would he want to leave Brighton? I know many would question my sanity but I do feel that it may be time to have Mad Mick back. Never a great Premier League manager to me but he is one of the best Championship managers and could certainly turn this shower around. He has brought stability to Ipswich with no investment and I have no doubt that with the financial investment that Fosun have to offer he could bring a smile back to our faces. When I heard the likes of Pearson, Freedman, Lambert etc mentioned with the post I knew it was time to go back to the Future and these are all a lot worse than Mick at this level.

Paul great post mate. Unfortunately the only viable candidates available with championship experience are the ones you mention. There will be many upset fans on any appointment. Paul Clement has not been mentioned. My vote so far goes to mad mick!

MM will never bring a smile to my face he has proved conclusively he is not a Premiership manager, he does not have the necessary qualities. Yes I agree one of the best ever for the Championship, OK use him to get out then ditch him because I and many many more will not pay a penny to watch him flounder in the Premier he just is not that good.

I am a first time poster and felt motivated to post after hearing that Dougie Freeman is the favourite to be the new manager. He was an average player and his record shows he is a below average manager. We now need someone with a successful record in this division, if the board doesn't go for Sam Allardyce then they should consider forking out for Chris Hughton. He has done a great job at Brighton and his previous managerial record is also good. Another option is Gary Rowett who has also done fantastically well at the Blues. These are two managers who are showing how to do it in the Championship, we can not afford to gamble on another foreign manager unless Benitez fancies a change of scenery! Go for Freeman and I fear another stint in League 1.

We are still lacking a Plan B, the two central midfielders, Neves and Moutinho are too similar, and looks like teams in the bottom half are overcrowding them and giving them no space. Is it worth playing Saiss or Dendoncker alongside Neves for a period to see if that gives a little more steel and protection. The defence looks all over the place tonight and we know that Cardiff will not give them any rest on Friday, As for the frontline just not enough threat, too many bad days recently and something different is needed, it is time to put Ashley-Seal on the bench we kno that Bonatini is finished.

Some hypocrisy in your comments Bridgo, Douglas was class but in the Championship, Bonatini could be better than Adobe! We saw Bonatini in the Championship had a great first half of the season., but we all know about the second. At the end of the day Nuno gets paid to make the decisions and I personally would like to have seen Douglas given the same opportunity as Bonatini will get to play in the Premier League. Time will tell as to how it works out but I have no doubt that Nuno has other irons in the fire and will make changes if needed.

Rich, heaven help whoever lives with you if they don’t agree with you. I suppose they are negative as well!

It’s a shame that fans can’t express a different opinion from you and then are considered negative. I expressed an opinion in relation to the signing of Bonatini, basest on facts. It is only a few weeks ago that both Don Goodman and Stevie Bull were saying that Afobe should be given a chance in the Premier League. I suppose you will call them arm chair supporters as well, because they didn’t agree with Nuno! I have been a Wolves fan for 45 years and have seen more tears than cheers. I love what Nuno has done and am proud to have him as our manager but football is about opinions and how many people on this site were actually saying buy Bonatini before his signing was announced, we all thought they were looking elsewhere! I.

Wolfe22, I cannot agree with you I thought Jimenez was poor for the second game in a row, again he failed to hold the ball up, he may not look that bad because those around him are also performing poorly. This team is going to struggle to get any points between now and Christmas, and there are not enough options within the squad. Teams are finding them out and we have now lost to two tteams in the relegation zone within a week by being overpowered in the midfield. Our summer transfer business doesn’t look that good now does it!

Exeterwolf, to me MGW looks more like a central midfielder, able to spray passes around him and can run at people as well. I am now sure how effective he would be on the flanks.

How impressive was Gibbs-White, he gave us something different when he came on and some of his passes were incredible. He certainly is part of the Plan B that I think we have lacked recently when we have gone behind. Unfortunately Bonatini looks totally shot of confidence and struggles to hold up the ball the way he did this time last year. He needs to be replaced on the bench by one of the youngsters from the under 23, Ennis or Ashley-Seal. However there are a lot of positives to be taken from tonight, as we really rattled Spurs, we just need some goals from the front line.

I think it is all about getting the right players in that can play the managers system. Last summer Everton spent a fortune on bringing in a large number of players but neither manager could pull them together as a team and a number such as Rooney and Karlson have been offloaded. I believe Nuno knows what he is doing and only wants those players that will improve the team rather than numbers. Homegrown Players like Giles could well get opportunities within the squad in the top flight as Morgan-White did last season.

Thank you Philip, and looking forward to some more of the wonderful football that we were blessed with last season.
