Whilst I trust Nuno, a bit of me says we are now moving to the sharp end of the pinnacle in the league and really need proven, tried and tested at the highest level to make an impact! I think the loan deal is a sensible move for Jimenez, but still feel a proven free flowing goal scorer is definitely required along with reinforcements in midfield and at the back. All with proven track records. I’m surprised we don’t appear to be looking at Maddison.

I think we will be looking at every player that is available and each will be assessed for the premier league. I think Maddison will be on the list as will lots of Mendes players and many more. We will no doubt try to loan and buy and have three or four permanent signings. I think with Patrício coming on a free will release more funds. The World Cup will make a big difference. Last year the gossip didn’t match the reality and no doubt the same will apply so it’s all about patience.
